My Alleged Husband

Chapter 685: 655 Chapter Never Again_1

Actually, for Zhentian, his life was truly filled with sorrow. His own son was right before his eyes, yet he had no way to embrace him. The yearning for his son, the longing for his family that filled these years, had no chance to bring him home to see them even just once. He knew that once he had made his decision, there would never come a day when he could feel regret. Having done something to embarrass everyone, who in this life would ever forgive him? No one forgives a person who has shamed them yet never offered an apology.

Zhentian felt that it was inappropriate to say anything to his son at this moment. He should sincerely face his father, offer an apology, make amends. All mistakes were his own, causing his father so much hurt. He had never considered the impact his actions might have on his father. So focused was he on his own freedom, he neglected the old man’s feelings.

”Dad, I’m sorry. It’s my fault for all these years. I should not have abandoned our family and the entire clan for my own selfish reasons, making everyone say that you have an unfilial son. I have not taken care of you these years as I should have. I know you feel having me as your son is a disgrace. You have never been proud of having a son like me, but you are proud of your grandson. You believe he is an outstanding person. Thanks to your nurturing, he has what he has today. No matter the argument, he truly appreciates you, grateful for your years of guidance. He has never forgotten you; he always holds you in the depths of his heart, feeling that in the whole world, although everyone could be lost, he could never lose you. So, Dad, I genuinely wish you a speedy recovery. I hope you can live happily and stay by my child’s side.”

He has never experienced our parental love, but only you, his grandfather, have given him all the love, making him feel you are his everything. Without you, his world would collapse. I hope you live happily, by any means necessary. I will make you smile with joy, live happily, because only then will my son be happy and content.

Perhaps you think my decision is selfish, but I have no choice. I just want my child to live happily. As long as he lives joyously, it doesn’t matter to me if I am the worst villain. As long as he is content all his life, if he is always smiling, then, as a father, I have no regrets. I never dared to ask for too much, knowing that if I wanted too much, there’d be no good way out. I never imagined that one day I could return home, to be with you, to see my father, my child, my daughter-in-law, and my grandson, all joyously together.

I once lost all kinship, I made it all unbearable; I took none of it seriously, abandoning everyone. Now I realize the value of blood ties, that no amount of money can buy them back. I understand the importance of family, the warmth it can bring. So now, no matter what, I will never leave you. I will stay by your side for life, no matter how many years you have left or whatever my lifespan is, I will always accompany you, never leaving your side. Whether you believe it or not, I will let time prove it all. Time always proves everything, showing you that every word I say is true, never a deceit. Perhaps my words were once full of lies and ulterior motives, but now I just want to be genuine, a real person without any false façade.”

Old Master Zhang couldn’t help but feel touched listening to Zhentian’s heartfelt words. For so many years, he had not received such an emotional confession from his son. Now that he had heard it, how could his heart not be stirred? Facing his own child’s provision for his father, even a few simple words show great love. Only then does every person feel that everyone in the world is equal, with the right to enjoy love, depending on which path they choose. A path could lead to no return. If one chooses that path, then all the happiness in their life would come to an end, reaching a halt.

”Your words today truly move me as a father. I never thought my son could one day understand such principles. Since you have come to this realization, what is it that I can’t forgive? You are my own flesh and blood; no matter how great your mistakes, they can’t change this fact. You are my son in the eyes of the law, and I have never severed our father-son relationship. So, no matter what, you can only be my son. Now that you have sincerely apologized, I agree to let you continue living in this home. I just hope that in the future you will think carefully before you act. Don’t be willful, ignoring everyone’s feelings as you did before. That only drives your loved ones further away.”

”Rest assured, I will never do that again. Because I know what I would lose if it happened once more, the consequences it would bring. I’m not foolish. There are things I simply chose not to say, not that I was unaware. So I hope you can trust me, give me another chance. I definitely won’t let such things happen again. I just want to happily stay by your side, watching my family joyfully live together. For a middle-aged person like me, that is the greatest happiness. There is no one who does not care for their family, and I’m no different. It’s just that I chose the wrong way to show it!”
