This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Her mother glared at her husband. ”I’ve realized you’re just a troublemaker, always finding fault with everything.”

Upon hearing his wife scolding him, the father-in-law became even more unhappy. ”Did I say something wrong? He said he was treating us to dinner, but look, the guests haven’t even left yet, and he, the host, left first.”

His wife glared at him again. ”Listen to what you’re saying. Are you even human? You’re so damn picky.

”Back when Xiao Kang worked in the hospital, you complained that he didn’t make enough money and had too much free time.

”Now that he’s finally making money and busy with work, you’re still nagging. Will you ever let it go?”

Her mother became angrier as she spoke, reaching out to pull her husband to face her. ”You know perfectly well what kind of job Xiao Kang has now. Besides, Doctor Du is such an important figure these days; there’s a long line of people wanting to work for him.

”Xiao Kang has only been with Doctor Du for about half a year, right? But his salary and bonuses already add up to around 100,000 yuan.

”Moreover, they even let Xiao Kang drive their expensive car.

”If you jeopardize Xiao Kang’s job, you’d better find him another one that pays this well.”

The father-in-law looked a bit cowed but retorted stubbornly, ”I just think the kid’s gotten a big head after earning a little money. Besides, men turn bad when they get rich. I’m just trying to teach him a lesson for my daughter’s sake.”

”Hmph, you shameless lout! So you get to have it both ways?” The mother showed no mercy to her husband, continuing angrily, ”I’m warning you, you’d better keep your nose out of this.”

After saying this, she stood up, grabbed her purse, and said to her daughter, ”Let’s go home, dear. Let this old fool reflect on his actions.”

Kang Zhirong was unaware that his girlfriend’s family was arguing because of him. At that moment, he just wanted to quickly deal with the unpleasant situation at hand.

What on earth happened?

Arriving at Xie Kaiyao’s home, Kang Zhirong didn’t see any naked man.

”Rong.”

Just as Kang Zhirong was trying to process the situation, Xie Kaiyao’s voice, a mixture of distress and relief, rang out, and a warm, soft body suddenly lunged into his embrace.

Kang Zhirong’s face darkened.

Looking at the woman in his arms, clad only in a thin silk slip nightgown, a surge of anger at being deceived rose in Kang Zhirong’s heart.

But before he could push her away, an angry voice erupted from behind him, ”You shameless bitch! I knew you were screwing around with other men!”

Kang Zhirong turned to see a shirtless man, a floral T-shirt in his hand, standing furiously in the doorway.

”What are you looking at? Didn’t you know she has a boyfriend?” The shirtless man was lean, his ribs clearly visible, and he was now glaring at Kang Zhirong.

Boyfriend?

A vicious anger flared within Kang Zhirong, fueled by Xie Kaiyao’s deception and the man’s baseless insults.

Kang Zhirong suppressed his anger, then pushed Xie Kaiyao away and asked her coldly, ”Is this your boyfriend?”

Xie Kaiyao shook her head frantically, desperate to explain. ”No, he’s not my boyfriend. We’ve already broken up.

”Rong, please help me. He’s like a ghost, constantly haunting me.

”I’ve already moved twice, but he tracks me down like a dog every time. I was at my wit’s end, so I called you.”

Seeing Kang Zhirong’s icy gaze, Xie Kaiyao knew he didn’t believe her and quickly added, ”Rong, I’m telling the truth. I’ve reported him to the police several times. Really, you can check the records at the police station.”

Kang Zhirong’s eyelids twitched. ”And the police don’t do anything?”

”The police say it’s an emotional dispute. Since he hasn’t done anything illegal, they can’t do much. They just bring him in for questioning, give him a warning, and then let him go.”

Looking into Xie Kaiyao’s frightened eyes, Kang Zhirong chose to believe her this time.

He then turned to the man behind him. ”Man, you two have already broken up. There’s no point in dragging this out, is there?”

