Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

Compared to many other Legendary Pokémon, the Legendary Beasts were born relatively late.

For Suicune, it had never personally experienced that ancient era when humans and Pokémon were still hostile toward one another. From the very beginning, it had lived in a world where humans and Pokémon could more or less coexist peacefully.

So when an unknown force brought it into this world, everything it saw and experienced made Suicune deeply uncomfortable.

Suicune decided it had to do something here.

As one of the Legendary Pokémon, it had the power to prevent many tragedies.

Thus, it restrained certain powerful Pokémon—such as Hydreigon—and required them to help minimize conflicts between humans and Pokémon within their territories.

Later, when Suicune heard from Absol about a certain human who was doing something similar—and who already had several Pokémon willingly following him—its curiosity was piqued.

So it went to see that human.

On the outskirts of Evergreen Forest, Suicune met Chen Mo for the first time.

Just one distant glance was enough.

Suicune could immediately sense the aura around him—the strong blessing of the Dragon of Ideals.

The Brave One of Ideals…

What a pity.

If not for the existence of Zekrom, the Dragon of Ideals, Suicune would have gladly recommended this extraordinary human as the next Rainbow Hero.

With such pure ideals, he surely could have met Ho-Oh’s expectations.

What a shame…

The fragment of spiritual energy faded away.

Chen Mo snapped back to reality.

When he turned his head, he saw Pikachu, Pidgeotto, and Haunter staring at him with anxious and worried expressions.

”It’s okay…”

He gently reassured the three Pokémon before looking toward Suicune, who was preparing to leave.

Suicune was very busy.

In its original world, before a Rainbow Hero appeared, Suicune’s duty had been to travel across the world, purifying waters that had become polluted for various reasons.

But in this world, Suicune had given itself an additional responsibility.

Because of that, its life had become even busier.

Chen Mo had originally thought Suicune had remained in Evergreen Forest for the past week.

But in reality, during that time Suicune had already left Chuanshu City and traveled to many other places.

Absol, however, had remained in Evergreen Forest the entire time.

It was because Absol sensed the disaster happening here—and had no way to contact Suicune immediately—that it sought help from Chen Mo, this unusual human.

”Farewell then, Brave One of Ideals.”

Suicune’s gentle voice echoed once more in Chen Mo’s mind.

During the brief moment when his spiritual energy had been borrowed, the human and the Legendary Pokémon had grown somewhat closer through their shared ideals.

Although reluctant to part, Chen Mo believed—

since they carried the same beliefs, they would surely meet again someday.

Perhaps in some forest.

By some river.

Or beside a quiet lake.

Just as Chen Mo was about to wave goodbye, he suddenly remembered something.

”Wait, Suicune! I have something I’d like to ask for your help with—if that’s okay.”

Seeing the earnest look in the young man’s eyes, Suicune nodded gently.

Chen Mo didn’t hesitate.

”It’s like this. I have a friend…”

Meanwhile—

At the temporary campsite several thousand meters away.

Hearing Chen Mo’s voice from the livestream, Ah Hui froze.

That’s right.

After seeing Suicune’s miraculous healing ability, Chen Mo had thought about Ah Hui’s Caterpie, whose growth had been stunted due to congenital weakness.

So he asked Suicune if there might be a way to help.

After all, Suicune had shown such comprehensive abilities. As a Legendary Pokémon, perhaps it really could solve Caterpie’s problem.

”Brother Mo… he actually…”

Watching the livestream, Ah Hui was so moved he could barely speak.

After all, he was talking to Suicune, one of the Legendary Pokémon.

Yet even in such an incredible moment, Chen Mo still remembered this small matter about him and Caterpie.

That kind of consideration went far beyond ordinary friendship.

Honestly—

throughout their journey, Ah Hui had felt extremely guilty.

Among the trio traveling together, he believed he was the most useless.

Yi-ge at least worked as an official cameraman, responsible for filming Chen Mo’s livestreams.

But as for himself…

He ate and traveled with them, yet whenever danger appeared, it was Chen Mo who had to protect him.

He couldn’t help at all.

At that moment, Chen Mo’s figure in Ah Hui’s mind became incredibly tall and heroic.

Ah Hui clenched his teeth and silently made a decision.

He would step out of his comfort zone.

Together with Caterpie, he would grow stronger.

And one day, he would definitely be able to help Chen Mo.

Yi-ge glanced at Ah Hui, who looked like he was practically burning with determination.

Then he looked down at the Natu at his feet, which was staring up at him.

Yi-ge fell into deep thought.

Meanwhile—

After listening to Chen Mo describe Caterpie’s condition, Suicune shook its head.

”I’m sorry. I cannot help.”

Suicune explained that although its healing ability also originated from Ho-Oh, it was fundamentally different from Ho-Oh’s power of resurrection.

It could heal external injuries, but it could not repair congenital defects.

”I see…”

Chen Mo sighed softly.

But Suicune smiled gently.

”Although I cannot heal Caterpie, I know a Pokémon who certainly can. Since you know so much about us, you should know that it is the only one among us who inherited Lord Ho-Oh’s Sacred Fire.”

Chen Mo immediately understood.

”You mean… Entei!?”

”Yes.”

Suicune looked at Chen Mo.

Its ruby-like eyes glowed faintly once again.

Under Suicune’s gaze, an image gradually formed inside Chen Mo’s mind.

It was a vast lake.

On a mountain peak beside the lake stood a majestic Pokémon.

It had orange-red fur, powerful limbs adorned with four iron rings, and a red six-pointed star-shaped structure on its cheeks.

On its forehead was a golden crest shaped like a clover, and behind it trailed a wisp of flowing white smoke.

Like a king—

it gazed down upon the world below.

”Entei…”

If Chen Mo guessed correctly, this was Suicune’s memory.

The gentle voice spoke again.

”This is the last place where I saw it. The humans nearby called that place Tianchi—Heavenly Lake.”

”If you can find it, it will certainly have the power to help your friend.”
