This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Modern medicine’s treatment methods for this disease are relatively straightforward.

It’s all about relying on dialysis to filter out the waste and toxins that the kidneys can’t metabolize, thereby prolonging the patient’s life.

The other option is a kidney transplant.

However, in traditional Chinese medicine, once a diagnosis of uremia is confirmed, the first thing that can be determined is that turbid evil is spreading through the triple burner, and toxic gas permeates throughout the body.

But for treatment, it’s necessary to confirm whether it’s a case of kidney yang exhaustion or kidney yin deficiency.

And one must also assess the patient’s condition severity to determine the medication dosage.

Because at this point, the patient’s kidneys are like two plastic bags; the limits they can withstand are different.

Actually, the biggest issue is that when the symptoms of uremia begin to appear, it’s already quite difficult to distinguish whether it’s a problem of kidney yin, kidney yang, or both.

Even the slightest mistake will cause the struggling kidneys to directly stop working.

Du Heng quickly recalled what Director Niu had said and asked with some doubt, ”Is the patient not here?”

”No,” Director Niu shook his head slightly helplessly, ”When he came a month ago, the symptoms were already quite apparent. I suggested that he be hospitalized.

But this person, well, said he had a lot of things to handle before he could come.

He dragged it out for a whole month.”

Du Heng’s eyes turned, and he asked softly, ”Could he have gone to another hospital?”

Director Niu shook his head, ”No, he called me last night, spoke about his situation, but I felt he wasn’t telling the truth.”

Du Heng thought for a moment and said, ”Director Niu, you also know that traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes Inspection, Auscultation, Inquiry, and Palpation. To make a comprehensive and relatively accurate judgment, you need to actually see the patient.

Now that the patient isn’t here, I don’t feel confident in making a diagnosis.”

After a slight pause, Du Heng continued, ”How about this, once the patient arrives, notify me immediately. I’ll come over if I can, or if I can’t, we’ll start a video call.

As long as I can see and feel the pulse, it’s better than discussing theoretically.”

Considering his current work content and status, Du Heng was cautious not to overpromise.

Upon hearing Du Heng’s proposal, Director Niu didn’t push further and nodded in agreement.

Seeing there was nothing else, Du Heng turned around and returned to his department.

Originally thinking, if there was nothing in the department, he’d sneak in some extra sleep. But right when he arrived at the consultation room, he encountered two unexpected figures.

”Director Zhang, what brings you here?” It was none other than the grandson of the guru who invited Du Heng for a meal that day.

As Du Heng’s voice fell, Director Zhang stood up with a hearty laugh, ”Ah, I was planning to call you brother, or buddy, but your calling me Director Zhang makes my greeting awkward.”

Du Heng glanced at the figure behind and laughed, ”Did I call you incorrectly?”

”You certainly did. I’m a few years older than you, so if you think highly of me and find me agreeable, call me Brother Zhang or Brother Shiping.

If you don’t think we’re that close, feel free to call me by name.

Just don’t use formal titles like Director, it’s too distant.”

Zhang Shiping spoke a lot, perhaps sincerely or not.

Du Heng raised an eyebrow and, without much thought, directly called, ”Brother Zhang, my mistake.”

With a call of ”Brother Zhang,” Zhang Shiping’s face immediately brightened, becoming more enthusiastic.

Zhang Shiping laughed and said, ”Okay, that’s the best way to call.”

”Brother Zhang, why do you have time to come by today? Is there something going on?” Du Heng grinned and then asked his inner curiosity.

”I’m here for two things today.”

”Please tell me, Brother Zhang.”

”First thing is I need you to visit again and check on my grandfather’s condition.”

Du Heng nodded, ”I plan to go over tomorrow morning. Since Brother Zhang is here now, shall we go over now?”

Zhang Shiping waved his hand, ”It’s not urgent in these couple of minutes. Let me finish speaking, and then we’ll go.”

After speaking, Zhang Shiping pointed to the figure next to him, ”This is Gu Qinghong, you two should be familiar, right?”

Gu Qinghong looked at Du Heng with a grievance.

Du Heng could only nod helplessly, ”Yes, how could I not know?”

”Haha, Qinghong is my sister. If she’s offended you in any way, please be considerate.” Zhang Shiping said out of the blue.

Du Heng was momentarily stunned, then understood Zhang Shiping’s meaning, and said with a bitter smile, ”Brother Zhang, you’re misunderstanding here. There’s no offense between us.”

Upon finishing, Gu Qinghong looked even more aggrieved.

Zhang Shiping laughed and said, ”Then I was being paranoid. How about this, regardless of whether you have issues, after checking on my grandfather, let’s have a meal and drink together, shall we?”

What else could Du Heng do but agree?

