The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1463: Chapter 1463: Jiang Kuanyu and the Black Market Accomplices

Shu Yu suddenly pressed her forehead, ”I forgot to take my baggage.”

The baggage that Ah Ning brought contained not only three portraits but also her daily supplies and clothes. They were all here now.

”Forget it, I’ll send them over to her later.”

Ah Ning left, and Shu Yu sat back down on the chair to seriously discuss with Meng Yunzheng.

”Unless there are unexpected circumstances, the person who drugged Tan Cheng should be Jiang Kuanyu. I didn’t consider this before, but recalling it now, it indeed seems a bit illogical. Since Jiang Kuanyu can manage his own business so well, why would he buy that manor and those hundreds of acres of land, spend five years failing to increase production, and not cut his losses promptly, only selling it last year?”

Thinking about it now, Jiang Kuanyu didn’t care about the grain yield, nor did he want to make the effort to manage it or find suitable plants to grow.

He didn’t sell the place because the manor was very close to the black market, making it convenient for him to enter and exit anytime, and it could also be used as a kind of watchtower.

Meng Yunzheng nodded, ”Moreover, he sold the manor to you at the end of May, at the time when the black market in Jiangyuan County was bustling due to the mirror controversy, and he was already preparing to abandon this black market.”

Upon hearing him mention the mirror, Shu Yu lowered her head somewhat guiltily.

Help, why is this related to the mirror again? This isn’t her issue.

She coughed lightly, ”It’s really strange, isn’t it? This black market belongs to the Second Prince, and yet they sold the mirror to the Third Prince’s princess. Isn’t this courting disaster?”

Meng Yunzheng laughed, ”Perhaps the Second Prince didn’t expect that an originally insignificant mirror would be used by the Third Prince to create rumors in the power struggle for the throne, thus attracting a large number of people to focus on the black market in Jiangyuan County, forcing him to ultimately withdraw.”

Shu Yu, ”...”

”Actually, I think the mirror isn’t the entire reason. The most crucial factor is the extermination of the Shu family in Dongan Province and the county magistrate in Jiangyuan County being Xiang Weinan, the son-in-law of the Xiao Family, right?”

Meng Yunzheng gave her a suspicious glance but nodded, ”That is true.”

Shu Yu shifted the topic, ”Both Jiang Kuanyu and the black market left Dongan Province in those months. If we’re not mistaken, Tan Cheng might have seen a key figure from the Second Prince’s faction during his mountain trip, and Jiang Kuanyu poisoned him to ensure safety.”

”Yes, it’s just that Jiang Kuanyu’s whereabouts are currently unknown, otherwise we might be able to extract a lot from him.”

Shu Yu stroked her chin, ”Tomorrow, I’ll make another visit to the Tan Family and have a good talk with Tan Cheng to see if we can gather more clues.”

”Okay,” Meng Yunzheng nodded, ”I’ll sketch two portraits of Jiang Kuanyu and send them to Qi Lie, asking him to investigate, tackling it from both sides.”

”Alright.” Shu Yu immediately took out the brush, ink, paper, and inkstone, placing them in front of Meng Yunzheng for him to start drawing.

Meng Yunzheng’s artistic skill surpasses that of Tan Cheng, and Shu Yu had seen Jiang Kuanyu before, so with a little refinement, it turned out to resemble Jiang Kuanyu more than Tan Cheng’s portrait did.

”It’s easier to find someone using your illustration.”

Meng Yunzheng chuckled and continued drawing the second one.

The two stayed in the study with one standing and the other sitting, unaware that Ah Ning, upon realizing the baggage was left behind after returning to her room, swiftly ran back.
