My Alleged Husband

Chapter 343: Chapter 323 Are You Suitable?_1

Ran Zhihan’s parents watched as she left without even looking back, filled with immense disappointment. They could never have imagined that their own daughter would be so ungrateful, ready to abandon her aging parents and leave them all alone.

”You see, that’s the good daughter we’ve protected and treasured. For the sake of a man, she’s willing to discard her own parents. How can she be so selfish? If we’d been a little more selfish ourselves back in the day, our lives wouldn’t have been so hard. But because of her, no matter how difficult or painful it was, we went through it all, we endured. And now, to think that this is the outcome, that she doesn’t even want her own parents and just leaves like that. Since she’s stepped out of this house today, she should never think of coming back into my home in this lifetime. I no longer have a daughter...”

”Uncle, you’ve both misunderstood Zhihan. Don’t you realize how much she cares about you in her heart? To spare you both from heartache, your daughter was willing to leave me, willing to let go of our love that has lasted so many years. I really don’t understand. Why would you hurt such a good daughter? Does it really make you feel better as parents to hurt your precious girl?” Yichen said.

”You still have the nerve to stand here and talk? Easy for you to say, you aren’t the one who’s hurting. She’s the child whom we’ve worked so hard to raise, and just because of you, she’s willing to abandon us, her parents. What more do you want? Are you trying to act innocent after taking advantage? Get out of here, now!” Ran Zhihan’s father yelled at Zhang Yichen.

”Uncle and Auntie, please listen to a story I’m about to tell you. Once I’ve finished the story, I’ll leave without you having to ask. If, by hearing this story, you come to understand, that would be best. If, after hearing it, you still firmly object to me being with your daughter, then I have nothing more to say,” Zhang Yichen spoke.

Ran Zhihan’s parents didn’t say a word, which was as good as an agreement.

”Over a decade ago, there was a little boy who was abandoned by his parents. He was just a month old at that time, but his parents left him behind in their pursuit of personal freedom, leaving behind the boy and his grandfather. Under his grandfather’s tutelage, the boy underwent devilish training every day. He never thought of giving up because every time he was about to, he remembered the ridicule from his classmates at school. They mocked him for having no parents, saying that his parents didn’t want him, casting a great shadow in his heart. However, it was not until he was ten that he went to a valley to train as his grandfather demanded, and there, having been injured, he met a little girl. Her angelic smile made the boy fall for her at first sight. He never forgot that girl, treasuring her as his own life. He vowed that when he grew up, he would marry this girl and have her by his side, promising her everything he could ever possess, ready to offer it all with both hands. The boy faced the devilish training over and over again but never thought of letting go. He knew if he gave up halfway, he would not only disappoint his classmates, but it would also be a relief to his parents, who abandoned him. Following his grandfather’s cultivation, the boy climbed upwards relentlessly, overcoming all difficulties and achieved something in the end. He proved to his parents that he was not incompetent, that it was a mistake to abandon him. However, ten years later, his parents returned, wanting to acknowledge the boy, who was utterly unwilling and displeased. That very day, on the streets, the girl he had searched for tirelessly for ten years appeared before him. He was ecstatic at that moment. The boy and the girl weathered many storms together. The boy’s initial motivation was not only to prove himself to his parents, or to punish the classmates who mocked him. He feared that ten or twenty years later, upon meeting that girl again, he would feel unworthy of her. The boy’s parents had caused the girl much harm, simply because the boy had repeatedly turned his own parents away from home, feeling unhappy with them for abandoning him. Later, the girl was pushed off a cliff, and in his determination to be with her, the boy abandoned everything and jumped off the cliff after her. By some miracle, they both survived in this world but lost their memories. The boy recovered all of his memories after a short time, but the girl had forgotten everything, not remembering any details of her time with the boy, which truly saddened him. Yet he did not give up, believing that one day he could help his beloved woman remember. He waited for three whole years, never leaving her side, fearing that if he left, she would remember and he would miss the chance to be with the person he loved most. He was scared. Eventually, the boy’s parents finally agreed to let the girl be with the boy and approved of their marriage and having children. The boy’s parents also divorced after some setbacks. When the girl finally decided to take the boy home, they came to her house in incredible bliss, but in the end, it was her parents who strongly opposed their union,” Yichen finished, then turned to leave. Ran Zhihan’s father called out to Zhang Yichen.

”Son, I don’t know what you’re trying to say with all this, but I hope you understand. I know you two have been through a lot, deep and unforgettable things, but I never expected them to be so profound for both of you. Perhaps I’ve made a mistake in my decision, but are you truly suited for each other? Are you so certain that my daughter will be happy with you for a lifetime? Are you sure that if she’s with you, you won’t let her shed a single tear over anything for as long as you both shall live?”
