My Alleged Husband

Chapter 333: Chapter 313 Discharged from Rehabilitation_1

Time flies, and Zhang Yichen had already recovered and left the hospital. Right now, he had no other thought in his head; he just wanted to marry the girl he loved and bring her home as soon as possible. He couldn’t bear the thought of his beloved woman leaving him again because that feeling was simply too despairing.

During the nearly two weeks he spent in the hospital, it felt like years to him. He despised every moment there, feeling as if he were living the life of a prisoner. Now that he finally had his wish granted and had been discharged, why did he still feel unhappy? Was it because he hadn’t fulfilled his greatest wish: to make the woman he loved his true wife? But these things couldn’t be rushed; they required both their parents’ consent. His own parents would have to formally ask for the hand of his beloved girl’s parents.

Although he didn’t know much, he at least understood that if a man and a woman really wanted to get married, they needed the consent of both parents. Moreover, the man needed to present a bride price to the woman’s parents, and only after the woman’s parents officially consented to their relationship could they truly have both families’ blessings. Only then could they be properly engaged and become husband and wife. Otherwise, their relationship wouldn’t be considered legitimate.

”Yichen, congratulations, you’ve finally got your wish and left the hospital today. I know how bored you were staying there during this week. You couldn’t wait to get out, but that’s how cruel the world is. Unless the doctors agree that you’re completely healed, you had to stay trapped in that hospital for an entire week! Now that you’ve been discharged, do you feel much more relaxed, without that hospital smell of disinfectant lingering around?” Ran Zhihan said to Zhang Yichen with a giggle.

”You do understand. You have no idea how ecstatic I was when I stepped out of the hospital doors. I’ve finally walked out of that jail-like prison, and I don’t have to stay in that suffocating hospital anymore. You know? I’ve been awake these past few days, and all I smelled was disinfectant. That smell is unforgettable; I bet I won’t be able to eat for the next few days because my nose has been so irritated. I can breathe in nothing but the smell of disinfectant. Even now that I’ve left the hospital, the scent still lingers in my nose. I don’t know how many days it will take for it to disappear from my senses!”

”Alright, you’ve finally got your wish to be discharged, so stop complaining about this and that. Think about it, you were able to leave the hospital so quickly, isn’t it all thanks to my careful care? You don’t thank me and instead complain about the hospital’s smell of disinfectant. Did you think I didn’t smell it while I was taking care of you? It’s all in my nerves too, but what could I do? The man I love the most was lying there,” she retorted.

”Yes, yes, thank you, my dearest woman. If not for your care over these days, I surely would have collapsed. But thanks to you, I was able to leave the hospital so quickly. Also, I’m quite grateful for this illness, because if I hadn’t had this car accident, how could you have agreed to stay by my side for a lifetime? It’s a blessing in disguise. I’m too happy to complain about the long hospital stay. It’s just that the disinfectant smell in the hospital is unbearable. It’s so foul!”

...

While they were engaged in animated conversation, Xia Jing, Zhang Zhentian, and Old Master Zhang approached them.

”Uncle, Auntie, Grandfather, you’re here. Look, hasn’t she recovered and been discharged?” Ran Zhihan said.

”Good child, thank you for your day and night care for him over these days. If not for you, he wouldn’t have been discharged so quickly. Look at how lively he is now; it’s really beyond our expectations. You’ve taken such good care of him these days, and we don’t know how to repay you. When we get home, we’ll discuss your marriage,” Xia Jing said.

Ran Zhihan’s face flushed red immediately, ”Auntie, there’s no hurry with that matter. I want to wait a bit longer before we talk about our marriage. He’s just recovered and shouldn’t overexert himself. He needs to rest properly...”

”Look at this girl, she’s shy. You two were all lovey-dovey just now; why so coy in front of your elders?”

”Wife, stop teasing Zhihan,” Zhang Zhentian said to Xia Jing.

Upon hearing Zhang Zhentian refer to her in this way, Xia Jing was unsatisfied, ”We are already divorced. I hope you can watch your language, stop with these inappropriate terms. It only makes me think less of you, not taking yourself seriously!”

”Auntie, let’s go home. The wind is a bit strong out here, and Yichen has just been discharged. He’s not fully recovered yet; we should go home and let him recuperate. If he catches a cold now, it might flare up again!”

Upon hearing this, Xia Jing thought it made sense; she did not want her son to catch a cold again.

Old Master Zhang started talking, ”Indeed, let’s not stand at the hospital entrance anymore; it’s not a good look. Let’s go home and talk there. It’s warmer, and we’ll have the cozy smell of our own home, which is much more comfortable than here...”

They all got in their private car and returned to the Zhang Family Mansion. Upon arriving, Zhang Zhentian kept calling Xia Jing ”wife,” which she found intolerable. She promptly pulled him into their former bedroom.

”Wife, be gentle, don’t hurt your husband. Don’t you know how to cherish your husband?” Zhang Zhentian continued calling Xia Jing with no filter, which made her even more agitated.

”Zhang Zhentian, how many times do I have to tell you? We’re already divorced. Stop this relentless bothering. Do you realize that you’re making me despise you? What are you doing, being a grown man like this? Divorced means divorced; there’s no turning back from what happened between us. Why are you still clinging to me? Didn’t you consider that you’d end up like this when you chose to let go? Since you made that decision back then, why come begging now? This really disgusts me. From now on, don’t call me that in front of others!”
