My Alleged Husband

Chapter 342: Chapter 322: No Way Out_1

”Mom, Dad, I am your daughter, the one you’ve raised through so much hardship. I know that by making this decision today against your wishes, I’m causing you pain, but I also hope you can consider my perspective. I have my own life to lead, my own future to create. I do not wish for anyone or anything to stand in my way, otherwise, I won’t know the path to happiness. Mom and Dad, you should both know that you came together because of true love, despite your families being against it, and I am truly grateful for that. If you hadn’t been so defiant, I wouldn’t be here today. But Mom and Dad, if you could defy the world for love, why can’t I do the same? I have my own path I want to take. I too hope that I can receive my parents’ love throughout my life. Do you know how much I wished for your blessings when I brought the man I love home to meet you? But the reality was a shock to me. Your words were nothing like I had imagined. Even though I had anticipated your disapproval of us being together, I never expected such heart-wrenching rejection. You are my parents; how can you bear to hurt me—your daughter—like this? I know what you’re thinking, and I understand that you have your reasons, but even after I begged you, can’t you consider my feelings? I truly wish to spend my life with the man I love. If you ask me to live with a man I don’t love, I’d rather die. Living with someone I don’t love would be unbearable. I will marry no one but him, and if you truly cannot accept us together, then I have no choice but to leave alone, never to return or contact you again. Consider it as though you never had this daughter. Of course, by cutting contact with you, I will also not reach out to him. If I am not in touch with my own parents, what right do I have to contact the man I once loved? I cannot elope with the man I love behind my parents’ backs; I can’t do it, it would be too selfish. Although sometimes I understand that everyone is selfish to a degree, I hope more to be selfless because my parents have given so much to me selflessly. I cannot let you suffer because of me. I want to make you proud, but how can I be your pride if you’ve erased me from your hearts?”

”My daughter, why can’t you understand your parents’ intention? Everything we do has its difficulties; can’t you think about us as your parents?”

”Mom, Dad, I’ve never wanted to disobey you, and today is the first and last time I will. You say I haven’t considered your perspective; I know you have your difficulties. But must I endure the pain of being separated from the man I love? I believe you both know me well. Once I make a decision, I will not quit until I achieve what I want. If I cannot reach the outcome I desire, I’d rather never mention it again. You should understand me—so why don’t you, as my parents, understand the thoughts and feelings of your daughter? Am I really doing all this just for myself? I am also doing it so you can be happy, yet you feel unhappy about me being with the man I love...”

”Child, we can accept you being with anyone, but just not him. Because he’s not just the son of a rich family—he’s the son of a mercenary, with a mercenary mother. Do you think that a mercenary has a tender heart? Can she truly care for you? She will still see you as an enemy. We make these decisions for your own good...”

”Please don’t use the excuse of ’it’s for your own good’ as the reason to reject my relationship with him. It only makes me feel my parents are being hypocritical. I’ve never thought to disobey you, but today, I truly defied you against my conscience. I really am at my wit’s end. Now, I understand what I must do!”

”Yichen, just listen to me quietly. From today on, let’s not contact each other anymore. I will leave this place alone, change my name, and my contact information. None of you should look for me; even if you try, you won’t find me. Now that I’ve made this decision, I won’t ever regret it. If his parents really don’t agree with us being together, then I have no solution. I can’t hurt my own parents by eloping with you, can I? I believe you are the one who understands me best. You know I could never be so selfish or self-centered. I know how empathetic I am. I’d rather bear more hardships than let my beloved suffer even the slightest harm. I know that by saying these words to you today, I’ve dealt a huge blow to you, but you’ve seen my parents disagreeing with our union. There is nothing I can do. It wouldn’t be right to make your parents apologize to mine because your parents are like mine too. Perhaps my leaving now is for the best; only by my departure will my parents stop troubling you, and only then can they reflect on what should be done. My only choice now is to leave on my own, which might hurt you deeply, but I hope you can understand my suffering. I really have no other way out, I am at a dead end. This is the only path I could think of, please don’t make it harder for me.”

”But after being together for so long, do you really have the heart to leave me here alone? I can give up wealth, status, and even my parents, but I can’t lose you.”

”Yichen, don’t talk nonsense like that. No matter what happens, you can’t abandon your own parents. Remember my words—maybe one day we’ll meet again. Remember our three-year promise!”

Ran Zhihan left without even taking her suitcase!
