Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

”A Legendary Pokémon?”

When Officer Wang heard the voice coming from the screen, his expression changed instantly.

The terrifying thunderclouds created by Zekrom above Hongjingpo Forest were still vivid in his memory. Coupled with Chen Mo’s earlier mention of Uxie, the so-called ”God of Knowledge,” contingency plans for Legendary Pokémon had already been drafted across numerous government departments.

Even so—

although many were curious about Legendary Pokémon and had obtained partial information through the simplified Pokédex Chen Mo provided, the reason they were called legendary was precisely because they almost never appeared before the public.

So the moment Chen Mo personally confirmed that Suicune was one of them, every department across the country watching the livestream raised their alert level to maximum.

Through satellite adjustments and coordination between agencies, the sudden rainstorm and thick fog covering Evergreen Forest were quickly mapped.

The scale of the phenomenon was no smaller than the disaster-like thunderclouds Zekrom had once created above Hongjingpo Forest.

”Professor Zhou…”

Officer Wang looked at the man on the video call—still wearing his pajamas—with a grave expression.

”Yes. I more or less understand the situation.”

Professor Zhou gazed at Suicune on the screen and sighed softly.

He already knew that many powerful Pokémon possessed the ability to change weather instantly.

But the problem was—

the scale of the anomalies caused by Zekrom and now Suicune had far exceeded their previous estimates.

”The embodiment of the north wind, huh…”

Meanwhile—

Under Suicune’s gaze, Hydreigon in the sky finally couldn’t hold back.

Orange-red energy rapidly gathered inside its mouth.

Just as Hyper Beam was about to fire—

Suicune moved.

For a brief instant, the torrential rain seemed to freeze in place.

Then—

a biting wind howled across the battlefield.

Every raindrop it touched instantly froze into ice.

Under that freezing gale, Hydreigon began trembling uncontrollably. The Hyper Beam it had just finished charging went completely out of control, firing wildly past its target.

The blazing orange beam carved a trench dozens of meters long through the nearby forest.

The wind lifted Suicune’s purple mane.

Its expression remained completely unchanged.

But in Hydreigon’s eyes, unwillingness and despair appeared.

It struggled desperately—

yet under the freezing wind, its body slowly crystallized along with the surrounding rain.

There were no flashy explosions.

No dramatic spectacle.

But in a single exchange—

the battle was over.

[??? What just happened!?]

[I thought we were about to see a comet-level clash… but Hydreigon just got wrecked?]

[Honestly I didn’t even see Suicune attack. It just stood there and Hydreigon froze.]

[I couldn’t even see how it moved. Is this what a Legendary Pokémon is like? Hydreigon is a pseudo-legendary—Mo-baby said they’re the strongest under Legendary Pokémon—but it couldn’t last even one round!?]

[This isn’t even a fight.]

[Everyone calm down, I’ll analyze: Hydreigon fought Aerodactyl first and got injured, then took Pidgeotto’s strongest Aerial Ace, then fought Pikachu and the others. It’s already exhausted. If it were at full strength, I think Hydreigon could survive at least three rounds against Suicune! …Okay fine, I’m just praising Suicune—it’s insanely strong!!!]

[So far Suicune gives me two words: elegant and mysterious… and powerful.]

”So strong…”

Chen Mo murmured.

For the livestream audience, this was their first time witnessing a Legendary Pokémon appear—and the first time seeing one display its power.

But for Chen Mo—

this was also the first time.

The way Suicune defeated an overlord-level Pokémon so effortlessly…

Compared with how desperately Chen Mo had struggled earlier to defeat Hydreigon, the contrast only made Suicune’s overwhelming power feel even more surreal.

The gap was enormous.

Not just between Suicune and every Pokémon present—

but also between reality and certain memories Chen Mo had.

Especially that scene in the anime…

where a Suicune had once been trapped by a simple net.

Chen Mo could already imagine it.

If the roles were reversed—if the Suicune Gou encountered were replaced by the one before him—

the outcome would be extremely tragic.

Of course, the tragedy would belong to the humans trying to capture Suicune.

”Right!”

Suddenly Chen Mo remembered something.

Suicune had been here for a while now. Because he’d been too focused on watching it, Chen Mo had forgotten to use Insight Eye like he usually did whenever encountering a new Pokémon.

Now that he remembered, he immediately activated it.

The result—

For the first time ever, Insight Eye returned no information.

Only a message echoed in his mind:

[Detection Failed]

”As expected…”

Chen Mo wasn’t surprised.

Previously, when examining Pidgeotto and Pichu’s condition, Insight Eye had also failed to analyze the power of Zekrom.

Since Suicune was also a Legendary Pokémon, such interference made perfect sense.

On the battlefield—

Hydreigon had reached its limit.

Nearly two-thirds of its body was frozen solid. It could no longer keep itself airborne and crashed heavily to the ground, leaving a crater.

Suicune slowly walked toward it.

It gazed down at the struggling Hydreigon trapped in ice, as if communicating with it in some silent way.

Watching this scene, Chen Mo had a feeling.

Suicune didn’t intend to kill Hydreigon.

With the power it had displayed, it could easily have finished the battle instantly.

Yet instead it deliberately left Hydreigon alive, merely sealing its movements.

”Trying to teach Hydreigon a lesson…”

As the one rescued, Chen Mo certainly had no objection.

But now that the danger had passed, his mind began to wander.

He looked at the elegant blue-and-white figure ahead and fell into thought.

Judging from Hydreigon’s reaction, Suicune probably wasn’t a resident of Evergreen Forest.

And since Chen Mo had first glimpsed its shadow in the mist more than a week ago, a long gap had passed.

Yet after all that time—

they still encountered Suicune again while traveling through the forest.

How should he put it…

Chen Mo felt like something about this situation was a little… strange.
