My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1724: Chapter 1518: Dream?

I wish so much that the car accident back then was just a nightmare of mine.

After Zhang Zhentian bid farewell to Old Master Zhang, he felt that he indeed should have taken his wife out to enjoy themselves a bit earlier. There’s not much time in life, and even less time to gather with loved ones. Why did he keep doing this over and over again? Wouldn’t the world be a better place if he took his family out for a tour?

When he finished offline work, he hurriedly left, but none of them expected that on the very day they left, a major car accident would occur right in front of them. They hadn’t thought that the root cause of the accident would be speeding.

Driving on the highway with his wife, Zhang Zhentian felt immensely happy now, because he was taking his wife on a tour, planning to travel the world, to visit every scenic spot, to let his wife experience the boundless beauty of nature, proving that he truly loved her.

But time is always like this; no matter what plans you make, change is inevitable. They started out thinking they could live a happy life.

Yet, no one expected that today was so inauspicious, leading to such a major safety incident. It might leave him unable to stand again in this lifetime and nearly cost him a happy, stable family, and nearly the woman he loved most in his life.

”Xia Jing, if only we could always live like this, happily, it would be so nice. I really don’t want anything bad between us. How I long for us to stay happy and peaceful, but I also understand that some things can’t be solved just by wishing. Your heart isn’t with me, yet I still want to take you around the world—not for anything else, just so I won’t have regrets in this lifetime.

I just want the woman I love to be able to go out and have fun. Even though when you’re with me, the person in your heart isn’t me, I don’t regret the time spent together. I’ve contemplated many times, but I ask myself, do I truly have the ability to make you happy?

Can it really be like others say, that letting go is turning away with flair? Can I really be indifferent like others? I’ve asked myself repeatedly, and the answer is always no!

Maybe you truly think I’m too selfish, never having considered your feelings. Did you know? Being with you was the happiest time of my life, even if you showed me coldness every day.

But in my heart, I could overlook any flaws of yours. All I want is to love you steadily and unwaveringly, without changing because of your attitude shift. I just want to stay by your side, letting you know I would never give up on you.”

”I feel there’s no need for you to keep telling me these things, because every time you bring them up in front of me, it doesn’t rest well in my heart, you know?

You know I’m not heartless—some things I really can’t forget. You worked hard for me, bravely stepping up time and again, how could I forget? All I want is a stable life.

But I never gave you the life you wanted. I left home with you, wandered the ends of the earth with you. You couldn’t live with your dad or your son, never hating me. Instead, you sacrificed repeatedly for me, no matter the cost. You thought you made me happy, but did you think I was really indifferent?

But there is no forcing emotions—what’s past is past. I can’t be devoted like before, living with you; everyone has their own life. People see things differently, view issues from different angles. Don’t always think about facilitating others. Sometimes, consider yourself, think about what you’ll gain by doing so. Don’t spend your life considering others’ lives—you’ll end up with nothing, and lose a lot in return!

You invested your entire love in me, but you didn’t get a blissful marriage. You did everything to make me happy, but all I gave you was cold faces. You committed yourself selflessly to me, yet I treated you as a backup, never sincerely.

No matter how you treat me, I believe I’ll always be with you. Our lives in this world are truly not easy. After being with you, you’re the only one in my heart. Maybe you think I’m foolish, but the men of the Zhang Family, for generations, once they genuinely fall in love, will never change in this lifetime, even if it destroys them. No matter what, they won’t ever let go of her hand.”

...

While Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing were engrossed in conversation, Zhang Zhentian kept glancing at his wife beside him, forgetting he was driving.

Suddenly, a truck dashed out from an intersection in front, and coincidentally, his speed was too fast. The truck driver was shocked seeing a small car appear all of a sudden and immediately swerved sharply.

When Zhang Zhentian snapped back, he made a sharp turn, and the two cars narrowly missed each other, both ending by the roadside barrier.

Zhang Zhentian’s car hit the railing and plunged down the cliff.

A Ferrari tumbled and rolled down the cliff.

A major car accident occurred!

When Old Master Zhang and Zhang Yichen received the call from the hospital, they were terrified. They couldn’t believe that the person who had safely left in the morning was now critically injured in the hospital, making even rescue difficult, stunning them into disbelief.

Old Master Zhang was devastated; that was his own son. He was so afraid of losing his child, who never had a happy life by his side all these years. Now they were finally going to be together again, but why did fate play such a cruel joke? What was the cause behind this accident?

The outcome was something he couldn’t accept. It all seemed like a dream!
