My Alleged Husband

Chapter 679: Chapter 649 Are You My Grandparents?_1

Zhang Yichen had now decided to have both his parents return home. He hoped that this time his parents could truly keep their promise and not be unfaithful to their words as before. If his parents could really be so good to him, could truly stay by his side, care for him, accompany him and his grandfather, his wife, and his son, then his heart would already be very happy, very content. He was not the kind of person who was insatiably greedy.

As long as his grandfather could live a happy and joyful life, what harm was there in him suffering a little? Just like he abandoned all his dignity and male pride, as long as his grandfather could be happy, he felt that none of it mattered. Everything he now had was the result of his grandfather’s painstaking efforts to bring him up. How could he bear to be unmindful of his grandfather’s feelings and wishes now that he had made something of himself? He really didn’t want to see his grandfather so disappointed.

Old Master Zhang was well aware of why his grandson was willing to take such a step back. He was truly grateful to heaven for giving him such a wonderful grandson. Even if his son turned out to be a failure, unwilling to accept all his wealth, unwilling to stay by his side, these years he had had such a flawless woman by his side. He felt that his heart, too, was experiencing a kind of enjoyment.

”Since you have both already agreed to return home, let’s set some ground rules before going back. I don’t expect you to do anything else. You don’t have to do any household chores; all you need to do is to company grandpa every day. He has suffered too much over the years. He has so much emptiness in his heart and so much to say to you. I hope you can truly accompany him and give him more care. Don’t hurt those who love you the most because of your capriciousness. Those relatives can’t be bought with all the money in the world.

Even if everyone in this world would harm you, would take revenge on you, my grandfather will definitely not. Because he is your father, he will take good care of you. He only thinks of leaving the best of everything to you. I hope you really understand his efforts and stop hurting him with your ignorance. He can’t endure any more pain or torment. I also don’t want him to suffer the pains he endured in the past like Jin Se did. You have never considered how difficult it was for him to come this far. All you ever did was take from him. Whenever you needed him, you would come begging, and when you didn’t, you’d kick him aside. What do you think of him? He is your biological father, so I hope you can be clear about that.”

When Old Master Zhang heard his grandson say these words, he was deeply moved. How could his heart not be stirred when his grandson was still considering his well-being at this moment? He just hoped to live a happy life for the rest of his life. He could disregard anything, but he must care for his relatives, for they had given him everything.

”Child, your goodness of heart has not been lost on grandpa, so I hope you won’t say these things out loud, as saying them changes the outcome. Regardless of how your mom and dad treat grandpa, having you is enough for me. You are grandpa’s greatest pride in life, you have given grandpa happiness, you have made my life different. Grandpa has never regretted anything in life, but I am most grateful to heaven for giving me you!

These years have been hard for grandpa, sometimes barely able to sleep. But do you know? With you by my side, my heart feels much lighter. Because with you, I know some things don’t necessarily come from insisting on them.

Today, after hearing what you said, my heart is truly grateful and moved. Your words have made me realize that I have not doted on you in vain. Although I have been very strict with you, and I have punished you over and over again when you did wrong, you have never held a grudge against me. You have still stayed loyally by my side all this time, which makes me very thankful. Today, I want to pass these words on to you. I hope you can live a happy life. I don’t care about anything else, I don’t have any other wishes. I just want you to live well, just want you to stay by my side, just want your family to be happy. For me, what does it matter if I suffer more grievances or endure more pain? From the start, I never thought that I would have the chance to return to my son’s side, but having you, I’m really very happy...”

”Yichen, don’t worry. Since mom and dad have decided to come home to be with you and grandpa, I won’t leave you, no matter what.”

...

Just as their emotions had stabilized, Zhang Ni returned home. He saw a strange man and woman in his house and didn’t know who they were. He ran to ask his dad.

”Dad, who are these two? How come I’ve never seen them before, and why are there guests at our house today?”

”Nai’er, haven’t you always wanted to see your grandpa and grandma? They are your grandpa and grandma. Aren’t you going to go and say hello to them?”

”Grandpa? Grandma?

Dad, weren’t my grandpa and grandma never coming home? They’ve abandoned us for so long, why should I say hello?” Zhang Ni, after addressing Zhang Yichen, turned to face Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing and said, ”Are you my grandpa and grandma? Why didn’t you want to come home to see me? I’ve grown up now, I’ve grown up all these years, I’ve always been looking forward to my grandpa and grandma coming to see me, to hug me, but why haven’t you ever come back? Don’t you want to see me? I think I’m pretty cute, so why don’t you love me...”
