This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

But unfortunately, Wu Buwei’s call came through again.

Recently, the contact between Wu Buwei and Du Heng had suddenly become more frequent.

It’s not that there was any problem with the project Wu Buwei was managing, but the people involved in the project were the issue.

Who?

Sun Jiaxiang’s grandson, that acupuncture teacher from the Capital College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

This grandson is really a piece of work.

Ever since Du Heng settled things with Wang Pan, this Mr. Sun was sent to Jinzhou not long after.

At first, everything was fine, and this grandson obediently listened to Wu Buwei, but over time, his arrogance typical of Capital people couldn’t be suppressed.

Plus, this grandson has a good grandfather, and his own workplace is impressive, while Wu Buwei and his crew are too young, so this grandson’s know-it-all attitude started to shoot up.

One day he’s guiding Doctor Li on acupuncture, the next he’s picking apart Dr. Zhang’s treatment plan, always trying to stand out in everything.

The issue is that if he had a point, at least considering his age and the face of Du Heng, everyone would at least give him some respect.

But no, his skills are truly lacking.

After a few cocky attempts, well, everyone’s perception of him changed; they all thought he was just a ****, and a clueless one at that.

However, out of respect for Du Heng and this guy’s background, nobody exposed him, and they continued to flatter him jokingly.

It was originally a matter of giving face, where everyone could have a good time, and just let it slide for appearances’ sake.

But this grandson got a little carried away, and in the flattery of Wu Buwei’s group of young people, he gradually started to swell with pride.

He, a teacher who has always been a bookworm in school, suddenly had the idea of wanting to personally handle patient procedures.

And over time, this idea became stronger and stronger, no longer just an impulse, but an unstoppable urge.

Because of this, Wu Buwei now had to call Du Heng every day, as he was unable to contain this grandson any longer.

”Buwei, what’s up today, is it urgent?” As soon as the call connected, Du Heng preemptively asked, anticipating another trivial issue with that grandson, he was ready to hang up.

Honestly, he doesn’t have any good solutions regarding this grandson.

Is he supposed to report to Sir Sun, Sun Jiaxiang?

That would be a real hoot.

Because that wouldn’t be solving the problem; that would be slapping Sir Sun in the face, and quite literally with a loud smack of humiliation.

A grandparent in their nineties cleaning up after a forty-something grandson, how could that not be shameful?

Especially for someone like Sir Sun, it would be even more disgraceful.

Now Du Heng had one thought, wait until the September issue is published, and quickly publish this grandson’s article, and stop pretending to do any research. Just list his name and let him leave.

As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, it seemed like Wu Buwei didn’t understand, as he said on his own, ”Brother, can you deal with this Mr. Sun, I’m really losing it.”

Listening to Wu Buwei’s complaining tone, Du Heng could only begin to soothe him as usual, ”Just endure a bit longer, just one more month, once the next issue is published, he can return.”

But this time, Wu Buwei wouldn’t listen to Du Heng any longer, ”Brother, I’m serious, either deal with him, stop him from fooling around, or just send him away.”

Du Heng was taken aback for a moment, Wu Buwei’s tone was quite firm this time.

”What happened?”

”He went hands-on.”

”Did something go wrong?”

”He made a patient, who had just regained feeling in the leg, spasm with the acupuncture.”

”Uh~~~” Du Heng was silent, not knowing what to say.

But if you look at it from another perspective, to make someone who just regained feeling spasm with acupuncture is a skill in itself.

Damn!

Du Heng felt disgusted with himself for finding such an excuse.

After taking a deep breath, Du Heng cautiously asked, ”And then what?”

”Then he ran away, and I went in and re-administered the acupuncture for the patient.” Du Heng felt that Wu Buwei was about to cry.

Du Heng took another deep breath and firmly pinched his thigh, ”Alright, I got it, I’ll contact Mr. Sun right now.”

After hanging up the phone, Du Heng felt his mind go blank.

Can a forty-something person really do such a thing?

After calming himself, Du Heng dialed the phone number of this Mr. Sun.

In this conversation, Du Heng ended up feeling dizzy from all the talking, and by the end, he didn’t even remember what he’d said, and noticed it was already midnight.

At this point, Du Heng had no mood for anything else.

As for calling Kang Zhirong, it would have to wait for the next day. He still had to attend outpatient services and see Huang Jufu’s child the next day.

The next day after Du Heng finished his work, he saw someone very familiar, who also surprised him, standing beside Huang Jufu.

”Director Huang, why didn’t you say you were coming? It’s truly my oversight.” The person in front of him was none other than the Department Director of Sun’s Acupuncture Department, the Director of the Otolaryngology Department at Capital Hospital.

Director Huang was an ordinary looking middle-aged man, around five foot seven, slightly chubby, with thinning hair, looking rather mild-mannered.

At this point, he also saw Du Heng, stood up with a smile, and shook hands with Du Heng, ”I came today to apologize to Director Du.”

Apologize?

Du Heng was initially surprised but immediately understood what Director Huang was referring to.

However, this also surprised Du Heng, he didn’t expect that the Sun doctor would actually have such courage to inform Director Huang about this matter.

On second thought, this outcome was somewhat expected.

After all, acknowledging and correcting one’s mistakes is different from being reported or exposed.

Moreover, Director Huang coming today clearly had the intention of keeping Du Heng from talking about it.

What Doctor Sun did, if spoken of lightly, was a matter of personal ethics and medical conduct, but on a bigger scale, it’s a management issue at Capital Hospital.

This kind of problem isn’t a minor issue by any means.

If it were to spread publicly, given the current medical environment, this Department Director, as well as the hospital’s management, would certainly be in hot water.

So at this moment, Du Heng’s mind was clear as day, he’s smiling and saying, ”Oh, Director Huang, there’s no need to apologize, please don’t hold anything against me.”

He warmly invited Director Huang to sit down again.

The two didn’t mention anything specific but knew what the other was referring to, and after a couple of scripted mutual compliments, the matter was put to bed.

”I heard from Xiao Sun that Director Du is treating Master Huang’s daughter today, so I wanted to come check it out.”

Director Huang, now seated, spoke with a bit of seriousness, ”Presumably, you also know, Dr. Du, that the issue with Master Huang’s daughter has stumped us indeed.

Our lack of skill is to blame as we’ve yet to identify the child’s problem.

Now that Director Du says there’s a solution, I am here with a learning attitude, hoping you won’t send me away.”

Seeing Director Huang’s sincere words, Du Heng also adopted a humble demeanor, ”What are you saying, Director Huang? How many patients have you rescued from suffering?

We can’t dismiss all your past achievements over one exceptional case.”

This flattery greatly pleased Director Huang, but he remained humble, saying, ”Ah, a lack of ability is a lack of ability, I’ve never denied that.

But, if I can’t, I go learn.

The ancients did say, live and learn.

Today, I’m here with a learning mindset, so you better not keep secrets, Director Du.”

Du Heng exchanged a couple more humble pleasantries, then pointed to the family of Huang Jufu, ”Shall we go to the treatment room now and discuss the child’s situation together?”

Director Huang laughed, ”Director Du, don’t put me on a pedestal, I’m truly here to learn today.”

He then stood up willingly, letting Du Heng take the lead, ”Director Du, let’s begin.”
