This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Kang Zhirong looked at the man on the ground, a disdainful smile hanging on his lips. He thought the man was trying to scam him.

Without hesitation, Kang Zhirong picked up the phone and called the police.

Even though Xie Kaiyao seemed to be setting him up with this man, Kang Zhirong couldn’t risk guessing incorrectly, especially given the man’s annoying behavior.

Most importantly, this man was truly irritating.

Kang Zhirong thought that once he called the police, the man would stop pretending. But after hanging up, the man continued to hold his chest while moaning and wailing in pain.

He was putting on quite a show.

Kang Zhirong scoffed, ”Hey, buddy, you’re overacting a bit.

I’ll have you know, I used to work in a hospital. I don’t believe that just from me pushing you like this, you’d be injured and unable to stand.”

Saying this, Kang Zhirong sneered again, ”I really did call the police just now, and they will be here soon.”

Kang Zhirong said all this, but the man didn’t budge, continuing to clutch his chest and wail on the ground. And it didn’t look like he was faking it.

Xie Kaiyao was a bit frightened and timidly approached Kang Zhirong. She tried to grab his arm but was quickly avoided by him.

Seeing Kang Zhirong’s refusal, disappointment flashed across Xie Kaiyao’s face, but then she looked worried again. She glanced at the man on the ground and said, ”Rong, what if... what if he’s really hurt?”

”Hurt? He’s a human being, made of flesh, not paper. I just gave him a light push, and he bumped into the table. That’s all it took for him to get hurt?”

Kang Zhirong firmly expressed his disbelief. ”If he’s injured, show me the wound. Is it broken or bruised?

If there’s an injury, I’ll take him to the hospital right away.”

However, Xie Kaiyao added anxiously, ”Rong, I saw it—the corner of the table hit his chest.”

Upon hearing this, Kang Zhirong sneered again, ”Even if he landed on the entire table, he wouldn’t wail like that.”

As he talked, Kang Zhirong glanced at Xie Kaiyao.

He was now unsure of her intentions.

But quickly, he stopped caring. Whether or not she was deceiving him, it wouldn’t matter once the police arrived, explained everything, and he left. Her deception didn’t matter anymore.

Kang Zhirong looked back at the man on the ground, about to mock him some more, but the man’s face had turned pale as a ghost.

Could it be? It can’t be, right? I only pushed him lightly.

Besides being pale, the man’s breathing also became abnormal.

The words he was about to say got stuck in his throat, and Kang Zhirong swallowed hard.

Something seemed off!

Now, Kang Zhirong couldn’t make any more sarcastic remarks. He quickly rushed to the man’s side and used his limited medical knowledge to check him.

And this check-up, even without a medical background, Kang Zhirong could tell the man wasn’t faking it.

Outside the Emergency Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of JZU, Kang Zhirong’s face turned pale as well.

He didn’t know how long he had been waiting. Finally, when the doctor appeared, Kang Zhirong hurried over, ”Doctor, is he alright?”

”Are you a family member of the patient?”

”No, I pushed him, and he felt unwell, so I rushed him to the hospital immediately.” Kang Zhirong asked anxiously, ”Doctor, is he okay?”

The doctor looked at Kang Zhirong strangely, asking incredulously, ”You only pushed him? You didn’t do anything else?”

Upon hearing this, Kang Zhirong became even more panicked. He quickly replied, ”I really just pushed him, and then he bumped into the table. That’s it. I didn’t do anything else.”

The doctor looked at Kang Zhirong as if he had won the lottery, ”The patient has a pleural perforation and needs to be hospitalized. Go and handle the paperwork.”

Kang Zhirong’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Having worked in a hospital before, he knew very well what a pleural perforation meant. Simply put, it was a pneumothorax—a tear in the lung lining, causing air to leak out.

Just from a push and a bump, his lung started leaking air? Even if it were a person made out of paper, they couldn’t be that fragile, right?

”Doctor, there must be a mistake, right?” Kang Zhirong asked helplessly, ”I only pushed him...”

The doctor sighed, ”If you don’t believe me, you can transfer him to another hospital and see what they say.

Also, stop talking about your gentle push. I’ve even treated patients who had cerebral hemorrhages from kissing.”

Kang Zhirong was dumbfounded. After a while, he asked, ”Doctor, is it really a pleural perforation?”

”What reason would I have to lie to you?” The doctor shook his head and turned to leave. ”Alright, if there are no problems, hurry up and pay the fees.”

What kind of situation was this? Was this like choking while drinking water? Or breaking one’s ankle while farting? This is just too unlucky, isn’t it?

Xie Kaiyao was also flabbergasted, standing dumbfounded to one side.

After a long while, she finally came to her senses and said, ”Rong, don’t worry about it. This happened because you stood up for me. I’ll take responsibility for all the issues.”

Once Xie Kaiyao finished speaking, she immediately turned around and ran to the payment counter. In no time, she returned with the completed paperwork.

