My Alleged Husband

Chapter 682: Chapter 652 Harmony and Unity_1

Old Master Zhang watched his family getting along so harmoniously, and his heart was filled with true happiness. The family that had been shattered beyond repair, against all expectations, had managed to regain its former vitality today. For an elderly man of his age, this was a blessing beyond compare. He did not know how to express his immense gratitude. Although he had faced too many blows in his lifetime, the sight before him made him truly joyous. Everyone has a tender spot in their heart, and Old Master Zhang was no exception.

No elder would wish to see anything other than their family’s happiness. As long as his loved ones led a joyous life, it was enough for him. Who wouldn’t want to see their family thriving in happiness? For everyone, the hardest thing in life is to ensure their kin’s joy. No one knows what the outcome of their life will be, but as long as the family is happy, what else matters?

No one’s life is ever completely smooth sailing. A life without obstacles is not one of joy. Being able to live happily, seeing family members by his side, was all he asked for. There was no need to worry about things that were not his to worry about; it would only exhaust his heart.

”Frankly speaking, seeing you all chatting and laughing together is enough for us elders. As an elder, I’ve never cared how much wealth we have in the family, I only care about whether my loved ones are safe and happy. The unity of the family is the foundation of prosperity.”

My child, to see that you have come to such realization today truly fills me with joy. I never imagined that I would one day witness my family in such harmony. This may perhaps be the most unforgettable scene of my life. Thank you for allowing me to experience such feelings during my lifetime, and for letting me feel that there is still some value in my existence. I never thought about the significance of my being alive, nor had I considered what impact my life would have on my family or what joy it could bring, but today I know. Being able to see my family happy and safe is the greatest happiness and joy in my life!”

Zhentian, as the son, truly felt distressed upon hearing Old Master Zhang’s words.

But he also understood that what his father said was sensible. After all, it was his own mistakes that had deprived his family of years of happiness. What right did he have to return to this home, after repeatedly hurting his family and leaving them deeply scarred? Every time, it seemed his very presence made everything painfully difficult.

If only time could be turned back, he surely wouldn’t have abandoned his family and left this place.

”I’m sorry, my dear father. You’ve been so good to me, sacrificing everything, including your youth. You always wanted to give me the very best, but my selfishness hurt you again and again, causing you so much distress. You’ve never blamed me. Do you know how upset I felt when I learned that you were still waiting for us to return? How desperately I wanted to be by your side right away? But I couldn’t. I know you didn’t want to see me, but I truly wished to be with you.

For many years, I’ve never been by your side, nor have I fulfilled my filial duties. I don’t know with what attitude you should view me, your unfilial son. I know no other son in the world has been as unfilial as me, and no other father, knowing his son was only a month old, would have heartlessly abandoned him for over twenty years. Yet, after everything I did even on the day of my son’s wedding, my son still chose to forgive me. I am deeply grateful, thankful to the heavens for giving me such a choice and for everyone’s kindness towards me.

Perhaps I will never be able to live happily in this lifetime. I could disregard anything in the world, but not my own family. I’m aware that over the years, I’ve done too many terrible things and hurt too many people. But for me, having my son and my father’s forgiveness is enough. Maybe I can’t be by your side for the rest of my life, but just knowing you hold me in your hearts is enough to bring me joy. I know the things I’ve done are unforgivable, the continuous hurts and abandonments have caused you immense psychological damage, and you never harbored hatred towards me. However, I really hope that one day, from my perspective, you can consider my life. I also need to live joyfully. Back then, I abandoned you for freedom, but deep inside, I’ve regretted it!

That you can now forgive me, I am truly content. I have no further demands, as long as I can stay peacefully by your side. If only you would give me this chance, not despise me or cast me out. Being able to accompany you and witness your joyous lives is quite enough for me. I’m not a greedy person; my world has a soul. I have flesh and blood, and I know my family needs care and company. I sincerely apologize for all I’ve done wrong and hope you can truly forgive me, not for some ulterior motive, but out of genuine forgiveness.

I don’t want much, just your forgiveness, to stay by your side, and to see you living happily. That would be the greatest comfort to me.”