Du Heng and Cao Binghe made some arrangements, and then went to the First Medical Center together with Zhang Shiping.

But the elderly’s situation is just like that, Du Heng was prepared early on, and after prescribing a remedy full of supplements, this matter was settled.

Don’t underestimate this supplement remedy; Du Heng put a lot of effort into it.

With the elderly’s current condition, just giving a single piece of decades-old ginseng would instantly invigorate him, but this vigor would quickly turn into a flash in the pan.

Once this burst of energy passes, not even a hundred-year-old ginseng would sustain the elderly’s vitality.

Therefore, in Du Heng’s remedy, he made every effort to ensure that the medicine could persistently and maximally exert its effects without burdening the elderly’s body, allowing it to be gradually absorbed.

Moreover, the remedy includes not only some common precious medicinal ingredients but also some that have been banned.

For this remedy, the cost of a single dose exceeds the average person’s monthly salary.

After dinner, Zhang Shiping wanted to invite Du Heng to another event, but Du Heng politely declined.

He’s never really been interested in nightlife, and he can’t expect to have much free time in the evening.

Once home, Du Heng, as usual, had a video call with Wu Shengnan to see his daughter.

After asking about how Kang Zhirong is doing, he began a video call with Wu Buwei to dive into work.

At this moment, Kang Zhirong was standing with his girlfriend at the entrance of the Second Affiliated Hospital of JZU, appearing quite anxious.

”I just don’t understand; now it’s you begging them. If you don’t take the initiative, how can you expect them to let you off?” Kang Zhirong’s girlfriend Keke said angrily, seeing him hesitating.

Ever since she learned about this matter, she’s had a lot of pent-up anger.

Her boyfriend, arrested at the police station for fighting with another woman’s ex-boyfriend.

The more she thinks about it, the angrier and more frustrated she gets.

But given the circumstances, since a hospitalization is involved, Keke can only temporarily keep her anger inside.

This makes her increasingly dissatisfied whenever she looks at Kang Zhirong.

Kang Zhirong hesitated, holding the gift box in his hand, took two steps forward, and then couldn’t help but stop again, ”Keke, maybe we should just let it go.

Anyway, compensation is inevitable. How about waiting until he’s discharged tomorrow to discuss it?”

Keke glared at Kang Zhirong, ”Is it the same? Your attitude determines how they interact with you in the future.

If you show a bit more goodwill, they might ask for less.

But if you don’t show any attitude, they’ll definitely demand exorbitant amounts.”

Kang Zhirong, remembering the man’s demeanor that day, couldn’t help but bitterly laugh, ”Even if I get on my knees for this jerk, he would still demand a fortune.”

”Stop talking nonsense, just go. If you don’t go, you’ll never have a chance. If you go, there’s a possibility.”

Keke angrily pushed Kang Zhirong towards the direction of the hospitalization department.

After wandering around the hospital room, Kang Zhirong seemed slightly innocent, yet inexplicably relieved as he said, ”See, he’s not here; there’s really no need for us to be here.

Now that we’re here, he’s not, let’s just go back.”

Keke glared at Kang Zhirong once more, ”We’re already here, no sense in going back just for that. Let’s wait here.”

”Still have to wait?” Kang Zhirong looked at Keke with a face full of sorrow.

”Of course, we have to wait.”

Keke’s stance was resolute.

But unfortunately, after waiting for almost an hour, they still hadn’t seen the man’s figure.

After glaring at Kang Zhirong again, Keke turned and walked towards the nurse station, ”Nurse, do you know where the patient in Bed 16 went?”

The nurse at the nurse station glanced at Keke, ”Are you his relative?”

Keke quickly shook her head, ”No, just his friend, here to visit him.”

”Then why don’t you call him? He’s been out all day. We nurses and doctors weren’t notified, and he’s not answering our calls.”

The nurse, sounding a bit annoyed, said, ”Your friend is really something, putting us in a difficult position. If anything happens, the responsibility will be entirely his.”

Keke awkwardly nodded and quickly walked away from the nurse station.

After hearing what Keke said, Kang Zhirong instantly felt incredibly relieved, ”Now can we finally leave? It’s not that I’m refusing to be diplomatic; it’s just that he’s not giving me the chance.”

Keke, her face flushed with anger, fiercely said, ”Just pray that nothing happens to him, or it’s still your issue.”

She said, grabbing her little bag, and briskly left the hospital.

Kang Zhirong smiled indifferently.

He’s a grown-up, and he’ll be discharged tomorrow; what could possibly happen?

Unless getting hit by a car counts as something, and what does that have to do with me?

Kang Zhirong was feeling quite optimistic, but he seemed to have forgotten that this man is not an ’ordinary man,’ and he’s been plagued with bad luck himself lately.
