This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Everyone present nodded, realizing this was the case.

However, among those who nodded, some knew the facts but not the rationale, like Director Huang and the Huang Jufu couple.

Some truly understood what Du Heng was saying and connected the dots, like Cao Binghe and the resident doctor following Du Heng.

Du Heng ignored everyone’s varied expressions and continued, ”Half exterior, half interior, the area of lesser yang.

The so-called lesser yang area refers to the lesser yang gallbladder meridian.

And now the wind evil is lurking in the lesser yang gallbladder meridian, causing the gallbladder meridian to be obstructed.

The child feels a sense of fullness and discomfort in the chest and hypochondrium, which indicates stagnation of gallbladder blood. Whether there’s vomiting or not, this is a situation where gallbladder evil sandwiches phlegm food and rushes upwards.”

At this point, Cao Binghe was the first to react, realizing that the cause of the child’s illness should be a gallbladder problem.

Du Heng then took a breath and continued, ”The child likes sweets, which, besides being natural, is more due to gallbladder juice leakage.”

At this point, Director Huang suddenly interrupted, ”Director Du means that the child’s deafness is due to a problem with her own gallbladder.”

Du Heng shook his head slightly, causing Director Huang’s heart to panic suddenly.

Immediately, Du Heng said, ”Yes, but also no.”

Director Huang was slightly stunned, yes, but also no, what does it mean?

Before he could ask, Du Heng directly said, ”Those studying traditional Chinese medicine know that the ear is the orifice of the gallbladder; those who are deaf have obstructed gallbladder qi.

So, accurately speaking, the child’s deafness issue is due to the discomfort of gallbladder qi and obstruction of the gallbladder meridian.”

The expression that Director Huang just relaxed was instantly tangled again, ”Director Du, you mean the child’s deafness was caused by diarrhea due to wind and cold.

But there are many children who have diarrhea, why was none of them deaf?

This… this…”

Du Heng laughed, ”Do you find it unreasonable?

The reason is actually simple; first, this child is relatively small, not possible to measure and summarize by one standard.

Second, at the onset of the illness, the mother didn’t pay much attention, only treated it as diarrhea, slightly delaying the time.

Third and most importantly, is the treatment of lesser yang malaria, which has distinctions between excess Yin and Yang. Excess Yin is mostly cold, while excess Yang is mostly heat. There can be pure heat without cold or pure cold without heat, requiring supplementation for balance.

But during this child’s malaria treatment, it was simply treated as diarrhea, without adjusting the gallbladder meridian problems in a timely manner.

Therefore, the child eventually had deafness and blindness issues.”

That’s how it is!

Finally, it was fully understood.

Of course, this understanding could only be coherent according to Du Heng’s traditional Chinese medicine theory. If it were according to Director Huang’s modern medicine, they would surely think Du Heng was talking nonsense.

What gallbladder qi, what gallbladder meridian, what between exterior and interior, all lack scientific basis.

However, because Director Huang had previous contact with Du Heng and was not dismissive of traditional Chinese medicine itself, he could accept Du Heng’s explanations.

But before he could show a sudden realization, he was shocked again and asked, ”Director Du, you just said the child’s blindness was also caused by diarrhea?”

Du Heng smiled without speaking, directly turning to look at Cao Binghe and the resident doctor.

Seeing Du Heng’s gaze, the resident doctor hesitated slightly, then gently lowered his head, while Cao Binghe appeared thoughtful.

Du Heng did not pressure the resident doctor, but focused entirely on Cao Binghe, curious to see if he understood.

Fortunately, Cao Binghe had a solid foundation and, after pondering for two seconds, directly said, ”We often say, ’the liver and gallbladder rely on each other,’ which is not just a simple idiom, but indicates that the liver and gallbladder are interdependent.

Now, since the patient’s gallbladder qi is uncomfortable and the gallbladder meridian obstructed, it will inevitably affect the liver qi and liver meridian.

As the eye is the orifice of the liver, issues with liver qi and liver meridian explain the blindness issue.”

Although not detailed, he clearly identified the key issue; Du Heng smiled and looked down, picking up the fine needles he just placed.

There weren’t many acupoints selected this time, just the ear center, in front of the ear, and the outer corner of the eye.

At these three places, Du Heng used the needles very cautiously.

First, because the area is sensitive, there’s a risk of injuring nerves by mistake.

Second, the patient being a young child introduces many uncertainties; one careless move and the child might squirm or struggle, possibly causing needle misplacement or detachment.

Fortunately, the child was well-behaved, and Du Heng inserted the needles with precision, without causing any pain or adverse reactions, and hence, the child didn’t struggle or twist.

Six fine needle insertions involved Lifting, Inserting, Twisting and Turning, finally on both sides of the ear center, Du Heng pinched two fingers together, causing a slight tremor in the fine needles.

Subsequently, Du Heng stood up slowly and smiled at Huang Jufu’s wife, ”Now try calling the child and see if she responds to you.”

Huang Jufu’s wife was initially stunned, then looked at Huang Jufu, eyes full of hesitation and panic.

For three months, the child hadn’t given her any response.

The only time the child expressed emotions to her was when hungry, thirsty, needing to urinate, or in pain.

And the only difference in these responses was the differing cries.
