Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

BONUS CHAPTER

Because of their migration habits, the Butterfree swarm had already left Evergreen Forest. Just as Chen Mo was thinking about whether their group should also end this journey, the two Butterfree living near the flower field said their goodbyes first.

Late spring was drawing to a close, and the breath of summer was approaching.

Although they had left their original swarm, the Butterfree couple still had to think about finding their next suitable home.

Before leaving, the two Butterfree brought Ah Hui a special gift—a flower crown woven from blossoms of many different colors.

”Mii~”

The pink Butterfree fluttered in the air and gently placed the crown on Ah Hui’s head.

”Why…?”

Ah Hui looked completely flustered. He had never expected something like this to happen.

Chen Mo smiled beside him and translated.

”Butterfree says that Caterpie really likes you. They also believe you’ll take good care of it—and they hope that the next time you meet, Caterpie will have already evolved.”

The flower crown was the couple’s small token of appreciation after hearing the story between Ah Hui and Caterpie.

Ah Hui had never imagined he would one day receive a gift from Pokémon.

Deeply moved, he waved vigorously alongside Caterpie—whose eyes were filled with admiration—as they said goodbye to the two Butterfree.

”Mo-ge… suddenly I feel really reluctant to see them go.”

”I understand.”

”Mo-ge, do you think we’ll ever meet that pair of Butterfree again?”

”…”

Chen Mo chose not to respond to Ah Hui’s sentimental mood.

However, thinking about the unknown poachers that had recently appeared in Evergreen Forest, Chen Mo felt that the Butterfree migrating away—after their habitat had been revealed in the livestream—was actually a good thing.

After all, with official promotion, Chen Mo’s livestream had become increasingly popular.

Every time he went live, it firmly occupied the top spot on the platform.

In that situation, Chen Mo wouldn’t assume the worst about every viewer, but he also wasn’t naïve enough to believe everyone came purely to learn about Pokémon.

”…It’s time to head back.”

The series of incidents caused by the poachers had given Chen Mo a warning.

It was time to return and have a proper discussion with Professor Zhou and the others.

As for Chen Mo’s decision to leave Evergreen Forest, both Ah Hui and Brother Yi had no objections.

The next morning

Back at the Greenbank Riverside, after a good night’s rest, Chen Mo and the others began packing all their equipment into the off-road vehicle.

Pikachu also gave itself a day off.

Instead of dragging Haunter into more training, it sat under the warm morning sunlight with a bottle of ketchup and a sandwich, enjoying breakfast.

At that moment—

A column of electric light suddenly shot up near the riverbank.

Attracted by the flash, Pikachu hurried over with its unfinished food in its paws.

Down on the riverside, Electabuzz was locked in an intense battle with a Sawsbuck, while several Deerling stood nearby watching excitedly.

”So Electabuzz came back too…”

Chen Mo walked over at that moment and smiled faintly as he watched Electabuzz fighting seriously on the sandbank.

It was clear that Sawsbuck was deliberately sparring, guiding Electabuzz through techniques.

And when Chen Mo noticed the single Deerling cheering enthusiastically behind Electabuzz, he quickly understood what was going on.

He didn’t interrupt Electabuzz, who was striving to grow stronger.

Instead, he called over Haunter, asking it to hide its presence and quietly leave several spray potions near Electabuzz before they departed.

Meanwhile…

At the edge of Evergreen Forest.

Within a dense mist, Absol looked at the faint figure ahead with a somewhat dejected expression.

A voice as gentle as the northern wind sounded in Absol’s heart.

”I’m leaving.”

”I know…”

Absol hesitated.

”Lord Suicune… could I—”

Before finishing the sentence, Absol already realized the request it wanted to make was unrealistic.

Following Suicune everywhere was impossible.

Leaving aside whether it could keep up with Suicune’s speed—even if Suicune agreed, with its current strength it would only become a burden along the journey.

”Absol.”

”Yes, Lord Suicune.”

”In Evergreen Forest, Hydreigon will handle many crisis events. As for you, I have an idea I’d like to entrust to you—if you’re willing.”

”No problem. I’m willing.”

Even before hearing the task, Absol eagerly agreed.

Seeing this, Suicune smiled helplessly and said softly,

”I want to understand what changes are happening among humans in this world under the guidance of the Hero of Ideals.”

”If possible, I hope you can go to his side and witness the rest of humanity in this world together with him.”

The Legendary Beasts were originally messengers sent by Ho-Oh to observe humans, so Suicune’s interest in human changes was quite natural.

Absol hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement.

It had a good impression of that human—

The one who had defended Absol’s reputation at the tunnel, stood up for a Banette in Lavender Town, and even agreed to Absol’s unreasonable request.

If it was him—and if Lord Suicune said so—Absol could accept it.

Suicune looked at the thoughtful Absol with a gentle expression.

Of course, observing humans was only one reason.

The real reason Suicune wanted Absol to go to Chen Mo was because Suicune would not have much time to visit Absol in the future.

Leaving Absol alone in the forest worried Suicune.

But entrusting Absol to the Hero of Ideals made Suicune feel at ease.

The roar of an off-road vehicle echoed beside the Greenbank River.

Electabuzz, who had just finished its sparring match with Sawsbuck, immediately reacted to the sound.

Just as it was about to rush up the slope to take a look, it suddenly noticed something.

Not far behind on the riverbank lay a bright yellow blanket.

”Biri?”

This clearly belonged to that human.

After all, when Electabuzz first woke up at the campsite, its uncontrolled electricity had burned one of those blankets.

Curious, Electabuzz slowly approached.

Soon it discovered several strange bottles placed on the blanket.

Beneath them was a large sheet of paper.

Electabuzz pulled it out.

On it was a series of simple sketches:

First, a wounded Electabuzz.

Then a pair of hands holding a spray potion, applying it.

Finally, the injured Electabuzz recovering completely—raising its arms happily as electricity sparked around it.

Simple and easy to understand.

Even Electabuzz could understand it.

”Biri…”

Holding the drawing, Electabuzz stared at the spray potions on the blanket.

And fell into a long, silent contemplation. ⚡
