My Alleged Husband

Chapter 345: Chapter 325 Dilemma_1

Ran Zhihan’s father also didn’t know what exactly he should do, on one hand was his daughter’s lifelong happiness, and on the other, it could potentially be the disaster of her lifetime. What kind of choice should he make to ensure that his most beloved daughter could live a happy and safe life?

”Wife, why do you think our daughter has become what she is today? Could it really be because I controlled her too much? I, as a father, had no ill intentions. I just hoped that she could safely live through her life, that was enough for me. I never wanted my daughter to suffer even the slightest harm because of anything; was I wrong to do so? Just because I made this decision, did my daughter choose to leave, to not want me as her father anymore?” Ran Zhihan’s father said to Ran Zhihan’s mother.

”Actually, I also don’t know how to make this decision. To speak from the heart, the boy is really good. His character is indeed much nobler than many. Moreover, he is willing to give to our daughter, not sparing anything for her sake. He could do anything for our daughter. If it were another man, maybe they would kick our daughter to the curb over a little discord between husband and wife, but this boy definitely won’t, because I believe him. I believe his mannerisms. I believe his pride. His pride gives me a very secure feeling. Maybe you think it’s unreliable to judge my daughter’s lifelong happiness based on feelings, but do you have a better way? Have you seen those men who came to pursue our daughter, are any of them really better than this man? Every one of those men just wanted to deceive her because of her innocence and kindness, to play with her and then kick her away!”

”Wife, actually I believe there is some truth in what you say, and I know that the decisions you make usually aren’t wrong, but I still don’t want to let those two be together so easily. A relationship that comes too easily won’t last. If we let them be together without any effort, they will not treasure their relationship in the future. A relationship is not only about treasuring each other but also about mutual trust and the unwavering determination to stick together. I believe that they already have these necessary things, but they still lack experience. Three years of experience isn’t truly enough; the ups and downs of three years only represent coincidence but real fate is that, despite many people being willing to oppose them, making it impossible for them to be together, the end result is that they can overcome everyone’s opposition and be together again. That’s what you call meant to be; that’s what you call a true marriage. Only with such hard-earned feelings will they cherish each other and not easily say, ’say goodbye.’ We both have gone through it; we both have experienced those feelings. We know how hard they are to come by which is exactly why we want our daughter to experience it herself. Maybe you think I’m being selfish, but I also hope that my daughter can understand what true feelings are in her lifetime. I don’t want her to make a rash decision now and regret it later. I want her to think carefully before making the right decision, not to make a lifelong regrettable decision on impulse. Maybe you are right; the boy is indeed a good person, and his family background is even better. It’s precisely because of this that I am more afraid of marrying my daughter off to him. How many rich young men can truly treat the daughters of commoners with sincerity? How many can stay true to a commoner’s daughter? From this boy, I have seen many conspicuous virtues, I know how hard his life has been, and I also believe every word he has told us is true. He’s not a child who lies; if he lies, his face turns red, but in front of us, he told not a single lie because he sincerely wants to be with our daughter. I am very comforted by that, but I can’t simply give my daughter to him based on this alone. For my daughter’s lifelong happiness, I must ensure it for her, I can’t just watch my daughter leap into a sea of misery. I want her to forever live in a paradise of love...”

Ran Zhihan’s mother had never expected that her husband would have planned so much for their daughter, staunchly denying their daughter being with that boy, all for the purpose of ensuring her future life path. She finally understood that all the things her husband had done were all for their daughter to live a safe and happy life, without suffering any harm, much less being bullied by anyone.

”Husband, I know, it’s not only our daughter who feels torn by this kind of choice, even I, as a mother, feel torn. On one side is our daughter’s lifelong happiness, but on the other, I feel the need to test our future son-in-law’s determination, only to push our daughter away in the end. When I just saw our daughter, you saw the back of her leaving, do you know how heartbroken I felt? That was my own flesh and blood, and yet she left without even turning her head back, looking at me as if I were an enemy. For a mother, that is a kind of unbearable agony, yet I could only suppress the tears in my eyes, unable to let them fall, because I needed to be a role model for my daughter. I couldn’t let my daughter be looked down upon, I wanted my daughter to live with dignity her whole life, I wanted her to live a safe and peaceful life!”

”Wife, this is my fault, I didn’t have time to consider your feelings, I’m sorry, but I hope that you can still support me. I truly am doing this for our daughter, and I believe you can feel what my purpose is. I’ve never wanted to hurt anyone, but our daughter constantly gets hurt by others. Our daughter, who we have raised with so much effort, why should she allow others to bully or dispose of her at their whim? If that’s the case, then why on earth should my daughter be with their son? Just because his son comes from a wealthy family, should my daughter be willing to be played by him over and over?”

Ran Zhihan’s parents felt really conflicted by this affair, unsure of what to do to avoid chilling their daughter’s heart...
