This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

However, Du Heng did not play favorites.

After spending some time with his daughter and being affectionate with Wu Shengnan for a little while, he managed to prevent Wu Shengnan from turning into a complete ’Red Wolf’.

”Alright, stop being so clingy. She doesn’t even recognize people yet, so don’t flatter yourself,” Wu Shengnan said after chatting for a while and hearing her daughter’s hungry cry. She no longer wanted to be lovey-dovey with Du Heng. ”Pay attention to what I said earlier, and communicate well with Xiao Kang.”

”Okay, I got it. I’ll contact him now.”

After hanging up the video call, Du Heng was about to call Kang Zhirong, but the nanny happened to call him for dinner. Kang Zhirong’s matter was difficult to explain, and Du Heng hadn’t figured out what to say. So, hearing the nanny call for dinner, he used it as an excuse to buy himself some time to think about how to approach the situation.

However, Kang Zhirong didn’t have Du Heng’s worries at this moment; he was currently having dinner with his girlfriend’s family.

As the meal was coming to an end, Kang Zhirong went to pay the bill, and his phone rang in his pocket. He picked it up and saw that it was from Xie Kaiyao, his assistant.

Kang Zhirong frowned, hesitating for a moment before decisively hanging up the phone.

He wasn’t a fool.

After being gently reminded twice by Wu Shengnan, he consciously began to recall some of his previous actions.

Indeed, being with this assistant sparked a thrill he’d never felt with his girlfriend, and deep down, he somewhat liked that feeling.

It was obvious that Xie Kaiyao had made moves on him, and he had been rejecting her the whole time.

But after reflecting on his behavior over the past few days, he realized that his rejections were like those of a brothel girl, fully demonstrating what it meant to ”resist with a hidden desire.”

He really wasn’t a good person!

Kang Zhirong figured it out and accurately defined his recent behavior. When he thought about how he had been coldly neglecting his girlfriend recently, he felt like a complete good-for-nothing. This realization led to his arrangement of inviting her entire family for dinner today.

Just then, Xie Kaiyao called. It wasn’t the first time today; in fact, it was the fifth time.

This made Kang Zhirong, who was already feeling a bit guilty, suddenly become rather impatient.

After hanging up, Kang Zhirong paid the bill. As he was walking back with the receipt, his phone, still in his pocket, rang again. It was the sixth time.

Any lingering positive feeling Kang Zhirong had for his assistant was completely worn away by the incessant phone calls.

Taking a deep breath, Kang Zhirong picked up the phone, his voice a little dry. ”What’s up?”

”Rong, do you have time right now? Can you do me a favor?” The voice on the other end of the phone sounded pitiful.

”Sorry, I’m having dinner with my girlfriend.”

”Rong, please help me. There’s a shirtless man outside my door; he’s been lurking around and pounding on my door.” Xie Kaiyao’s voice trembled, and she sounded genuinely frightened. ”Rong, I’m scared.”

Kang Zhirong furrowed his brows, thinking for a moment before replying, ”Call the police and let them handle it. Isn’t that better than me getting involved?”

”That won’t work, Rong. I’ve called the police several times, but they can’t do anything to him. They say the man hasn’t done anything illegal, so they can’t get involved.”

Xie Kaiyao pleaded, ”Rong, please help me, I’m terrified right now.” This put Kang Zhirong in a difficult spot.

After thinking for a moment, Kang Zhirong finally said, ”Keep your door locked, and I’ll be right there.”

He hung up the phone and let out a deep breath, adjusting his expression before walking back to the table with a smile.

”Xiao Kang, are you very busy?” His future father-in-law’s expression had been consistently displeased. Kang Zhirong’s phone had rung several times during the meal, and then even more when he went to settle the bill.

This clearly annoyed his future father-in-law, who felt disrespected and asked, ”What kind of matter requires them to call you repeatedly?”

Kang Zhirong hurriedly smiled apologetically. ”No, no, it’s just a little company business.”

”You know, my boss has a Foundation, and now the whole thing is in my hands. Anyone who applies for money has to call me.”

At this time, his mother-in-law spoke up. ”Your boss’s Foundation, Keke told us about it; they’re doing great charitable work! You can’t delay these things. Those who come to you for money must be desperate, with nowhere else to turn. You have to help them.”

His girlfriend also added considerately, ”If you’re busy, go ahead. We’ve already finished eating. I’ll accompany Mom and Dad home later. Doctor Du assigned you such an important job; you can’t be careless and mess it up.”

Kang Zhirong felt his face burning, but since the conversation had reached this point, he could only go along with it. ”Is that okay?”

The mother-in-law waved her hand. ”Go and do your work. Young people should focus on their careers. We can take care of ourselves.”

Kang Zhirong stood up apologetically. After offering a few more words of apology, he excused himself and left first.

His future father-in-law watched his retreating figure with displeasure and grumbled after he was out of earshot, ”So rude, he didn’t even say goodbye to us.”

Keke looked helplessly at her father. ”Dad, Zhirong *did* excuse himself.”