Looking at the still dazed Kang Zhirong, Xie Kaiyao was about to say something when two policemen approached them.

Wu Shengnan was utterly bewildered when she received the call. She couldn’t believe that Kang Zhirong had been arrested. What’s going on?

But since it had already happened, she didn’t have time to think further. She left her child with Zhang Sumei and drove straight to the police station.

As night fell and neon lights flashed outside, Wu Shengnan walked out of the police station with Kang Zhirong.

Seeing Kang Zhirong’s depressed look, Wu Shengnan helplessly shook her head, ”It’s fine now. Just make sure to pay the injured party’s hospital fees during this period.

Once they’re discharged, let the police station mediate, and give them some compensation.”

Kang Zhirong lowered his head and softly hummed in agreement.

Wu Shengnan wanted to say something, but seeing Kang Zhirong’s current state, she couldn’t bring herself to say anything.

However, her resentment was still burning fiercely.

After parting ways, Wu Shengnan immediately called Du Heng. Seeing Du Heng’s lazy demeanor in the video, she couldn’t help but get angry, ”Du, did you call Xiao Kang like I asked you to?”

Du Heng looked at Wu Shengnan’s displeased expression and scratched his hair in a conflicted manner, ”Darling, don’t be mad. I was just thinking of what to say.

Don’t worry; I’ll call him right now and give him a good talking to.

How can a man be so fickle?

This is utterly unacceptable.”

Wu Shengnan almost laughed in anger. She glared at Du Heng resentfully and said, ”It’s too late.”

Du Heng was puzzled, ”What do you mean? It’s too late? It’s only a little after eight o’clock. It’s not late.”

But he had just finished speaking when he saw Wu Shengnan’s furious gaze. Du Heng quickly said, ”Alright, alright. I’ll call him tomorrow. Tomorrow morning, I’ll give him a call.”

Wu Shengnan rolled her eyes. She was completely fed up with Du Heng. ”I wasn’t talking about the time. I meant that it’s too late to do anything about the situation.”

At this, Du Heng became utterly bewildered, ”What do you mean? Did the kid get together with that woman? Did he break up with his girlfriend?”

”What are you talking about? Xiao Kang beat up that girl’s boyfriend for her.”

Now Du Heng was truly stunned, ”Boyfriend? No way. Xiao Kang isn’t that kind of person.”

Wu Shengnan helplessly recounted the entire incident to Du Heng, ”He didn’t dare to call his girlfriend, so he called me instead. I just bailed him out.”

After listening carefully, Du Heng nodded and said, ”It’s indeed not a good thing to tell his girlfriend about. But is there really nothing between him and that girl?”

”According to Xiao Kang, there’s nothing. He never had any intentions towards her.”

”Well, that’s good. In that case, just be more attentive and don’t let Xiao Kang suffer any losses.”

As soon as Wu Shengnan heard Du Heng say this, the anger that she had just suppressed flared up again, ”You say it’s good? What’s good about your buddy and subordinate injuring someone? And you still say it’s good?”

Du Heng firmly nodded his head, ”You’re mistaken. This is a mistake, not Xiao Kang intentionally hurting someone.

However, even if he had deliberately hit someone, I would still say it was well done.”

Seeing Wu Shengnan’s incredulous gaze, Du Heng continued, ”That kind of man, with every breath he takes, only brings shame to us men.

Forget Xiao Kang; even if I were there, I might have beaten him up too.”

Du Heng stated his views with righteous conviction and, after a brief pause, added, ”Also, that girl is now Xiao Kang’s assistant, and Xiao Kang is her superior. In helping his subordinate and protecting her from being frightened, I think Xiao Kang did nothing wrong.

So, in my opinion, whether as a man or as a leader, Xiao Kang is not at fault.”

Wu Shengnan was rendered speechless by Du Heng’s machismo, ”I’ve had enough of you two. You guys think you’re in the right to hurt others, huh?”

”Not at all, my dear. Let’s get things straight. This time it was an accident, not intentional harm,” Du Heng calmly said. ”Alright, since it’s happened, you should pay more attention and help Xiao Kang deal with it.

If you’re not able to handle it, go find Lawyer Zhou. He’s a big shot lawyer. Dealing with this kind of matter should be a piece of cake for him.”

”I can’t talk to you anymore. Hanging up.” Wu Shengnan, rolling her eyes, hung up Du Heng’s call.

After hanging up, Wu Shengnan sighed in resignation. Was Xiao Kang right? Some aspects were right, some were not, but overall, there was no issue; it’s just that a small accident occurred during the process. Was Du Heng right? If there were no hidden motives, Wu Shengnan also thought Du Heng’s words made sense. However, based on her intuition, she felt that some things about this matter remained unclear. But right now, it didn’t matter anymore since the person was injured due to Kang Zhirong’s shove. There was no arguing about that. Sigh, Kang Zhirong was really cursed with bad luck.
