My Alleged Husband

Chapter 347: Chapter 327: Finding My Beloved Wife_1

”Child, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have spoken to you in that tone, it was my fault, but I also trust you are a good child, who can understand why I spoke to you that way. Your parents brought so much hurt to my daughter, and as a father myself, I am biased and afraid that my daughter could be harmed in any way. You know, no parent wishes to see their child receive even the slightest bit of pain; they’d rather take on the hurt themselves. So, I hope you can forgive me for speaking to you like that and for wanting to kick you out of the house. If you can bring my daughter back, then you two should go ahead and have a formal wedding. Once married, you can live together without having to worry about being separated in the future!”

”Thank you, Uncle. You’re worried over nothing. How could I possibly blame you? I know that you said those words out of fear that I wouldn’t treat your daughter well. I also understand that as a parent, it is truly a kind of hurt. Uncle, let’s not bring up the past anymore. Let what’s gone by slip away with the winds of the past, and let’s not dwell on it. We should live our future days happily; we need to look forward. If you always stay in the same place, how can you ever discover anything new? How can you walk towards a bright future?”

”Right, I just forgot to tell you another condition I have. This condition is that my daughter cannot have children within three years of marrying you. I hope you can agree to this.” Ran Zhihan’s father added, after some thought. He knew it was rude to make such a request, but it was necessary. As someone who’d experienced much, who’d seen the joys and sorrows of many families, he knew how hard it was to sustain a happy family throughout a lifetime. He couldn’t allow his daughter to regret later in life. He was making this demand because if his daughter and this man could live together for over three years without any marriage disputes, then it would prove their true love. He was afraid that if his daughter had a child right after getting married and then, if their marriage turned sour, she would have to leave her son and painfully walk away. For his daughter’s lifelong happiness, he made this decision.

”Uncle, you’re making this request because you’re afraid that after we get married and have a child, if the marriage goes bad, the child would be caught in the middle, right?”

”I must admit, you are indeed a very clever boy. I didn’t spell it out, but you hit the nail on the head. You’re right, this is exactly what I think. I don’t want you to have a child soon after marrying my daughter, nor do I want the child to become an anchor in case of marital discord that would bind you both forever in misery. If within three years you have any quarrels that lead to court and divorce proceedings, and you don’t have a child, the divorce would be simple for both of you—a relief. But if there’s a child and you want to divorce, it would only bind you together forever, bringing happiness to neither, only burdening both! I know, it’s presumptuous of me to say this, which might take you by surprise, but I hope you can consider whether I’m making sense. If you can agree, then I hope you’ll promise to keep it a secret. Don’t tell my daughter. If she finds out, she will definitely not stay with you, because she wouldn’t want you marrying her just because you agreed to so many conditions. It would hurt her pride!”

Ran Zhihan’s wife truly hadn’t expected her husband to think so deeply and farsightedly. She knew it was right for him to make this decision. Whether right or not, she’d support her husband unconditionally, for she, like her husband, never wanted her beloved daughter to suffer the slightest harm. She would give everything unconditionally for her daughter’s benefit.

”Uncle, I promise you, I will keep this secret. And I also assure you that, no matter the years, I will never engage in any quarrel with your daughter. Even if we quarrel, I won’t let your daughter divorce me. We will never reach the day of divorce, because I believe my relationship with your daughter is based on love, not benefit, so I trust that our love can be ’stronger than gold.’”

Zhang Yichen had just finished speaking when he left, turned around, and sat in his own car to make a phone call.

”Zhihan, where are you? Do you know? Your parents have already agreed to let us be together. Please come back quickly. As soon as you return, we can immediately get married. I want to keep you by my side for the rest of my life to take good care of you. I’ll never let you get hurt because of me, not even the slightest bit. I’ll also never allow you to feel the slightest grievance. I’ll use all my ability, all my power to protect you from harm because you are the woman I love the most in this life!”

”Really? Did my parents truly agree to let us be together? How is that possible? Before, my father would never agree to let us be together. How could his attitude change completely just because I’ve been away for a few days? Did you promise something to my father?”

”Yes, I did promise your father something. I promised him that I would spend my life with you, that I would use all my ability to protect you, to not let you get hurt, to not let you shed a single tear because of me. If I didn’t make such a promise, how could I possibly marry the woman I love most?”

”Besides that, you didn’t agree to anything else?”

Zhang Yichen realized that his fiancée was just too clever. No matter what he said, she always managed to throw his words back at him. If she found out about the other thing he had promised her future father-in-law, who knows what his beloved woman would think?

”Of course, I didn’t agree to anything else. Your father just hopes that we can live happily together. He has no other purpose. So, as long as I promise to treat you well, he would agree to let us be together! Hurry back, I am waiting for you here. As soon as you’re back, we’ll immediately proceed with the wedding...”
