This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Regarding Zhang Shiping’s question, Du Heng’s mood was quite relaxed.

He picked up the teacup, gently sipped the tea, and then said slowly, ”People who pursue different paths cannot work together.”

Upon hearing this response, Zhang Shiping also chuckled softly.

Within the group of doctors, there are also factions. When it comes to the category of traditional Chinese medicine, the division and conflict among factions are even more evident.

As a not-so-small leader in the Capital, he couldn’t be more aware of this.

The competition and struggle among factions, to be honest, are cutthroat and irreconcilable wherever you go.

From the recent period when Du Heng treated his grandfather, Zhang Shiping had basically figured out Du Heng’s stance.

The position he represented and the standpoint of Fatty Luo were completely irreconcilable.

Fatty Luo and his group, while also part of the small traditional Chinese medicine circle, see traditional Chinese medicine as a tool, a stepping stone.

They are concerned with what the future holds for traditional Chinese medicine, where its development prospects lie. They care about what traditional Chinese medicine can bring them and what they can gain from it.

It can be said that this group of people is essentially a bunch of refined egoists.

Meanwhile, Du Heng and his group belong to the stubborn idealists.

They view traditional Chinese medicine as an ideal, taking it upon themselves to inherit and carry forward the legacy, and their ultimate goal is to promote and flourish the cause of traditional Chinese medicine.

It is precisely this mindset that, when encountering patients, leads them to first consider solving the problem using traditional Chinese medicine; if one method fails, they try another, insisting on finding a traditional Chinese medicinal basis for the ailment.

Only when all options are exhausted will they look for all sorts of excuses to turn to modern medicine for treatment.

This kind of stubborn behavior is completely analogous to those modern medicine practitioners who exalt Western medicine over all else.

So, who is better or worse?

In the eyes of Zhang Shiping, an outsider, they are pretty much the same, both having their good and bad.

If Fatty Luo and his group were to completely control the narrative of traditional Chinese medicine, its development would stagnate and ultimately become a tool for some individuals to gain profit.

In a few years, at most ten, the category of traditional Chinese medicine would enter the grave of ’residual dregs of the old society’.

And if the rigid and idealistic representatives of traditional Chinese medicine gain control of the discourse, will the situation improve?

No, that would only lead traditional Chinese medicine into a state of venerating sages, ensnaring their thoughts within existing classics, and allowing previously discarded practices deemed as dregs to resurface.

If that happens, traditional Chinese medicine is bound to plunge into the abyss of obliteration under the onslaught of modern medicine.

Not only does Zhang Shiping see this clearly, but so do the managers in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

They will not allow either representative side to completely control the narrative of traditional Chinese medicine. They must compete, supervise, and improve each other.

For, in any case, they are representatives of traditional Chinese medicine, and their advancement equals the advancement of traditional Chinese medicine.

If not, neither side will be able to support itself against the pressure of modern medicine.

So, among them, either the west wind will overpower the east wind, or the east wind will overpower the west wind.

It is impossible to completely merge into a single path.

As for Du Heng and the others involved, even if they understand, they have no choice but to compete clearly and distinctly.

Just like Du Heng now, even if he made overtures to Fatty Luo, would Fatty Luo consider him one of their own? Would he leverage their resources to support Du Heng?

No!

Not only that, but they would also mock Du Heng and see him as a joke.

Meanwhile, Du Heng’s current supporters would consider his vacillation a sign of an unstable stance and choose to abandon him.

Thus, in this matter, Du Heng has no room for choice.

A single phrase, ’people who pursue different paths cannot work together,’ suffices.

At this point, neither of them spoke further. After a slight smile, one picked up the wine cup and the other the teacup, thus ending the conversation.

Zhang Shiping did not wish to delve deeper, and Du Heng did not want to discuss it.

What Zhang Shiping could know, as an insider with an experienced father-in-law who was a master at his back, how could he not know?

He was all too clear on this!

Although he did not consider himself a stubborn or idealistic inheritor of traditional Chinese medicine, nor was he a ’disciple’ of traditional Chinese medicine supremacy, at the very least, he shared the same thoughts as Sun Jiaxiang’s group, all striving for the promotion and expansion of traditional Chinese medicine.

Compared to Fatty Luo’s group, whose approach was purely guided by profit motives, they were completely on different tracks.

Therefore, he could only choose Sun Jiaxiang’s side.

Interestingly enough, there is one amusing thing about Sun Jiaxiang, who is now the banner-bearer of traditional medicine.

But he himself actually leans towards the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine.

He is diligently seeking a blend of modern medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, complementing each other.

This can be seen from his use of technological means to develop and apply several kinds of Chinese herbal medicine.

But does that matter?