The man lifted his chin, casually slung the T-shirt over his shoulder, and said in the most contemptible tone, ”Pestering? What bullshit! Did I agree when she said she wanted to break up? Since I never agreed, how can you call it a breakup?”

As he spoke, the man gave Kang Zhirong a leering, up-and-down look. ”And who the fuck are you? What business is this of yours?”

The man then gave a sideways smirk. ”So, you’ve slept with her? Enjoyed that ultimate pleasure, did you? Let me tell you...”

Before he could finish, Xie Kaiyao cried out, her voice choked with tears, ”Shut up! You’re an animal!”

Upon hearing Xie Kaiyao’s words, the man’s expression changed instantly and he yelled at her, ”You bitch! Who the hell do you think you are, speaking up? Stop with that hypocritical innocent act!”

Kang Zhirong took a deep breath. ”Look, man, there’s nothing sordid going on between Kaiyao and me. I’m her boss; she works for my company. When she runs into trouble, I just help her out. That’s all.”

The man glanced at Kang Zhirong disdainfully, his expression mocking his words.

Kang Zhirong ignored the man’s sneer and continued, ”Just tell me, what do you really want?”

”Money. You gonna give it?” The man leaned nonchalantly against the doorframe.

Kang Zhirong suddenly laughed. ”So, it all boils down to money, huh?” As he said this, he looked the man up and down with the same appraising stare.

The man, completely unfazed—like a dead pig not fearing boiling water—calmly said, ”What? This slut slept with me. Is there a problem with me asking for a little compensation?”

Trash, scum, degenerate, filth... Kang Zhirong felt that even a string of such negative words couldn’t fully describe the man before him.

Xie Kaiyao broke down again, crying, ”You animal! When we were dating, I was the one paying for everything! How dare you demand money from me now?”

Hearing Xie Kaiyao’s words, Kang Zhirong simply shook his head.

Is there any point in saying this to such a lowlife?

”How much? Name your price.”

”Not much. Just 200,000 yuan.” The man eyed Kang Zhirong mockingly. ”So you want to be the hero? Fine. Fork over the cash. Give me the money, and I’ll disappear for good.”

Kang Zhirong was taken aback.

200,000 yuan?

Damn it, I just happen to have 200,000 yuan.

Stung by the man’s mocking gaze and provoked by his utter shamelessness, Kang Zhirong started to lose his cool.

He had never encountered such a shameless man.

For a man to be this shameless, he’s truly hit rock bottom.

Just as Kang Zhirong hesitated, Xie Kaiyao suddenly grabbed his arm from behind, her voice tearful and pleading, ”Rong, please, help me! I’ll repay you even if I have to slave away like an animal for the rest of my life.”

As Xie Kaiyao’s voice faded, Kang Zhirong’s mind suddenly cleared.

He gently removed Xie Kaiyao’s hand and said to the man, ”Then why don’t you go rob a bank? Or figure something else out. Maybe Kaiyao will just give it to you.”

With that, he prepared to leave. ”By the way, I’m calling the police right now, and I’ll tell them every single word you just said.”

Seeing Kang Zhirong about to leave, the man immediately grew anxious. He blocked Kang Zhirong’s path and reached for his collar. ”What’s this? You think you can just sleep with my girlfriend and walk away? You’re not leaving today unless you pay up! Or I’ll kill you!”

”Get lost!” Kang Zhirong, his patience worn thin now that he saw the situation clearly, snapped.

The sight of the man blustering in front of him filled Kang Zhirong with irritation.

Seeing the man’s hand about to grab his collar, Kang Zhirong moved first, seizing the man’s wrist and shoving him aside.

The man was too thin. Pushed by Kang Zhirong, he stumbled back several steps and fell onto the dining table by the door with a loud CLANG.

Kang Zhirong paid him no mind. He just wanted to get to the door, call the police, and then get out of there.

However, the man, after crashing into the dining table, clutched his chest, collapsed to the floor, and started moaning incessantly.
