My Alleged Husband

Chapter 306: Chapter 286: Xia Jing’s Apology!_1

Xia Jing still lived there alone, her place truly being hidden. Many outsiders had no idea that such a place even existed. Zhang Zhentian had always been a man who disliked going out. If it weren’t for Xia Jing, he would never have traveled to various countries. However, how could he have known that in one of the countries he had visited, there lay a most secluded forest, and it was within that forest where Xia Jing resided.

In fact, Xia Jing herself was a bit worried. Day by day, she counted the time, afraid that once the three years were up, she would not be able to meet Zhang Zhentian. Then she would have to fulfill the bet they made three years ago. Did she truly wish for that day to come?

But time was relentless. When she woke up today, it was the last day of those three years. The day had arrived, but Zhang Zhentian hadn’t found her. Hence, she must fulfill the promise made three years ago and proceed to the civil affairs bureau to go through with the divorce. When Xia Jing thought about this, a shimmering tear fell from the corner of her eye. She truly couldn’t bear to leave the husband she had been with for over a decade. Yet since time had decreed it so, it proved that the bond of marriage between them had come to an end.

Xia Jing prepared to call Zhang Sheng Tian. Before heading to the civil affairs bureau to complete the divorce procedures, she wanted to find her son’s fiancée. She wanted to apologize to her, as it was her fault that Ran Zhihan had been so grievously hurt. She couldn’t be so selfish; having done something wrong, she needed to take responsibility.

When Ran Zhihan saw Xia Jing arriving at the place she lived, she was somewhat confused. Who was this unfamiliar woman? Why had she come to where she lived, and why was she looking at her so strangely?

”I’m looking for Ran Zhihan!”

”That’s me!”

”Today, I came to talk to you because there are a few words I want to say. I know you’ve been through a breakup, but it doesn’t matter. I don’t care whether you can understand the significance of what I’m saying. But I do hope you’ll let me finish speaking to you. Consider it fulfilling an unfinished wish of mine.”

Ran Zhihan remained silent.

”I’m sorry. Because of my prejudice and my selfishness, you and my son suffered so much harm. It was also due to my return to the country that you were exposed to so much misfortune. Can you forgive me? No matter how much you hate me, the events have long passed. I hope you can forget what happened in the past and look to a fresh future. I also hope you can accept me as your so-called mother-in-law. I know the things I did before are unforgivable, but after all, I am the mother of your future husband. For his sake, can you forgive me? I will never do those outrageous things to you again. You can be with my son without any worries. The main reason I came today is to apologize for all the harm and the various reasons that have hurt you, all of which were because of me. Even though you have forgotten everything now, I believe one day you will remember. I don’t care if you will recall the past events, but I do hope that when you regain your memories, you can also remember what I said today. No matter what happens to me and my husband in the future, I hope you will take good care of my son. His sincerity towards you is irreplaceable, and for you, he would even disown me as his mother. You must not let him down; you must not break his heart again. Deep down, I believe you can feel how good my son is to you, his meticulous care—even beyond what he shows me, his mother. I also believe you truly love my son. I have witnessed your love; not even life or death can separate you. Then why should I come between you? Just be happy together. A world without you might be a big loss for anyone, but for my son, it would be catastrophic. I know you may not fully understand what I am saying, but thank you for letting me express myself. It makes me feel much better!”

”Auntie, I really don’t understand what you mean by what you just said. Can you explain it to me? Why are you saying these things to me? And how do you know that I have forgotten the past events?”

”There are many things that I need not mention again. I believe there will come a day when you will understand. Right now, I just want to make one thing clear to you. You fell off a cliff because of me and lost your memories. My son searched for you at the bottom of that cliff for so long, to no avail. In the end, choosing to die alongside you, he jumped from the cliff out of love. You know in your heart that it’s rare for a man to make such a sacrifice for a woman unless he truly loves her to the core and cannot extricate himself. Otherwise, he would never risk his life like that. Child, no matter how much I hurt you in the past, no matter what I did to your parents, I hope you won’t take it out on my son. His love for you is incomparable!”

After saying her piece, Xia Jing turned around and left, not allowing Ran Zhihan a chance to respond.

After Xia Jing left, she called Zhang Zhentian, feeling it was time to settle the bet they had made three years ago.

Zhang Zhentian, looking dejected, pulled out his phone and saw the caller ID he had long awaited. Excited, he hurriedly answered the call.

”Xia Jing, where are you? I’ve searched for you everywhere for three years and haven’t found you anywhere in the world. Where could you possibly be hiding? Do you really not want to live with me? For these three years, you’ve been avoiding me like I’m your enemy. Are you afraid of me finding you? But do you know how much I’ve hoped to find you, to continue our life together? Your evasion has really broken my heart!”

”You don’t need to say so much. Three years have passed. You couldn’t have forgotten the bet we made three years ago, right? We agreed back then that if you could find me, I would go back with you and never leave you for the rest of my life. But three years have gone by, and you haven’t found me, so now we should honor the words we said then. We should get divorced and not continue together, because even fate hasn’t sided with us. That means our marital affection has truly run its course. Let go. It’s better for both of us, and we won’t cause any more trouble for each other!”

”It’s impossible for me to just let go, whether I found you or not. Since you’ve called me today, I will never let you leave my side again. Starting today, you are still my wife. You can forget about escaping from my grasp for the rest of your life. You will only stay by my side, sleep with me. This is what’s meant by destiny; destined, you are meant to be my wife, Zhang Zhentian, for life. So, even if we get divorced, you won’t be with anyone else. Instead of being lonely for the rest of your life, why not give me another chance?”
