My Alleged Husband

Chapter 683: Chapter 653: True Heart_1

Zhang Yichen knew what his father meant; all he wanted now was to let his grandfather live a happy life. His grandfather had suffered too many setbacks and too much harm in his life, perhaps preventing him from ever living a truly joyful existence. If, in the days his grandfather remained in this world, Yichen could see him happy, then what difference did it make to him?

He could neglect anything in this world, but he could never abandon his grandfather, for it was his grandfather who had given him the happiest life. It was his grandfather who had helped him achieve his current success. Step by step, his grandfather had cultivated him into a talent, enabling him to stand at the pinnacle of life and ensuring his everlasting happiness and joy.

In his entire life, he had never sincerely thanked anyone, not even those who had helped him the most in his career. In his eyes, the one he was most grateful to was his grandfather. It was his grandfather who had given him such a life, who had provided him with a life of luxury and no worries about food or clothing, who had guided him step by step to the pinnacle of life. All of the credit should go to his grandfather for nurturing and cultivating him. If not for his grandfather, how could he have achieved such success and attracted the attention of thousands?

He really didn’t want to forgive his father at first. Yet, for the sake of his grandfather’s happiness, he decided to forgive his parents. Perhaps only such an ending could ensure his grandfather lived a joyful and happy life. He had never done much to comfort his grandfather, and maybe this was hurting him too. As long as he could do some small things to make his grandfather happy for a long time, he would do anything with all his heart.

When Zhang Zhentian saw his son’s thoughtful expression, he knew what was going through his son’s mind. Maybe he had indeed pushed them too hard. How could one simply forgive decades of abandonment, and truly at that? If it was that easy, what was the point of abandonment? All the harm inflicted upon his child was his doing, leaving them to face numerous hardships. What right did he have to blame them, to wish for them to stay happily by his side without any worries for the rest of his life?

He had never taken any measures in life, and had never wronged anyone, except for his father, his son, and his family. A once happy and peaceful family was torn apart by his own ruthless decision to leave for the sake of freedom, forsaking the family interests and causing his family to be shattered. He caused his father endless pain and his son to be ridiculed time after time. As a father, he had never fulfilled his responsibilities, ultimately owing everything to his family. If time could give him another chance to start over, he would never have made the same decision, sparing his family from suffering while he remained unable to make amends—a most despicable and loathsome situation.

”I know what you two are thinking. Aren’t you just hoping we can truly forgive you so that you can return home and stay by Grandpa’s side with peace of mind? This isn’t too difficult for me. As long as you can stay beside Grandpa, not quarreling at the slightest disagreement or thinking of leaving in pursuit of your own freedom, your selfishness is despicable. Your actions have caused everyone to look down on you, abandoning your own family and the interests of the entire clan for your personal gain—no one will look at you with respect then!

Grandpa has endured too much pain in his life. If you truly consider him your biological father, please treat him well and do not hurt him anymore. The repeated abandonments have inflicted deep wounds on his soul. Do you know how agonizing it is for him to cry in secret in his room, while putting on a strong front in front of us? He smiles to encourage us, to make us live happily, to let us know that even if everyone else abandons us, he is still by our side. His love is so selfless. Why can’t you do the same? Why do you always live so selfishly?”

”Child, we’re sorry. After all, it is our abandonment that has caused you such pain. Our constant discord and actions have inflicted deep wounds on your soul. We have made everything awkward.”

”No matter what you say or how you say it, we have already reconciled. We have forgiven you and allowed you to return home. As long as you stay by Grandpa’s side and make him happy and comfortable in his old age, nothing else is important to me. I can do anything unconditionally for my Grandpa because everything I have is from him. But for you, I can’t because, no matter what, you have never been there for me or given me any affection. The pain you caused is entrenched in the depths of my heart and will never be forgotten; yet, I will still tell you that I have forgiven you, and this time, it is with true sincerity, not for any other reason but to make my Grandpa happy and joyful.

Perhaps you think these words of mine are hurting you, but I hope you also understand why I have spoken them. Your actions have ultimately harmed a whole family. I hope your return will once again bring happiness to our once shattered family...”
