When talking about the Pokémon world, aside from the countless Pokémon themselves, there’s another indispensable item that always comes up:

Poké Balls.

Chen Mo didn’t know what other Pokémon fans in his original world thought about Poké Balls.

But when he was little, watching the protagonist on TV stand on the battlefield, twist his cap, spin a Poké Ball, and throw it out—

”I choose you, ______!”

Every time a Pokémon emerged from the Poké Ball, Chen Mo would feel his blood boil with excitement.

However…

After crossing into this world—where humans and Pokémon were constantly in conflict—Chen Mo quickly realized something.

He knew just how overpowered Poké Balls truly were.

If Poké Balls were casually introduced into this world, the consequences could be enormous.

Because of that, Chen Mo had struggled with the idea for a long time.

Until last night.

Things finally took a turn.

Because he had been worrying about travel arrangements for Absol, Pidgeotto, and Magikarp, Chen Mo once again opened the system shop and looked at the Poké Ball blueprints.

To be honest, his feelings were extremely conflicted at the time.

According to his original plan, Poké Balls should only be introduced after most people in this country could accept Pokémon.

If he revealed Poké Balls simply because traveling with his Pokémon was inconvenient, that would be selfish.

So after finishing his phone call with Professor Zhou last night, when Chen Mo cooled down, he regretted staring at the Poké Ball blueprints in the shop.

It wasn’t the right time.

Just as he was about to dismiss the idea entirely—

He noticed something in the shop.

A Hisui-style Poké Ball blueprint.

Hisui was the ancient name for the Sinnoh region.

Although the game Pokémon Legends: Arceus had been popular before his transmigration, Chen Mo had never actually played it—he had only watched some gameplay videos online.

Curious, he clicked on it.

And that’s when he noticed something unusual.

Inside the purchase page was a note:

Note: This blueprint has two versions — Complete and Incomplete.

It was the first time Chen Mo had ever seen such a description.

Out of curiosity, he checked the difference.

The complete version had all the familiar Poké Ball functions:

ThrowingCapturing PokémonSuppressing their power

But the incomplete version was different.

It basically only retained the ability to store Pokémon.

It couldn’t restrain Pokémon power at all.

The system description even mentioned that people of that era considered it a failed product.

When Chen Mo saw that—

He froze.

Then his face lit up with excitement.

The reason he had avoided Poké Balls before was precisely because of their forced control over Pokémon.

But this incomplete version?

It was exactly what he needed.

No—

It shouldn’t be called an incomplete Poké Ball.

It should be called a Travel Poké Ball.

”Professor Zhou, there’s something I’d like to give you.”

Taking a deep breath, Chen Mo still had some lingering worries, but he knew it was time.

”Oh? What is it?”

Professor Zhou set down his teacup with curiosity.

Chen Mo didn’t waste time.

He pulled out a bound blueprint document from his shoulder bag and handed it over.

”This is…”

”A Poké Ball blueprint.”

”Poké… Ball?”

Professor Zhou looked puzzled.

He flipped open the document.

The first page immediately described the function.

”…A device capable of shrinking Pokémon and storing them inside…”

When he reached that line, Professor Zhou’s interest clearly spiked.

Chen Mo stayed quiet, waiting patiently.

Occasionally he heard Professor Zhou muttering:

”Impossible…”

”This isn’t scientific…”

And honestly, that was fair.

The blueprint explained how to build the device, but not the actual scientific principles behind it.

Chen Mo vaguely remembered discussions from online forums in his previous life.

One theory said Poké Balls originated from a mistaken experiment by a professor.

A weakened Pokémon instinctively shrank its body and hid inside a glasses case.

That incident inspired the development of Poké Balls.

Of course, that explanation had problems.

It might explain modern Poké Balls—but Hisui-era Poké Balls already existed.

Still, the story gave Chen Mo another thought.

Maybe Poké Balls weren’t originally designed to capture Pokémon.

Perhaps they were simply meant to help trainers carry Pokémon companions who couldn’t always travel beside them.

The capture function might have been added later by researchers.

Which was exactly why Chen Mo had hesitated to reveal this technology.

Because he didn’t know whether researchers in this world would eventually create true capturing Poké Balls.

After finishing the blueprint, Professor Zhou looked thoughtful.

After a moment, he asked:

”Did the Knowledge God Uxie give you this as well?”

