”Are we really okay just leaving Mo-bao alone in the cave like this?”

After walking out of the cave, Mo Yu glanced at the Haxorus ahead, then turned and asked Ah Hui and the flat-headed youth in a low voice.

Suppressing the complicated emotions in his heart, Ah Hui replied calmly,

”It’s fine. Staying there would only get in Mo-ge’s way. If we accidentally upset the Haxorus, that’d be even worse. Besides…”

As he spoke, Ah Hui took out his phone and waved it slightly.

”Mo-ge’s still livestreaming. Whether we stay or not doesn’t really matter.”

”Oh, right!”

Mo Yu suddenly realized.

Just as she was about to take out her phone like the others—

the Axew that had been tucked under the Haxorus’s arm finally broke free after struggling.

”Axew!”

Letting out a triumphant cry, it ignored the furious Haxorus behind it and scampered toward Mo Yu on its short legs.

Then—

it hugged Mo Yu’s calf, tilting its head up with a pitiful expression, as if begging, save me.

Mo Yu: ”...”

The Haxorus shook its head helplessly, giving Mo Yu an almost human-like apologetic look.

”Nuoda!”

After glaring fiercely at the Axew hiding behind her, it turned and continued leading the way.

”Looks like this Axew really likes you.”

The flat-headed youth commented, glancing at the little Axew stretching out its tiny arms, clearly asking to be held.

”…Maybe.”

Since the Axew was willing to approach her—and its father, the Haxorus, didn’t object—Mo Yu boldly picked it up.

Thinking about it, she did share a bit of fate with this Axew.

Back when she was being chased by the Beedrill, she had run into it in the forest.

At first, she was startled. She didn’t underestimate it just because it was small and had intended to leave quickly.

But unexpectedly—

the Axew suddenly dropped the berries it was holding and grabbed onto her pant leg with both little claws, refusing to let go.

With no other choice, Mo Yu let it drag her along—

and somehow, she ended up at this Axew settlement.

”…It really feels like fate.”

Mo Yu looked at Axew.

Axew looked back at her.

The two smiled at the same time.

”Hey!”

Suddenly, Ah Hui let out a startled cry.

Mo Yu turned toward them.

”What’s wrong?”

”The stream’s gone.”

Ah Hui stared at his phone, now filled with question marks, his expression puzzled.

”According to the comments, Mo-ge suddenly told viewers he might cut the stream for a bit—and then it just went black.”

”Do you think something happened?”

The flat-headed youth frowned.

Ah Hui shook his head.

”If Mo-ge turned it off himself, then it shouldn’t be anything serious. No need for us to worry.”

Having spent time with Chen Mo, Ah Hui understood his personality and way of doing things fairly well.

At the very least—

if Chen Mo chose to end the stream himself, it meant what came next wasn’t suitable for a public audience.

Inside the cave

After putting away the livestream equipment, Chen Mo looked at the aged Haxorus ahead, his expression slightly serious.

Telepathy… again.

The last Pokémon that communicated with him this way was the very same Suicune the Haxorus had just mentioned.

Though initially surprised, considering the Haxorus’s age—and the vast skill pool revealed by Detecting Eye—it wasn’t entirely unexpected.

But…

”A human blessed by Suicune.”

”The Hero of Ideals.”

Those titles together—

were exactly why Chen Mo chose to cut the stream.

Just what kind of existence… was this Haxorus?

Seemingly sensing Chen Mo’s confusion, the aged Haxorus revealed a gentle expression. Its old voice echoed again through telepathy.

”Do not be afraid, Hero of Ideals. Though you do not know me, I came to this forest guided by Lord Suicune. I have long heard of your reputation.”

What reputation do I even have…

Chen Mo felt a bit embarrassed by the praise, though he didn’t show it. Instead, he asked,

”Guided by Suicune?”

”Yes.”

The Haxorus nodded.

”My tribe once lived in a forest far to the north. Not long ago, Lord Suicune came to us. It foresaw a disaster that would befall that land and urged us to leave.”

”By chance, I also heard about you from Lord Suicune. So I led the Axew and migrated here.”

”I see…”

Chen Mo finally understood one of his earlier doubts.

No wonder Pidgeotto had never seen this Axew tribe before.

They had only recently moved here.

But at the same time, a new question arose.

Since when did Suicune have the ability to foresee disasters?

Wasn’t that Absol’s specialty?

Sensing his confusion, the Haxorus shook its head.

”I do not know the nature of the disaster. Lord Suicune did not elaborate.”

After saying that, it looked at Chen Mo kindly.

”But I can sense that you are puzzled… about why we are so friendly toward humans.”

”…That’s true.”

Chen Mo nodded.

”I don’t understand why your tribe is so close to humans.”

”Hero of Ideals,”

the aged Haxorus spoke slowly,

”you should know… to this world, we are outsiders.”

”And in our original world… I once had a human partner.”

Having lived for over a thousand years, this Haxorus had long understood—

even if its declining strength prevented it from sensing the force that brought Pokémon into this world—

that this was no longer its homeland.

A trace of sorrow appeared on its face.

If it could choose—

it would never have left its old home.

Never come to this world, where Pokémon were not yet fully accepted.

More importantly—

its trainer…

was buried in that old world.

That place held all of its memories.

Everything it cherished.

And this new world—

held nothing it could call its own.
