The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1485: Chapter 1485: Thinking of Your Great-Aunt

Shu Yu furrowed her brows slightly, “We just talked about Old Mrs. Liu’s matter. My grandmother said her biggest regret was not reconciling with her. Later I asked her if she had any other regrets, she said no, but…”

She paused, and in a low voice, said, “Judging from her expression, there should be more.”

Shu Yu said this, looking at Lu Erbai and Madam Ruan, “Dad, Mom, do you know anything about it?”

Having just returned not long ago, she knew little about past events.

Lu Erbai scratched his head upon hearing this. Regret? He really didn’t know. Actually, like Shu Yu, he was often not home. For years, if he wasn’t inquiring about Shu Yu’s whereabouts, he was on the road looking for her. Even when he returned home, he tried to work as much as possible, doing carpentry, working in the fields, every day very tired. At night, he would fall asleep as soon as he lay down, with very few opportunities to talk with the old lady.

So, what the old lady was thinking, he, as her son, actually didn’t know.

Lu Erbai subconsciously looked at Madam Ruan, who was looking at the wet ground outside the door, soaked from last night’s rain.

She thought for a moment, then raised her eyes to look at Shu Yu, “Was it raining when your grandmother was chatting with you yesterday?”

Shu Yu nodded, “When I came to find her, she was heavily burdened as she watched the rain outside the window.”

Madam Ruan sighed, “Then it must be right, she was probably thinking of your great-aunt.”

“Great-aunt?” Not just Shu Yu, even Shuyou and Ah Ning were stunned.

Madam Ruan glanced inside the room, nodded and said, “Back then, it rained for many days on our side, causing a massive flood. Your grandmother lost contact with your great-aunt’s family and never saw them again.”

The old lady’s surname was Fang, her family was originally from the neighboring town, neither too close nor too far.

She married into the Lu family in Shangshi Village when she was fifteen, and the next year she became pregnant and gave birth to Lu Dasong.

Her younger sister, Junior Ms. Fang, was two years younger than her, and two years later, she married into a neighboring county.

In the end, just half a year after Junior Ms. Fang got married, the entire Dongan Province was flooded continuously, and the slightly lower neighboring county suffered first, with Junior Ms. Fang’s in-laws’ whole house collapsed by the rainwater.

Her mother-in-law couldn’t escape in time and was crushed by the collapsed house, dying on the spot.

Junior Ms. Fang took her husband and father-in-law back to her family to take refuge, while the old lady also returned to her family with her husband and the newborn one-year-old Lu Dasong.

The town was slightly better than the village, but it didn’t hold out for long, as the rain continued unabated.

In the end, as the flooding worsened, they could only flee to the Northern area.

But escaping was not entirely safe either; coupled with the rain showing no sign of stopping, the situation became increasingly urgent.

At this time, Fang’s twelve-year-old brother developed a high fever, and with no doctor available on the road, they could only find some herbs to feed him, but ultimately, he couldn’t survive.

Followed by Junior Ms. Fang’s father-in-law, who also lost his life on the way.

Everyone was clouded with worry, yet still had to persist in moving forward.

Until they encountered a group of vagrants who rushed over, scattering them from Junior Ms. Fang and her husband, since then they were nowhere to be found.

In the vast sea of people, Fang’s family were all fleeing, truly unable to search for others.

When the rainfall finally stopped, they returned to their hometown.

Although the home was already unrecognizable, at least they were still alive.

Shangshi Village began reconstruction, when Old Man Lu’s mother fled, she didn’t leave with them but followed Old Man Lu’s brother. Yet, Boss’s whole family was gone, including the old mother.
