My Alleged Husband

Chapter 731: Chapter 701: Stop Talking_1

”Xia Jing, as an elder and someone who’s been through it, I’ve personally experienced the pain of parting and death. You might never be able to fully understand what that pain is like, but inevitably one day everyone will. At the moment Zhang Zhentian’s mother left me, who could have known how much I was suffering, how much pain I was in?”

I watched the woman I loved most lie in my arms, losing her last pulse. Do you know that kind of heartbreak?”

At that time, I was in agony because of her departure; I was in despair because of her death!”

During that period, I wallowed in my suffering, questioning myself over and over again whether I could really be happy without her. I had no joy left at all.

Actually, everyone is like this. When we have the most precious thing, we never learn to cherish it. Only when those we love most are thoroughly gone do we understand how much we cared for them, that we would have given our life for them. But time has passed, and there’s no way to bring back their true feelings for us.”

I’m telling you both this today, not because I want you to change but because I hope you think carefully before making any decisions. Don’t impulsively make choices only to regret them later when they’ve already caused so much pain. It would really be pointless then.”

How could Xia Jing not know? But some decisions, once made, become irreversible. Over and over, she wished her loved ones could stay by her side. Yet, in the end, she lost them and now has no chance to bring them back in this lifetime. The choices she’s made are terribly wrong.

Everyone has lost something at some point; isn’t everyone learning to grow amid the pain and suffering? Nobody is born knowing everything.

All that we have comes from the effort we’ve put in. What might seem trivial to others can be a very difficult decision for one’s self.”

”I know you say these things for our benefit, for the good of our family. You wish for us to live happily ever after, but some things are beyond my control. Everyone pays a price for their choices. If one only had to give without cost, then who would willingly make a wrong decision?”

”In my entire life, I’ve never made a right decision. Now, all I hope for is that my husband lives a happy life. I don’t want to bring him shame by my presence!”

”You’re a father, you’ve been through many ups and downs, and you’ve experienced it all. But some experiences aren’t meant for us. If they happen, everyone becomes passive and eventually loses the reason for being together. Do you really want me to stay with him without the joy we once had, just doubting each other over and over again? Does that sound like a happy marriage to you?”

”When I told my own son the truth, when I decided to be honest with you, I knew that was a decision I could never change. From the moment I spoke the truth, it determined the path I would take, the life and difficulties I would face. I’ve reflected and questioned myself countless times deep in my heart. Is it really worth it?”

But in the end, my conclusion is that it is indeed worth it!

”In fact, you all understand. In my worldview, it’s not about whether something is worth it or not, but whether or not I’m willing. Since I’m willing to make this decision and pay the price, what then is worth or not worth?”

”Child, you’re a kind-hearted girl. So why do you hurt the husband who loves you the most this way? Do you really deserve him? Watching him live in such anguish, doesn’t your heart ache at all? You’ve made decisions time and again for your own thoughts, but have you ever considered how much your husband has sacrificed for you? Being too selfish is not the way to be...”

Zhang Zhentian didn’t want his father to continue, no matter what his wife had done, in his eyes she was still the one he deeply loved.

”Dad, please don’t say such things anymore, and I don’t want to hear this kind of talk from you in the future. What happens between me and my wife is our business. Regardless of whether our marriage is happy or sorrowful, we will bear the consequences ourselves.

I don’t want you to treat her with those words, nor do I want our issues to cause you to harbor any bias against my wife. Please treat her the same way you always have. I just hope we can live happily as a family, without letting trivial things cause discord again and again. It’s really exhausting.

You are my father, and I know you love me, even though I’ve made many heartbreaking decisions. So please respect my decision and my feelings. I don’t want to discuss anything else. Whatever pain I have to endure, I won’t miss out on any of it. I’ll win her over with my own efforts and show her that no matter how well others may treat her, no matter how much she loves someone else, it is only I who truly and deeply loves her. My love for her is evident for all to see.”

Old Master Zhang was about to say something, but he was cut off by his son.

”I...”

”Don’t say any more. My decision is not going to change because of what anyone says. If you really care about me, please respect the decisions I’ve made. They’re not so easily changed, and from now on no one can change any decision I make. I will live for myself!”
