This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

The phone rang less than twice before Kang Zhirong picked it up.

Du Heng didn’t waste any time, as soon as the call connected, he asked directly, ”Xiao Kang, I heard from Mr. Liao that you’ve been sued?”

On the other end, Kang Zhirong sighed and said, ”Not yet sued, that guy found a lawyer, and came directly to my door.

He said if I didn’t agree to his conditions, he’d take me to court.”

Du Heng sighed with relief, feeling slightly more relaxed, ”What’s that person trying to do?”

”Wants money.” Kang Zhirong said dejectedly, ”He claims I intentionally injured him, causing his chest cavity infection.

When everything’s tallied up, he wants me to compensate him 188,647.50 yuan, and the medical expenses are extra, not included in this amount.”

Listening to Kang Zhirong, Du Heng suddenly felt a bit stunned, and started to feel more discontent towards Liao Quansheng.

That kid, called last night talking about 188,000 yuan, making him misunderstand.

Like Kang Zhirong said, with all the odd figures, this does sound like something real.

Adjusting his mood, Du Heng went on to ask, ”Why is he suing you, no, why is he asking for so much money?

I remember he was about to be discharged, so why is it serious again?”

Kang Zhirong’s voice was weak, you could hear him hesitating, ”The lawyer he hired took the early stage medical record from the hospital, saying it’s based on the record that it cost so much.

I had Lawyer Zhou look at that medical record too, Lawyer Zhou didn’t see any issues.”

Upon hearing Lawyer Zhou was already involved, Du Heng started to furrow his brows.

With professionals involved, he didn’t think he could do much, he was even tempted to just pay and settle the matter.

But upon thinking more about it, the whole thing felt frustrating, especially with how Kang Zhirong described that person, it felt even more irritating.

”You should ask for more advice from Lawyer Zhou regarding this matter, don’t act on your own, got it?”

”I know, I won’t act recklessly.”

”Alright, once it’s done, send me the medical record of that person, I’ll see if there’s anything wrong.”

”Okay.”

Kang Zhirong’s reply was devoid of any emotional expression.

Du Heng also sighed, ”By the way, where’s your Sister-in-law, what’s she been doing these days?”

”Getting the Child vaccinated, I’m waiting downstairs now.”

”Vaccinated?”

Du Heng felt a bit stunned.

Although he is a father, he seems to be far from competent.

He himself is a Doctor, has even worked at township clinics, yet he completely forgot about such an important thing concerning the Child, leaving it entirely to Wu Shengnan to worry about.

Du Heng sighed deeply, and after saying goodbye, decisively hung up the phone.

No need to think, if he called Wu Shengnan now, he’d definitely get an earful.

Ever since Wu Shengnan gave birth, Du Heng felt like his Wife wasn’t as gentle as before, and her mind wasn’t focused on him anymore.

Compared to before, it’s like two completely different states.

Honestly, he was very disappointed inside.

Just as Kang Zhirong put down his Mobile phone, he saw Wu Shengnan holding the Child, coming out from the vaccination area.

Kang Zhirong immediately rushed to greet her, ”Sister-in-law, is the shot done?”

Wu Shengnan nodded, frowning, ”There’s so many people, I should have thought of asking Xiao Wu for help.”

”I said long ago, for vaccinations, you should consult Wu Buwei and his team, they surely have ways.” Kang Zhirong walked ahead, speaking softly, ”With so many people, and the Child being so young, with still underdeveloped immunity, if they catch something like a cold or cough, it would be hard on the Child.”

”Alright, our Xuanxuan isn’t that delicate.” Wu Shengnan directly disagreed with Kang Zhirong’s thought, ”Don’t assume I don’t know anything, regardless of age, the Child should interact more with Society.

After all, this Child grows day by day, eventually will attend school, and interact with people.

If constantly pampered like a hothouse flower, what about future interactions? Will they interact with people or not?”

Kang Zhirong raised his eyebrows, not daring to follow up on Wu Shengnan’s topic, ”By the way, Sister-in-law, Du just called me.”

”Anything?”

”No, just asked about you and the Child.”

Wu Shengnan unhappily pouted, ”Stop covering for him, if he truly cared about me and the Child, he should call me.

Also, there’s something wrong with him, you should deal with him less.

A few days ago when he returned, he was so enthusiastic, couldn’t wait to video call ten times a day.

Look now, it’s only been a few days, the enthusiasm has faded, it has been three days without calling.”

As she spoke, Wu Shengnan rolled her eyes and then instructed Kang Zhirong, ”Alright, enough about him, take me to the pharmacy.”

”Sister-in-law, I’d better take you home directly. The pharmacy is crowded, it’s not good for the child.” Kang Zhirong paused his steps.

