My Alleged Husband

Chapter 738: Chapter 708 Too Humble in Love_1

Zhang Yichen truly didn’t understand what was so good about his mother. Why did his father love her so devotedly, knowing that his wife’s heart belonged to someone else? Yet she was still willing to give everything for that person. What on earth was all this for? He didn’t love his wife this much.

Zhang Zhentian didn’t know what his son was thinking; he just knew that the only thing he could do now was to love his eggplant dish earnestly in order to move his wife, to let her know that he was indeed the man who loved her most in this world. Everything could be changed; it was not only by settling for the status quo that one could be most contented.

”I really don’t understand, what’s so good about my mother? Why do you love her so faithfully? How has she treated you over the years? Don’t you truly know in your heart?

You’ve been deceiving yourself, yet you’ve successfully fooled yourself time and again. You’ve lived in self-deception for decades; do you think it’s worth it?

You’re willing to give everything for her, to forsake the entire family, even to abandon the century-old reputation painstakingly built by Grandpa, and to discard your own father’s lifelong achievements.

In your eyes, besides her, what else is worth your cling? What exactly do you consider your relatives to be by doing this?

In your eyes, are they really that insignificant now?

Now, can you just casually take up the tools that cause harm? Harming your own relatives, what good does that do you? In the end, all you achieve is pushing your loved ones further away. Those who love you feel disappointed over and over because of your actions, and ultimately they will only choose to abandon you. Your actions sadden everyone who loves you, so why should they choose to stick by you faithfully again and again?

You’ve never considered the consequences of your actions; you only know what kind of life you want. But do you know that the person you love doesn’t love you inside?”

”Child, you don’t understand, some things are not as simple as you imagine. I’ve shared the bed with him for decades; I know what kind of person he is much better than you do. You cannot judge her based on one side of the story.

I’ve thought before that even if one day he truly doesn’t want to stay by my side and leaves for someone else, I could still happily bless her.

And when the day comes that she wants to return to me, I will still open my arms to welcome him, because he is the love of my life. I can give up all my bottom lines for him, because I love him, so I can forsake all my dignity—that’s what it means to truly love someone!

A person can give up their principles, their dignity, and what they hold dear—all for love. If I didn’t love this person, then why sacrifice so much for him?”

Zhang Yichen felt that his father’s love was too humble; he could give up his life for his mother, but why, in his mother’s eyes, was all this merely a mistake? Why wouldn’t his mother love his father even a little more?

He had grown up so much over the years without them spending anything on him or worrying for him. But why was his mother still so dissatisfied in her eyes?

Are human hearts really so unpredictable? He had once abandoned me for what he called freedom, and now he is forsaking the entire family for his so-called love. Time and again he has left; does he ever think of me as his son?

The more Zhang Yichen thought about it, the more distressed he became. He simply couldn’t imagine what he truly meant to his mother deep inside. All his life he had only wanted to stay by his parents’ side, but the end result was that he was left feeling too passive in his heart.

”Do you realize that you love him so much, but he doesn’t love you? I have never seen anyone love another as you do. Your love is too humble; she can’t feel whether you truly love him or not.

In his eyes, there’s only his love. She chose to abandon me for her so-called freedom initially, and now she wants to abandon our entire family for her love. In his eyes, everything about us is disposable, except for that person whom she can’t forget.

In his heart, everything else is just a backdrop; he can disregard us all because we’re not really his relatives in his eyes!

I really don’t get it, she acts so decisively, so why do you choose to love her so faithfully? What reason makes you so unquestioningly devoted to him, what makes you disregard us time and again for her sake?

We are also human; we also have souls. We are hurt time and again, our hearts ache, enduring the piercing pain you bring us—what for? Just because you are my parents?

Does that give you the right to recklessly hurt my genuine feelings for you?

Enough with the repeated trials of my patience; is this really good for you? Do you really want to drive me to despair?”

Zhang Zhentian knew well that his love was too humble; maybe it was precisely because of the humbleness of his love that his wife remained indifferent to his contributions, turned a blind eye to his every word. This made everything as awkward as it was now. If it wasn’t for this, if he was a bit more of a man, maybe none of this would’ve happened, and maybe his wife would look at him differently. Was all this really because he was too cowardly and incompetent?

”Regardless of whether I’m humbled or not, the heart with which I love her is definitely not humble. My love for her is strong; it is steadfast and won’t change for anything. I believe that one day, because of my love for him, he will feel that I’m no longer so humble...”
