My Alleged Husband

Chapter 651: Chapter 630: Harmony in the Family_1

Old Master Zhang heard the words spoken by his most beloved child and felt a surge of contentment in his heart. Even though the statement was a bit unrealistic, ripples of emotion stirred within him. He was very clear and understood that this warmth was exactly what his heart yearned for the most. He was thankful for the opportunity to receive such warmth; yet now he finally realized that what he truly cared about was not money or benefits. What mattered the most to him was the well-being of his family and the fortune of having such a perfect family in his lifetime.

Nothing was more important than the happiness of his family. He should thank the heavens for allowing him to understand this perspective early on, or else he would have lived a life full of regrets. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing his most beloved ones, having already lost his most cherished son. If he were to lose another family member, he didn’t know what choices he would make in the heartbreak. Could a crumbling life ever return to its original state?

”Silly child, how can you call yourself a grown man at such a young age? Do you not realize that you have so much to experience ahead of you, and the decisions you will face are different? Maybe in the future, you won’t want to be a ’big man,’ but rather a child cherished and protected in the arms of your family?

Nothing is absolute, don’t believe that what you’re doing is truly great. Believe that every single thing you do may not appear perfect in the eyes of others, but in everyone’s heart, it will be the greatest comfort in your life!”

Zhang Yichen knew that his grandfather had a purpose for saying these things, but he didn’t make it clear. He wanted his grandfather to understand that sometimes words were not enough; actions were needed to prove a point and to teach children. That would have a different effect than mere words.

Everyone knew Old Master Zhang meant well, but no one pointed out the key issue. They wanted each person to lead a unique life, as everyone’s life was defined by their own choices. No one had their path mapped out from the start, and every step taken was a considered decision, not one made impulsively that would lead to lifelong regret.

”Great-grandfather, although I don’t fully understand what you’re saying, I know it in my heart!

I may not be a man yet, but when I grow up, I will surely become an upright and outstanding man. I will protect you, my parents, and ensure that no harm comes to those I care about. That is what a real man should do.

I believe that someday, with my intelligence and wisdom, I will reach the pinnacle of my life. I will make those who once looked down on me and abandoned me regret their decisions for the rest of their lives. I will make them clearly remember that there was someone they discarded, someone they belittled, but in the end, that person became the king among them. I will shake their sense of ease and make them realize that some decisions, once made, cannot be regretted for a lifetime!

I know and understand that once I make a decision, whatever choices I face in the future, I must walk my chosen path step by step. It’s the only way not to give up halfway and to live up to being a member of the Zhang Family.

Since I have become a member of the Zhang Family, my lifetime goal will be to honor the family’s century-old reputation and ensure it flourishes under my watch. I will not allow anyone to criticize us. I understand that you are the one who cares the most about face, but you were willing to give up your dignity and pride for us, which deeply moves me. I am not a heartless person, and my actions will surely make everyone approve of me. I want to make it clear that even if I make a mistake one day, it won’t be due to carelessness but because I wanted to protect the family members I care about.”

”Grandfather, let’s not stand here at the door talking about this. Let’s go inside the house where it’s warmer. It’s too cold outside, and your health won’t be able to withstand it. Believe me, living a happy life with our family is the most important thing. We should not care about how others view us or what they think. Being the most authentic self is what truly matters in life. Why should we change because of others? It’s more powerful to have others adapt to us, rather than constantly lowering ourselves to fit in with them!”

Indeed, Old Master Zhang’s heart was filled with immense relief. His family had finally become joyous and content, achieving the happiness he had always wanted. To enjoy his later years serenely and without any reason, how could his heart not be thrilled, not be inspired?

What this elderly, frail man wanted was nothing more than to have his most important people by his side, to see his once unsteady family find comfort, peace, and the ability to thrive. And that was enough to have made it through all the hardships of life. But if, due to a moment of carelessness, his family were to suffer even greater harm, what choices would he have to make then?

A happy family life is not easy to maintain; the only thing one can do is to keep trying to hold on to what matters most. For an elderly person, this is exceedingly difficult. Yet now, fortune has smiled upon him and brought him everything he wanted. He is truly thankful for the grace bestowed upon him, but he also realizes that such happiness is not everlasting. There will come a day when he will have to leave his loved ones, but how can he ensure they will not be saddened by his departure?
