My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1746: Chapter 1540: Once Upon a Time

How beautiful are the old times? Thinking about how happy I was chasing after him all those years ago.

The boy I once sang to forever, and those moments from those years, have now disappeared.

Zhang Zhentian never thought his father would so easily fulfill his wishes. Who knows how he has truly been living all these years? Nobody knows what kind of life he truly wants. Perhaps this kind of life is the most perfect in his eyes now.

He originally thought he would never have the chance to enjoy such a happy life again in this lifetime, but who would have thought he could attain such a perfect life at this point!

”Dad, deep down in my heart, I know very well that sometimes the things I say really hurt you deeply. I also know that some things are not as simple as I claim, you can’t just forget the pain I’ve caused you all just so easily. I can’t even come to terms with it myself, so how could you possibly just let all of it go so lightly?

We’ve all traveled different paths and faced different storms. No one knows what we’ve truly been through or what mistakes we’ve made. All I want is a steady life. I’ve never wanted to hurt others over and over again, because hurting others brings no benefit to myself.

Just like me, living selfishly time and again, but what was the outcome? I’ve been ridiculed by others, and I don’t even know how to return to my own home. I have a home I can’t go back to!

My dear father, have you ever considered from my perspective how I’ve managed all these years? You all know better than anyone how I’ve weathered the storms these years.

If only each of you could experience the sleepless nights, living each day with difficulty—do you know how exhausting it is? I’ve never complained to anyone about how hard life has been, because I understand that complaining serves no purpose.”

”Dad, please don’t talk about these things anymore. Share with us what life has been like for you and Mom living outside all these years. What have you gone through, and how have you lived every day? I want to know how you have really lived!

Even if we haven’t been together over the years, I still hope to understand your life, to know how your life has been these past few years. I want to know how you have managed all these years!”

Zhang Yichen feared that her father and grandfather might start arguing again, so she quickly spoke these words. She thought that perhaps if all the focus was shifted to herself, it could prevent them from fighting repeatedly. If they continued to argue after returning home, wouldn’t it only bring more quarrels into the family?

Zhang Zhentian didn’t expect that his son would be interested in understanding his life as a father. His treatment of the child should have been clear to him, and yet he couldn’t understand why his son wanted to understand his life.

”Yichen, do you really want to understand your father’s life over these years? Do you know how hard these years have been for me? When I heard you say this, deep down, I could actually understand you.

Dad doesn’t know what you were thinking when you chose to say such words. Are you afraid of Dad arguing with Grandfather again, or are you just trying to mock the hardships I’ve faced away from home, trying to hit back at me, showing me how inconvenient leaving this home was?”

”Dad, you’re mistaken. I’ve never thought about these issues or considered these situations. The life I want is neither too much nor too little; I just want to live happily and for everyone to have a happy life. Everyone’s path is different.

You and Mom have just returned home with difficulty. I don’t want you to argue with Grandpa as soon as you get back. His body can no longer endure your repeated fierce arguments, it will collapse.

Deep down, you know better than anyone that, as a father, you haven’t fulfilled the responsibilities you should have. You’ve never been there for me, never cared for me as your son. Each day, you’ve been wandering around outside, leaving me with my elderly father.

Similarly, as a son, how have you treated your father? You’ve left him here time and again, letting him hide in a corner quietly shedding tears. Where were you? Enjoying your life outside, and what about your son and father? They’re suffering, struggling each step of the way. Don’t you understand even a bit of this deep inside?

As a grandfather, you abandoned your grandson, knowing full well he’s your grandson yet you don’t dare acknowledge him. You silently sacrifice everything for your pride and face, choosing not to return home, refusing to utter a kind word or ask for permission to stay even once. Is it truly so difficult to apologize? If you had apologized earlier, couldn’t you have returned home sooner?

The things I say to you now, I just hope you can recognize what you should do. If you keep doing what you did in the past, what does it mean for us all to live together? What kind of harm will each person endure?

To tell you the truth, deep down, you’ve long wanted to share your experiences over these years with everyone, yet never had a chance to speak. I’ve given you this opportunity, but don’t you appreciate it? Really, I’m only saying these things because I want to hear about your experiences. I’m only fulfilling something deep inside you. I don’t want you to be torn about it over and over, not knowing what your heart truly desires!

When others provide a ladder for you to climb down, can’t you follow it just a little?”

Alas! Zhang Shengping didn’t know what to say. His son’s intelligence seemed incredibly beyond belief. If only he had his son’s intelligence, he wouldn’t have ended up like this, and everything wouldn’t have become so embarrassing. If he had both emotional intelligence and intellect, would he be more formidable than his son a hundredfold? But why did fate only grant him emotional intelligence and forget about intellect?

No matter right or wrong, it’s so very difficult, who would care that my long-held principles turned to dust in an instant.
