”Axew!”

Holding two Oran Berries, a small Axew waddled over on its short legs and presented them to Chen Mo.

”Thank you.”

Chen Mo didn’t refuse and took the berries.

”Pikachu, Haunter.”

At his call, Haunter rose up from Chen Mo’s shadow, and together with Pikachu, each accepted an Oran Berry.

”Axew…”

It seemed to be the first time this little Axew had ever seen a Ghost-type Pokémon. It blinked its big eyes at Haunter, its face full of shock and confusion.

How could a Pokémon come out of a shadow?

Haunter’s eyes rolled mischievously. After gulping down its berry in one bite, it instantly sank into the ground and disappeared.

”Axew!?”

Watching Haunter vanish in the blink of an eye, the little Axew looked utterly spooked.

It hurriedly turned around—only to find a twisted ghostly face suddenly right in front of it, less than a few centimeters away.

”Axew!”

The sudden prank made the little Axew jump in fright. It spun around and bumped straight into Chen Mo’s leg.

Dizzy and shaken, both physically and mentally, the little Axew couldn’t hold it in anymore—tears streamed down its face.

At that moment—

a pair of warm hands lifted it up from the ground, gently stroking the horn on its head.

”Axew…”

The tears stopped almost immediately. Its sadness came quickly—and went just as fast.

It glanced at Pikachu sitting on Chen Mo’s shoulder, watching it curiously, then let out a cheerful cry. Climbing up Chen Mo’s arm, it soon reached his other shoulder.

With a new ”neighbor” joining, Pikachu didn’t mind at all. It waved its little paw in greeting.

”Pika~”

Hearing Pikachu’s friendly voice, the little Axew’s eyes curved into happy crescents.

”Axew~”

At the same time, more Axew began gathering around Chen Mo, watching eagerly as the one on his shoulder interacted with Pikachu.

Elsewhere—

Ah Hui, the flat-headed youth, and the short-haired girl Mo Yu—who was lying blissfully on the grass—were each surrounded by more and more Axew.

[I can’t take this anymore—this is literal paradise!]

[So this is why Hui-ge told us to go back to Redleaf Lake—he wanted to hog all the Axew cuddles for himself! I’m jealous!]

[Hmph! Whatever, I’m totally not jealous at all!]

Chen Mo looked at the two little ones playing on his shoulder, a helpless smile on his face.

Although the Axew had just been frightened by Haunter, once Chen Mo picked it up and gently petted it, its favorability skyrocketed.

Chen Mo felt that if it were just him and this Axew alone right now, he could probably convince it to come home with him.

That was… absurd.

This was the first time Chen Mo had encountered a wild Pokémon with such high friendliness toward humans—and not just one, but an entire tribe.

Using Detecting Eye, he scanned all the Axew present.

The result shocked him.

Every Axew had a favorability of at least 20, with many reaching 50 or 60+.

The system wouldn’t lie.

And judging from their behavior, the Axew truly were extremely friendly toward humans.

But…

this didn’t make sense.

Chen Mo secretly glanced at the three Haxorus resting beneath the tree.

Weren’t they worried that humans might be dangerous?

Just as Chen Mo was feeling puzzled—

a sudden shout came from the flat-headed youth.

”Watch out!”

A smaller-than-average Axew had been climbing around on Mo Yu’s shoulder. Not satisfied, it tried to climb onto her head.

But midway—

it slipped.

In a panic, it grabbed onto her hat—but still fell.

After rolling once—

one of its white tusks hit the ground first.

Crack.

The tusk snapped clean off.

A cry of pain burst from the Axew.

Mo Yu froze.

Ah Hui and the flat-headed youth froze.

Even the three resting Haxorus suddenly opened their eyes, their red gazes locking onto the scene.

[Oh no…]

[This isn’t Mo Yu’s fault though, right? The Axew climbed up by itself and fell…]

[Do you think the Haxorus parents will care about that explanation?]

[What terrible luck… finally found such a friendly Pokémon group and this happens…]

[Oh no, one of the Haxorus is coming over!]

In the camera view, a Haxorus strode forward with heavy steps, stopping right in front of them.

Mo Yu’s face showed clear panic.

Everyone—except one certain spectator enjoying the drama—felt disaster was imminent.

But then—

the Haxorus ignored Mo Yu completely and roared at the Axew on the ground.

”Nuoda!”

”Axew… Axew…”

”Nuoda! Nuoda nuoda!”

There was obvious disappointment in its eyes—like a parent scolding a child for being disappointing.

The little Axew looked utterly wronged.

It didn’t dare cry anymore.

Terrified, it instinctively hid behind Mo Yu.

”Nuoda!”

The Haxorus grew even angrier, its fierce expression terrifying to behold.

At least—that’s what the audience thought.

But the next moment—

the Haxorus stepped around Mo Yu, positioning itself directly in front of the Axew.

”Nuoda!”

”Axew!”

One big, one small—circling around Mo Yu like they were playing ring-around-the-rosy.

[This feels like when my mom chased me around the house as a kid…]

[Wait, what’s going on? Why isn’t Haxorus blaming Mo Yu? Why is it scolding Axew instead? Are Pokémon parents this rational?]

[I have no idea!]

[They’re literally doing laps around her—Mo Yu must be dizzy by now]

Indeed—

Mo Yu stood there, completely bewildered, watching them circle around her.

She hesitated, about to say something—

when a calm voice spoke first.

”Alright, alright, Haxorus.”

”Axew is still young. This is probably its first time losing a tusk—of course it doesn’t have experience yet.”

”No need to scold it so harshly.”

”It’ll get used to it after a few more times.”
