My Alleged Husband

Chapter 315: Chapter 295 Dead End_1

Ran Zhihan had thought that by leaving the man she loved, everything would go as she wished, but she could never have imagined what would happen after she left Zhang Yichen. What kind of ending would she face?

Just a few days after Ran Zhihan left Zhang Yichen, she found herself unable to carry on with her life. She visited various places to find the job she wanted, but no one dared to hire her. Everyone’s response was along the lines of, ”Sorry, the president has said that if we hire you without authorization, our company would face closure, so I’m sorry...”

Every time she heard this, her heart nearly collapsed. Only now did she truly understand the saying that ”money talks.” Having money felt incredible; it could make anyone do her bidding and keep the poor permanently under her feet. She now realized that if she had thought twice before making that decision, perhaps she wouldn’t have ended up in such a desperate situation with nowhere to turn. Ran Zhihan wished she could go back to her beloved man, but what good would that do? After some consideration, she finally decided to seek out her ex-boyfriend with a thick skin.

When Zhang Yichen saw that it was Ran Zhihan coming to him, he was quite curious. Hadn’t this woman declared that it was over? Why had she come back to him now?

”Well, well, look who it is? Isn’t this my ex-girlfriend? Who was it that said she could still live well without me, and who was it that said she didn’t need me by her side? How did you end up in such a state? Even wearing ripped jeans (and not the fashionable kind), doesn’t seem like you’re doing too bad. So, what now? Have you come back to boast about how happy you are?” Zhang Yichen, the economic tycoon, spoke without considering others’ feelings, only capable of using his words to strike at others. Perhaps it was because of this that he could stand firm in such a cruel society, allowing no one to bring down his company, allowing no one to harm him.

On hearing this, Ran Zhihan felt enraged, ”Do you find this amusing? Did you purposefully announce to the whole world that I’m no longer your girlfriend from today onward, and tell everyone not to let me work at their companies, just to cut off my financial sources, all for revenge? Do you think this is right?”

”Look at you, what are you even saying? Just a few days ago, weren’t you all high and mighty wanting to break up with me? Weren’t you the one who said you could live better without me? Didn’t you say that you didn’t care about me and weren’t with me for the money? Since you don’t value money, why bother earning it? What I’m doing is just helping you; I’m proving that you can live in this world without money. Am I wrong? You said one thing right, I am indeed getting back at you. Just think back a few days ago, the very day you were so resolute to part ways with me, I had already warned you that unless you gave me no chance, I would certainly take my revenge. Leave you with no way out, cut off all your financial sources, and make you and your parents unable to survive in this world. Now, I have kept my word, but why can’t you keep yours? Didn’t you say you would never come crawling back to me? Are you here now, ready to beg for my forgiveness?”

”You really have a sense of humor, why should I beg you? If the one who did wrong isn’t me, why should I ask you? Just because you’re rich and an economic emperor, should everything go your way? Everyone is equal; no matter how much money you have, you’re still a person...”

”Yes, you’re right, even if I have vast wealth, I am indeed still a person but, as you know, people are ranked differently. You are now on the bottom, while I’m part of the upper echelons of society. Because I have money and you don’t, I can use it. With my wealth, power, and influence, I can keep you permanently under my thumb, and you’ll never be able to turn the tables. Is there something wrong with that too? You must know after living for nearly twenty years, the cruelty of society. By showing you just how cruel this society can be in my own way, aren’t you being a little ungrateful and resentful towards me instead? What I did was indeed a great favor to you. Think about it, by leaving me, you gained freedom, and because of your departure, I suffered unbearably. This was your revenge against me, but On the other hand, your leaving made me realize you were nothing but a woman hungry for vanity, and the kind of person I detest most in my life is one who covets wealth. So why can’t I get back at you in my own way? And everything I did to you today is purely out of revenge!”

”With you acting like this, what makes you think I would come back to beg you?” Ran Zhihan was infuriated.

”What makes me think? You just said yourself that you weren’t the one in the wrong, which means you think I am. I would really like to know, what kind of heart do you have? My grandfather sent you to the United States to study at great cost, and after returning, this is how you treat me, how you repay me? During the three years you lost your memory, didn’t I treat you well? Yet, once you regained your memory, you heartlessly chose to abandon me. Do you think this is my fault as well? Many things aren’t as complicated as you imagine; you’re the one complicating them. If you approach me with your complicated reasoning, then I have no choice but to take revenge on you. Without retribution, I can’t find peace within myself. For all the humiliations and bullying I’ve endured growing up, I’ve never thought about getting back at them. I just wanted to prove that I’m stronger than them, which I did. But as for you, I can only choose revenge, because I am already so much stronger than you. You obtained your degree abroad with my family’s money, so what right do you have to be proud? Since you chose to leave, please kindly reimburse me all the money spent on your study abroad, including all contacts and benefits secured through my family...”

”Are you trying to drive me to death?”

”Don’t be so dramatic. How could I bear to drive you to death? You’re my ex-girlfriend, the one who heartlessly left me. I will make sure you’ll beg for life but find death elusive. I’ll force you into a corner and make sure you can’t survive in this world. I’ll have you crawling back, step by step, begging for my forgiveness...”

”Fine, since you’ve said so much, let’s wait and see. Even if it kills me, I will not beg you!”

”Remember your words!”

In reality, Zhang Yichen merely wanted to test the love that had developed during their three years of amnesia. But he had not expected the outcome to be so heartbreaking, with his girlfriend ruthlessly leaving him, something he couldn’t accept.

If Ran Zhihan knew what would happen next, she would never have let go of the man she loved.
