Though they said it wasn’t a good idea—

their actions told a different story.

In the eyes of everyone, including Ah Hui, the Combee in that flower field had once been helped by Chen Mo. That meant they should be much friendlier toward humans than other wild Pokémon.

Even if they couldn’t capture one—

at least getting close… maybe even touching one… should be possible.

With that mindset, the group followed Ah Hui toward the flower field.

Warm sunlight filtered through the dense forest canopy, scattering across the grass below.

If it were just one or two people entering such a forest, the quiet atmosphere would inevitably bring some tension.

But—

with a group of more than ten people gathered together—

that nervousness vanished.

Instead, curiosity took over.

They constantly scanned their surroundings.

Every now and then, a wild Pokémon darting out from the bushes would draw everyone’s attention.

”Rattata!”

”A Nidoran♂ and Nidoran♀ just ran past!”

”There’s a Bellsprout here!”

Pokémon they had only seen in Chen Mo’s streams now appeared before their eyes one after another.

Ah Hui quickly snapped photos of each one.

However—

what disappointed everyone was that even when they tried using berries as bait, these wild Pokémon remained extremely cautious.

Most hesitated—

then ran away.

Others didn’t even hesitate.

The moment they saw the group—

they fled.

”…Could it be because we have too many people?”

Chen Mo had mentioned before:

Most wild Pokémon are gentle but wary, and will avoid humans.

A large group like this—

naturally felt threatening.

No one suggested splitting up.

Instead—

they silently picked up the pace toward the flower field.

Soon—

a fragrant scent drifted through the air.

”It’s close!”

Everyone perked up.

They stepped out of the forest—

and into blinding sunlight.

Before them—

a vast field of flowers swayed in the wind.

”Beautiful…”

Someone whispered.

Ah Hui smiled at the eager crowd.

”This flower field is carefully maintained by Combee. Looking is fine—but please don’t repeat the mistakes I made before.”

Everyone laughed and promised.

Haoran stayed quiet.

He felt a bit awkward.

After all—

he had been part of that ”mistake.”

”…There’s no Combee here.”

After entering the field, they quickly noticed—

it was empty.

Not surprising.

Combee wouldn’t stay here all day.

And further ahead—

was their hive.

So they decided to rest here first before heading over.

The breeze carried floral fragrance.

Just standing there—

watching the flowers—

they felt something rare:

peace.

”Feels nice…”

Haoran murmured.

He suddenly recalled his student days.

At first—

he had no interest in camping.

Only agreed because Ah Hui insisted.

But after just one trip—

he fell in love with it.

”Back when Pokémon first appeared, I really hated them.”

Ah Hui’s voice came from beside him.

”They took over nature.”

”But after watching Mo-ge’s streams… understanding them…”

”That feeling disappeared.”

He looked at the flowers.

”If you think about it differently—because of them, nature has become even more beautiful.”

”…Let’s go camping again sometime.”

”With the old group.”

Haoran nodded silently.

”Hey, should we eat something here first?”

”Sure.”

Ah Hui agreed.

”Let’s rest a bit, then visit the Combee hive.”

”Nice!”

Just as everyone cheered—

Haoran suddenly noticed something.

From the nearby forest—

a few yellow figures flew out.

Buzz—buzz—

”Are those Combee?”

Ah Hui turned.

Then froze.

Three giant yellow figures hovered in the air.

Each nearly a meter tall.

Armed with long, sharp white stingers.

”Beedrill…”

Both Ah Hui and Haoran spoke at the same time.

Silence fell.

Ah Hui’s heart sank.

He had made a mistake.

This flower field—

wasn’t just visited by Combee.

Beedrill came here too.

”We don’t mean any harm—”

He tried to explain.

But—

The Beedrill were already furious.

”Buzz buzz buzz!!”

This wasn’t the first time.

First—

a human with a Pichu beat up their kin.

Then—

more humans interfered in their conflict with Combee.

Now—

again?

Enough.

This was their territory now.

They would not tolerate intruders.

Attack!

One Beedrill charged forward.

On Ah Hui’s shoulder—

Caterpie reacted instantly.

It raised its head—

and fired multiple strands of String Shot, binding the Beedrill mid-air.

”Run!!”

Ah Hui shouted.

Chaos erupted.

Fortunately—

as they fled—

Ah Hui noticed something.

The Beedrill weren’t chasing relentlessly.

After a short distance—

the one chasing him turned back.

”…Haa…”

He panted.

Relief flooded in.

Then—

his heart dropped.

”…Where is everyone?”

Out of more than ten people—

only five or six remained.

”…Damn it!”

He slapped his forehead.

Now it made sense—

only one Beedrill chased them.

The other two—

must have gone after the others.

Guilt surged.

He was the leader.

This—

was his responsibility.

No time to regret.

He stood up.

”You guys go back to Red Leaf Lake.”

”I’ll go find the others.”

”Let me come too!”

”It’s not your fault!”

”We all agreed to go there!”

”We face things together!”

”They were just trying to scare us!”

Ah Hui was moved—

but firm.

”No.”

”You go back.”

His authority held.

Reluctantly—

the group began heading back.

Except one.

Haoran stayed.

Looking at him.

”You can’t convince me.”

”...”

Ah Hui sighed.

At that moment—

his phone vibrated.

Caller:

Chen Mo

Guilt surged again.

He answered.

”…Sorry, Mo-ge, I—”

”You don’t need to apologize.”

Chen Mo’s calm voice interrupted.

”I already know what happened.”

Ah Hui froze.

”The Combee have moved away.”

”That flower field now belongs to Beedrill.”

”I should’ve told you earlier.”

”But don’t worry.”

”The Beedrill had prior dealings with the Strategy Bureau.”

”They usually don’t harm humans.”

”They were just driving you out.”

Relief.

Overwhelming relief.

”No one will get hurt…”

That alone—

was enough.

”Thank you… Mo-ge.”

”…I should’ve contacted you earlier.”

”We’ll talk about that later.”

Chen Mo continued.

”You lost some people, right?”

”…Yes.”

Then—

Ah Hui suddenly realized something.

”…Wait.”

”How do you know all this?”

Chen Mo replied calmly:

”I’m already in Hongjingpo Forest.”

”And I’ve found some of your people.”

On his side—

Chen Mo turned back.

Behind him—

a group stood there.

Embarrassed.

Awed.

With Pidgeotto’s help—

he had quickly located them.

”…That’s great.”

Ah Hui silently thanked fate.

They compared numbers.

Then—

realized something.

”…One missing.”

”…Mo Yu.”

Haoran’s heart sank.

The short-haired girl.

Guilt hit both of them.

She was the only girl.

She couldn’t keep up with their pace.

”…My fault.”

Haoran said quietly.

During the escape—

they had made eye contact.

He had wanted to help.

She refused.

Said she could keep up.

Then—

panic took over.

He forgot about her.

”…It’s not your fault.”

Ah Hui shook his head.

”The priority now is finding her.”

”We split up.”

”The Beedrill won’t attack.”

”She’s probably hiding somewhere.”

”Alright.”

The search—

began.
