My Alleged Husband

Chapter 340: Chapter 320 Wandering the Ends of the Earth_1

”How many times do you need me to repeat myself before you can understand what’s really in my heart? I’ve already said, I want to be with the man I love most, is that really so insignificant in your eyes? I’m your daughter, not a machine; I have feelings too. I don’t want my parents to dominate my marriage. All these years, you’ve been in charge of my life, and I’ve never complained because I thought, as my parents, you have the right to make decisions for me. But today, I realize that even as my parents, I must bravely stand up and fight for my own love. I shouldn’t let my beloved man keep making sacrifices for me while I do nothing. Dad, when you were with Mom at the beginning, didn’t you also go through so much difficulty? Why can you give everything for my mom, but I can’t give up anything for the man I love?”

”From the way you speak, are you planning to disown us as your parents? We raised you, and has it all been for nothing, to raise an ingrate? After struggling so much to raise you from when you were a baby, is this how you repay us? If you want to be with this man, then get out of my house right now and never come back. We will act as if we never had you as a daughter...” Ran Zhihan’s father was furious!

”Dad, I’ve already said, that’s not what I mean. In my heart, you and mom will always come first, but I’m already in my twenties; I have my own life to live and I need to plan for my own future. I too wish that in my life ahead, it’s the man I love most who will be by my side, not someone I don’t love. That would be truly painful. In fact, you and mom know all too well how that feels, how painful it is and the harm it brings to each other; if so, please don’t use that pain to strike me down, okay? Stop making your daughter endure that kind of blow. Do you know how often I wish my parents could show me a little more love? I know, these years, you and mom have always put me in the most important place in your hearts. You have spared no effort for my sake, so that I could grow up without worry. The everything you did for me can never be repaid in this lifetime, but that doesn’t mean you can control my lifelong happiness!”

”Zhihan, how can you speak to your father like this? How did I teach you? Did I teach you to speak to your elders this way? Do you have any manners left, any respect in your eyes? Does your father matter to you, do I not exist as your mother? You didn’t say a word beforehand and you brought this man home. I kept quiet, but you can’t do this. He’s your father, how can you shout at him because of another man? Have you lost all basic reason and decorum? Is this the upbringing you show after so many years of education? We worked so hard to earn money for your education, was it for you to talk to your parents like this?”

”Mom, why are you saying this too? All I want is for you to recognize and let me be with the man I love most, to get married and have children. Is that really so unreasonable and unworthy of your understanding and respect? What exactly do you consider me in your hearts? I’m not just something you pamper on a whim; I’m a living person, and I’m your daughter. How can you do something so hurtful to me? Mom, do you know? In my heart, you are always noble because you gave birth to me and raised me. I can never repay your kindness in this lifetime. Because I’m aware of your kindness, I’ve always been the good girl at home, no matter what you said or did, I endured it all. But why do you still treat me this way? In your hearts, do I really not seem like your daughter? Did you go through all the hard work of having me just to stop me on my path to marriage?”

”Enough, say no more. Pack up your things right now and get out of my house with this man. This house no longer has a daughter like you; we do not welcome you back anymore. From today onwards, we sever all ties. Whatever you want to do in the future, whom you want to marry, or with whom you want to spend your life, is entirely up to you—we, as parents, will not interfere anymore!”

Ran Zhihan’s father had finally uttered harsh words. He was incredibly upset with his daughter; he never thought that his usually intelligent and sensible daughter would lose her reason over a man, that she would shout at her own father over a stranger, and even look at him with the same eyes as one would a foe. His heart ached—had his painstaking efforts to raise his daughter resulted in this kind of repayment? Although he didn’t expect much in return from his daughter, he certainly did not deserve to be hurt like this—he was her father, after all.

”Mom, please plead with Dad for me. If he kicks me out, where will I live?”

”Zhihan, things have gotten to this point, and there’s nothing more I can say. Your father’s stance is clear, and you should know what to do. If you still care about not hurting us, your parents, then hurry up and make this man leave. If he wants to be with you, then let his parents apologize to us. But if you’re going to leave home because of this man, then from today on, you’re no longer our daughter, and this house will no longer have your place. We’ll even remove your name from our household registration, because if you’re no longer our daughter, then your name should not remain on our household book! Child, your mother’s telling you this—doesn’t your heart feel anything? Are you truly willing to give up so many years of kinship over a man?”

”Dad, Mom, I’m sorry, I was wrong, and I’ve made you sad. But I still say the same thing, I don’t want to cause you any trouble because of me. On one hand, there’s the man I love most, and on the other, my parents—I wouldn’t feel right choosing either. Since it has come to this, I’ll move out regardless, but I won’t be together with him. From today on, I’ll wander alone, are you satisfied now?”