Before Chen Mo could answer, Professor Zhou quickly added:

”I’m just asking casually. If it’s difficult to say, that’s fine.”

Chen Mo smiled.

”No problem. But this time you guessed wrong.”

”This blueprint doesn’t come from Uxie.”

”It came from the ancient ruins the Unown took me to during the Hongjingpo Forest livestream.”

”Ruins?”

Professor Zhou immediately recalled the ruins with murals depicting Zekrom and an unknown king.

”You probably noticed during the livestream that my condition became strange for a while,” Chen Mo continued.

”That’s because my consciousness was pulled into another space by the Unown.”

”Another space?”

Professor Zhou’s expression grew serious.

”There, I saw the second half of the mural story… and the legendary king who started a new ancient era.”

Professor Zhou’s pupils shrank.

”What?!”

”Don’t worry. When I met him, he was already a spiritual remnant. He could only communicate with me through the Unown’s power.”

”I see…”

Professor Zhou relaxed slightly and gestured for him to continue.

Chen Mo began narrating the prepared story.

He described the mural’s events:

Zekrom’s slumberThe fall of the original kingBetrayal of idealsCollapse of the kingdom

Professor Zhou listened quietly.

Then suddenly he realized something.

All of this was interesting—

But what did it have to do with Poké Balls?

”…Mr. Arthas asked me to help find Zekrom, who might still be sleeping somewhere in this world.”

”In exchange, he passed on a power called Aura and some ancient knowledge from his era—including Poké Ball blueprints.”

Professor Zhou blinked.

”Aura? What’s that?”

”You can think of it as a kind of superpower.”

Chen Mo had two abilities granted by the system:

Detect Eye (already explained as Uxie’s gift)Aura

Now seemed like the perfect moment to shift responsibility again.

During the Evergreen Forest journey, traveling with Ah Hui and Yi-ge meant Chen Mo’s abilities had occasionally been exposed.

Yi-ge, being highly capable, likely noticed something.

Instead of waiting for official questions later—

Chen Mo decided to preemptively blame everything on Arthas.

After all, nobody had ever seen Arthas.

”…In short, Aura is a form of spiritual energy present in all living beings.”

”It can allow telepathy, environmental sensing, barriers, or attacks.”

”My most practiced ability…”

Chen Mo paused.

He glanced at the office door.

”Professor Zhou, in less than ten seconds someone will knock on the door.”

”She’s a young woman with black-framed glasses and a beauty mark near her left eye.”

”She’s holding a document called ’Pokédex Promotion Plan.’”

The moment he finished—

Knock knock.

Professor Zhou glanced at Chen Mo before saying:

”Come in.”

The door opened.

A young woman matching Chen Mo’s description entered, holding exactly such a document.

”…Professor Zhou, here’s the Pokédex promotion proposal—”

Her voice slowly faded when she saw the two men staring at her strangely.

Half a minute later, she left.

Professor Zhou stared at the document thoughtfully.

Superpowers…

He removed his glasses and rubbed his temples.

Aura was different from Chen Mo’s previous ability from Uxie.

That one was limited knowledge.

But Aura was a true supernatural power passed from another human.

After thinking for a moment, Professor Zhou put his glasses back on and spoke seriously.

”There’s something I must tell you.”

”What is it?”

”I hope you never mention Aura to anyone else.”

”Not even close friends.”

”And avoid displaying it during livestreams.”

Chen Mo immediately understood.

Professor Zhou was concerned about his safety.

Warmth spread through Chen Mo’s heart.

”I understand.”

Then Chen Mo noticed something odd.

Professor Zhou seemed unaware that Chen Mo had shown other unusual abilities before.

Meaning—

Yi-ge hadn’t reported those suspicions.

”Oh right,” Professor Zhou added.

”There’s one more thing.”

”What is it?”

”About the Poké Ball.”

”Even though you got the blueprint from Arthas, we plan to announce it publicly under Uxie’s name.”

Professor Zhou continued calmly.

”And don’t mention Arthas, Unown powers, or anything related to them to anyone else.”

”Understood.”

”I’ll handle the rest.”

Then Professor Zhou smiled.

”Now…”

”Let’s talk about the Poké Ball itself.”

”For example—”

”How exactly does it shrink a Pokémon and fit it into a ball?” 🧠📱⚡
