This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

As for his wife, she kept shaking the child, not knowing if the child was getting dizzy.

After two turns, Huang Jufu seemed to think of something and quickly said, ”Du, I’d better go to the outpatient service to find you, I’ll register.”

Du Heng shook his head directly, ”Nevermind, you don’t need to bother with that. All my slots for tomorrow are already booked. Even if you want to book now, you can’t.

Just wait for me at the Department, and after I’m done with the outpatient services, I’ll treat the child.”

Huang Jufu felt very ashamed, but after a moment, he took a deep breath and steadied himself, ”Du, how much should I prepare?”

This twist caught Du Heng off guard; he almost didn’t keep up with Huang Jufu’s pace, ”No need to prepare money.

The issue with the child seems difficult, but once the root cause is found, it’s very easy to resolve.”

As he spoke, Du Heng turned his head to look at Huang Jufu’s residence and said with a frown, ”Your environment here is too harsh. It’s okay for the two of you to live here, but it’s a bit unsuitable to have your daughter living here as well.”

Huang Jufu lowered his head, feeling helpless and self-reproachful for not providing his wife and child with better living conditions.

Du Heng sighed and continued, ”What I mean is, after the child’s check-up tomorrow, you should let your wife and child go home.

I’ll give the child a prescription then, and your wife can just pick up the medicine from the local pharmacy at your doorstep.

It’s not only cheaper, but they also won’t have to suffer.”

Hearing about going back home, Huang Jufu’s worries resurged; he feared that if Du Heng couldn’t treat the child, the back-and-forth travel costs would still be significant.

But seeing how sincere Du Heng seemed, he just thought for a moment and then nodded directly, ”Okay, Du, I’ll pack up things in a bit. After the child’s treatment tomorrow, I’ll let them go back.”

After playing with the child one last time, Du Heng got ready to leave, ”That’s settled then. Tomorrow, you wait for me at the hospital. I’ll head back now.”

Both Huang Jufu and his wife stood up, preparing to see Du Heng out.

At this point, Doctor Sun, who had been ignored, suddenly spoke up, ”Are you Du Heng?”

Du Heng paused slightly, looking at Doctor Sun in surprise, ”Do you know me?”

Doctor Sun shook his head directly, ”I don’t know you personally, but I’ve heard your name mentioned by our Director. He often talks about your accomplishments in the Five Senses Department, but it seems you look down on it and only focus on the Internal Medicine Department.”

Du Heng smirked awkwardly, ”Where did that conclusion come from? When did I ever look down on the Five Senses Department?”

But it didn’t matter much to him, so he’d just laugh it off and turned to leave.

”Wait.” Doctor Sun called out to him again.

”Is there anything else?”

Doctor Sun’s throat moved slightly, and looking slightly distressed, he said, ”Doctor Du, what I did today was wrong. Please don’t mention it to our Director.

Truly, today’s Master Huang was the first patient I dealt with in this manner.

The previous patients all seemed quite tricky, and I never dared to do this kind of thing.”

Du Heng replied somewhat helplessly, ”What do you mean? You think Xiao Huang is a migrant worker from a small place, easy to bully?”

Doctor Sun didn’t dare to respond directly to Du Heng’s words. Instead, he started fumbling through his pockets, quickly taking out several hundred yuan and pressing it into Huang Jufu’s hand.

Seeing Huang Jufu refuse, Doctor Sun forced it into his hand and hastily retreated two steps, ”Doctor Du, I really know I was wrong, and I won’t dare to do it again. Please don’t tell our Director, alright?

If it’s exposed, I’ll surely lose my job, and... and...”

He didn’t finish, but Du Heng knew what he meant to say.

Because if the Capital Hospital decided to escalate the matter, his professional practice license could be revoked.

If his practice license was revoked, he would be finished.

Seeing Du Heng remain silent, Doctor Sun hurriedly added, ”I didn’t bring much cash today, but I have money on my mobile phone. I can compensate Master Huang.”

What should he do?

Du Heng hesitated.

Expelling such a disgrace from the doctor’s profession is indeed satisfying, but...

After casting a glance at the bewildered Huang Jufu holding the money and then at his wife cradling the child, Du Heng made up his mind, ”How much compensation can you offer?”

”... 3,000.” Doctor Sun cautiously looked at Du Heng, and upon seeing Du Heng frown at that number, he quickly said, ”5,000, I’ll offer 5,000 in compensation.”

Then hurriedly explained, ”Doctor Du, you know, living expenses in the Capital are very high, and I’ve only been an attending physician for a few years, so I haven’t been able to save much.”

Du Heng squinted his eyes slightly and then straightforwardly said, ”Forget 5,000. I won’t ask for much. You give 10,000 yuan, and I won’t have Xiao Huang file a complaint at the hospital against you. How about that?”

Doctor Sun swallowed hard again, wanting to ask Du Heng for assurance that he would not tell their Director.

But seeing the calm look in Du Heng’s eyes, he didn’t dare to speak out.

After licking his lips, Doctor Sun swiftly pulled out his phone and said to Huang Jufu, ”Master Huang, what I did was wrong. I apologize.

Take out your phone, and I’ll transfer the money to you.”

This move both startled and frightened Huang Jufu.

He never expected that Du Heng would, with just a few words, not only clear the skies above him but also land him 10,000 yuan in the process.

This... this...

”No need, really, we didn’t end up doing anything.” Huang Jufu quickly waved his hands, refusing as he looked at Doctor Sun, waiting with his phone.

But this action made Doctor Sun’s face turn pale with fright, ”Master Huang, I’m genuinely apologizing. You have to give me this chance.”

Seeing that Huang Jufu was still about to refuse, Du Heng suddenly interrupted, ”Xiao Huang, don’t decline. This is Doctor Sun’s token of sincerity, and accepting it will ease his mind.

If you don’t accept it today, he probably won’t be able to sleep when he goes back.”

What does that mean?

Huang Jufu was puzzled, but seeing Du Heng’s determined gaze and Doctor Sun’s panicked expression, he hesitantly took out his phone.

Only when he opened Xin Wallet did Doctor Sun, somewhat awkwardly say, ”Master Huang, do you have ConviPayment? I’ll transfer it to you using ConviPayment.”

Once again puzzled, Huang Jufu looked at Doctor Sun. Is there any difference?

Aren’t they both capable of receiving and sending money?

Though he wondered, Huang Jufu still found ConviPayment.

After the receipt sound chimed, Huang Jufu looked at the increased balance in his account, feeling it all so surreal. He couldn’t help but exchange glances with his wife to confirm he wasn’t dreaming.

Meanwhile, Du Heng commented with mild exasperation, ”Seriously? Just for 10,000 yuan, you had to use ConviPayment? Are you really that broke?”

Seeing Huang Jufu accept the money, Doctor Sun also breathed a long sigh of relief.

But with Du Heng’s question, while awkwardly laughing, Doctor Sun couldn’t help blushing, ”Doctor Du, you also know that in the Capital, even a halfway decent place to live costs thousands a month just in rent, let alone buying.

And now that I have a girlfriend, I can’t exactly rent a basement or share a place with others, so these costs are quite high.

Besides, surprising her with little gestures of love now and then, with just an attending physician’s salary, the money simply doesn’t last.”

Du Heng nodded, ”Oh, so you resorted to these dishonest tactics?”

”I really had no other option, I was desperate.” Doctor Sun, having given the money away, was no longer as anxious. With a wry smile, he said, ”This was the first time I did something like this, and I was already uneasy. I didn’t expect to be caught by you, Doctor Du.

In a way, it’s good. It’s better to be caught before making a huge mistake.”
