My Alleged Husband

Chapter 349: Chapter 329 Joy upon Joy_1

”Uncle and Auntie, thank you for agreeing to let me marry the man I love the most. I believe you can understand just how happy and joyful I feel right now. This emotion isn’t something that can be expressed in just a few words. I am very grateful to you for giving me this opportunity to spend my life with the man of my dreams. Uncle and Auntie, please rest assured, I will take good care of him and will never let your most cherished son suffer even the slightest grievance or hurt, because he is the man I love in this lifetime!” Ran Zhihan said to Zhang Yichen’s parents.

Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian smiled and said to Ran Zhihan, ”Silly child, what should you be calling us now? Still calling us uncle and auntie, you still see us as outsiders? Don’t forget, you are now our daughter-in-law. Shouldn’t you change the way you address us?”

Ran Zhihan laughed sheepishly. She thought to herself that they were right. Now that she had become the wife of her beloved man, why should she still address her loved one’s parents as uncle and auntie?

”Dad, Mom!” Ran Zhihan spoke up to Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian.

Upon hearing this, Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian were overjoyed inside. This was their daughter-in-law after all, and they had watched their own son’s happiness almost get ruined because of them in the past. But now, seeing the loving couple finally united, how could they as parents not be happy? They only regretted not realizing their mistake sooner. Had they accepted their relationship earlier, perhaps the couple wouldn’t have had to endure so many hardships.

”Silly child, I’m sorry. It was all our fault before, and we caused you and my son so much pain. Had it not been because of us, you two wouldn’t have had to go through so much suffering. Can you forgive us?”

”Mom, what are you talking about? From today onwards, you are my mom too. Whatever decisions you make, I will not oppose, because what happened in the past is behind us, and there is no need to cling to it. Mom, in the future, let’s have our family live happily together. Let’s not allow the past to cause us any more self-blame or guilt. Believe me, as long as we work together, we can surely have the happiest family relationship! Mom, no matter what pain I endured before, now that I can have the happiness I yearn for, it proves that heaven has destined for him and me to walk together in this lifetime. Let’s not bring up past matters anymore. Having our family’s happiness is more than enough!”

”Child, thank you for your magnanimity, thank you for having such a broad heart. To have a daughter-in-law like you must be the fortune we amassed in our previous life. I believe you and my son will surely be together for a very long time. You are a girl who understands others’ feelings; it was I who was thoughtless before, causing so many harms to you and my son. It led to both of you suffering immensely, enduring amnesia and pain. Fortunately, heaven has shown mercy and did not let my past mistakes cause a true separation between you two. If that had happened, I would never be able to forgive myself for causing my own son’s lifelong happiness to be destroyed. How could I face myself then?”

”Child, Daddy never realized you were such a clever and quick-witted child. I truly didn’t expect your heart could be so vast. You see everything so lightly. You don’t value money, status, fame, or power; what you value is the pure love between you and my son. I believe your love for each other comes genuinely from the heart, without any ulterior motives. I am confident that with such feelings, you two can be together life after life, walking down the road without facing any more setbacks. Daddy has also done many things that have wronged you in the past, but I trust you can forgive Daddy, right?” Zhang Zhentian said to Ran Zhihan.

”Of course, you are now my Daddy. You are the father of the man I love most; how could I hold a grudge against you for what you did to me in the past? Daddy, there’s something I don’t know whether I should say or not!”

”Now that we’re family, you can speak freely. There’s no such thing as what should or shouldn’t be said; just say what you want to say!”

”Daddy, now that I have married the man I love most, I can understand what it felt like when you and Mom decided to be together against all odds. If you could be together without caring about anything else in the beginning, then why did you get divorced? There’s nothing between a couple that can’t be resolved; no issue should cost them their most important person. If you truly still have feelings for Mom in your heart, then you should get back together, try to understand each other anew, without mixing in any ulterior motives. I believe heaven will let you and Mom be together again. You two love each other so much; how can you give up on many years of marital affection over a small lie? Mom and Dad, the things you have been through together are so much more than what your son and I have experienced; these are not the kind of things that can be wiped away by a few words, nor forgotten because of a lie. I believe both of you still have each other in your hearts, so why cause such great pain to each other? It’s hurtful to everyone, especially your son. Can you truly bear to see your most beloved son suffer so much? Today is the wedding of your son and me, a day that should be the happiest, yet why won’t you choose to double the joy, making everyone even happier? You both love each other so much; why give up your feelings for each other over a small lie? It’s not easy for a couple to build their relationship; don’t give up your years of marital happiness over a moment’s impulse. Misunderstandings and unfamiliarity shouldn’t let those who care about you endure even harder pain. The fact that you divorced has already caused your son great harm. I have talked to Mom about this as well, but some of the things she and you, Dad, said I find hard to understand. You both say how important your son is to you, so why aren’t you willing to sacrifice a bit of your so-called dignity and face for your son’s happiness and joy? Is your dignity and face really more important than your son’s happiness and joy? Maybe it’s presumptuous of me to say this, but I hope Mom and Dad won’t take offense!”

Ran Zhihan’s words left Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian somewhat dumbfounded. They also could not understand why things had turned out the way they had.”