Wu Shengnan mused slightly before saying, ”You’re right, but I still need to go to the pharmacy to pick up my sister-in-law so she can help me look after Xuanxuan; I have something to do.”

”Alright, no problem.”

Kang Zhirong agreed, and drove Wu Shengnan to Du Ping’s couple’s pharmacy.

Originally, to the pharmacy, Du Ping and his wife were dispensable. After all, whether it was dispensing medicine or finding medicine for customers, they were of no use, the only role they had was helping sweep the floor with the other staff.

But the two of them couldn’t stay idle, they ran to the pharmacy every day.

When they came, they didn’t work; they huddled in a corner either reading or studying, or they were reading the instructions of the medicine.

According to them, reading at the pharmacy allowed them to ask the professional staff any questions they didn’t understand, making it convenient for learning.

But in the eyes of the staff, Du Ping and his wife’s behavior was a sign of stinginess, as if they were there to supervise their work.

Wu Shengnan also realized this problem, but she couldn’t say much to her big brother and sister-in-law, so she just let them be.

This also meant that whenever something came up, she had to come to the pharmacy to find someone.

Now, at the pharmacy entrance, seeing the few people inside buying medicine, Wu Shengnan chose not to go in, deciding instead to let her sister-in-law Zhang Sumei come out, and then they’d head back together.

However, while waiting, Wu Shengnan noticed a woman standing about two meters from the pharmacy entrance, fixing her gaze on it.

This was originally nothing, but owing to Wu Shengnan’s professional instincts, she sensed something wrong in the woman’s gaze towards the pharmacy, making her heart skip a beat.

After thinking it over, Wu Shengnan placed her child in the safety seat, instructed Kang Zhirong to keep an eye on things, and then got out of the car.

The woman was young, appearing to be about the same age as Wu Shengnan, with a familiar trait about her.

Wu Shengnan walked up behind the woman, observing her closely.

Soon, Wu Shengnan realized that the feeling emanating from the woman was one that only someone who had been in prison would possess.

Moreover, she must have just gotten out, or been out not long ago.

”Hello, I see you’ve been watching the pharmacy. Are you here to buy medicine?” After observing again, Wu Shengnan took the initiative to greet the woman.

Wu Shengnan’s sudden voice clearly startled the woman in front of her.

After a moment of panic, the woman looked at Wu Shengnan with a wary expression.

But this wariness did not last more than two seconds before the woman’s gaze turned evasive and timid.

Glancing at the woman’s outfit, Wu Shengnan asked with slight confusion, ”Ma’am, are you here to buy medicine?”

”Do you lack enough money? Don’t worry, the owner of this store is my sister-in-law, I can take you in and have them get you the medicine first, your health is important.”

The woman glanced gratefully at Wu Shengnan but shook her head, ”I’m not here to buy medicine, thank you.”

Wu Shengnan grew more curious, ”Is there anything I can help you with?”

The woman hesitated, and after a moment of struggle, seemed to gather a lot of courage and said, ”I want to come in and find a job, but I’m afraid they will look down on me and not want me.”

”Looking for a job?” Wu Shengnan glanced at the pharmacy entrance, then turned back to the woman and said, ”You can just go in and ask; my brother and sister-in-law are good people.

Besides, it’s just a job, why would they look down on you?”

The woman took a deep breath and slowly said, ”I was in prison for a year before, so...”

As expected!

Wu Shengnan looked at the woman without any change in expression, but she still appreciated how honestly the woman confessed her reason.

”How long were you in prison and for what?” Wu Shengnan asked directly, getting to the heart of the matter.

The woman looked downcast as she said, ”My name is Wu Zhou. A couple of years ago, when I graduated, I was deceived into joining a medical institution.

I was just out of school and knew nothing; whatever they told me to do, I did.

It was only later that I realized they were scamming elderly people.

Ah, I realized it too late, and it was too late to back out.

But the judge took into account my good plea and only sentenced me to a year and three months.”

After saying this, the woman looked pathetically at Wu Shengnan and said, ”But this society is just like that, it doesn’t matter if it’s ten years, a year, or even a month, having been in prison means you’ve been in prison.

Moreover, people who have been in prison are naturally considered inferior, so ever since I got out, I’ve looked for many jobs, but no one is willing to hire me.”

Wu Shengnan looked up and down at the woman, Wu Zhou, once more and then asked, ”Haven’t you thought about finding work elsewhere?”

Wu Zhou forced a smile, ”My parents are old, and I’m their only daughter, so I can’t move elsewhere.”

As she spoke, she looked back towards the pharmacy entrance, ”I studied and worked with medicine, and now hospitals and clinics won’t hire me, so besides a pharmacy, I don’t know where else I can go.”
