Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

”Absol, this will be your new home from now on.”

Hearing Chen Mo’s words, Absol nodded and curiously looked around at the villa in front of it.

Back when it lived in Chuanshu City, Absol had often seen all kinds of human buildings along the roadside.

But while traveling with Suicune, Absol had always tried to mediate the conflicts between humans and Pokémon. Because of that, it understood better than most just how much prejudice many humans in this world still held toward Pokémon.

So entering a human residence so openly like this was a first for Absol.

So this will be my new home…

Truthfully, Absol still preferred the life it once had in the forest.

But since it had already decided to help Lord Suicune observe humanity, it would not regret the choice.

Not very interested in the interior of the villa, Absol walked to the backyard and found a spot in the grass where it quietly lay down.

Its ruby-like eyes surveyed the surroundings.

Soon, it noticed a Magikarp in the nearby pond, hidden among thick aquatic plants and silently watching it.

”Absol…”

Why is there a Magikarp here?

Is it also that human’s Pokémon?

Facing Absol’s questioning gaze, Magikarp appeared calm on the surface.

After all, unlike Hu Chengliang—who was too busy to watch livestreams—Magikarp had followed Chen Mo’s entire journey home through the stream today. It already knew exactly how Absol ended up here.

Blocking the car halfway, then suddenly saying it wanted to follow Chen Mo…

To be honest, Magikarp didn’t have much goodwill toward Absol.

Hu Chengliang had shown it the emergency livestream from that night.

From Magikarp’s perspective, Chen Mo could have avoided all that danger—if not for Absol’s involvement.

The two Pokémon stared at each other for a long time.

Eventually, Magikarp flicked its tail lightly and disappeared back into the water plants, leaving Absol’s sight.

Meanwhile, Chen Mo filled Hu Chengliang in on some details that hadn’t appeared in the livestream.

After Absol appeared, Suicune had communicated with Chen Mo through telepathy, explaining the truth behind Absol’s arrival.

Faced with Suicune’s request, Chen Mo naturally agreed without hesitation.

After all, he genuinely liked this fluffy, righteous Absol.

”I see… so Suicune asked Absol to come find you. If that’s the case, then I’m relieved.”

Hu Chengliang nodded.

The reason he cared so much about Absol was mainly because of Suicune behind it.

As the first Legendary Pokémon humanity had personally contacted—and whose strength had been witnessed firsthand—the Response Bureau had held countless meetings about Suicune over the past two days.

For now, considering Suicune’s attitude toward humans, its immense strength, and the other Legendary Pokémon behind it, the bureau’s strategy was simple:

Build a good relationship with Suicune and move toward peaceful coexistence between humans and Pokémon.

Because of that, Hu Chengliang naturally wanted to clarify how Absol arrived here, just to avoid any misunderstandings.

”I’ll report Absol’s situation to my teacher. Don’t worry. It’s getting late—I should head back.”

Hu Chengliang spoke slowly.

Then he subconsciously glanced again at Absol resting in the backyard.

How should he put it…

During the livestream, he had seen Absol many times. Its cold and composed demeanor had left a deep impression.

But in person—especially when it had just gotten out of the car earlier—it felt a little… strange.

Seeing Hu Chengliang’s expression, Chen Mo sighed helplessly.

”Well… Absol doesn’t seem to like riding in cars very much. On the way back it was already getting pretty restless.”

”I see…”

Hu Chengliang continued asking,

”Then what will you do in the future? If that’s the case, Absol probably isn’t suitable for long-distance travel with you.”

”That’s true… but I’ll figure something out.”

Chen Mo said with a bit of a headache.

Honestly, he hadn’t expected Absol to have this issue.

But thinking about it, it made sense.

Given Absol’s size, squeezing into an off-road vehicle already carrying three people really was asking a lot.

As Chen Mo thought about it, he fell into contemplation.

With more and more Pokémon joining him, one off-road vehicle was no longer enough.

And there was also Pidgeotto.

If every trip required it to fly in the air the entire time just to keep up, that wasn’t very fair either.

Seeing Chen Mo’s troubled look, Hu Chengliang smiled.

”If you need anything, just let us know. If we can help, we’ll do our best.”

”Thanks, Brother Hu. I understand.”

The two chatted for a while.

Seeing that it was getting late, Hu Chengliang prepared to leave.

After all, now that Chen Mo had returned home, it wouldn’t be appropriate for him to continue staying here.

”Oh, right.”

Suddenly remembering something, Hu Chengliang turned back toward Chen Mo.

”Using the nutrition soup formulas you gave us last time, the Response Bureau has been developing some new Pokémon foods. From what I’ve seen, Magikarp seems to really like some of them. If you want, I can have someone deliver some tomorrow.”

”That’s a thing?”

Chen Mo, still thinking about other matters, didn’t think much and nodded immediately.

”Then thanks to you guys.”

”Mm…”

Hu Chengliang looked at Chen Mo.

After hesitating for a moment, he finally spoke slowly.

”I don’t know how you see us… but now that the new policies are in place, sometimes you could try relying on us a little more.”

”We were watching everything in Lavender Town and the Evergreen Forest crisis.”

”Peaceful coexistence between humans and Pokémon isn’t something you have to carry alone anymore.”

Those were Hu Chengliang’s honest feelings.

For a long time, he had felt that Chen Mo was a bit contradictory.

In the livestream, Chen Mo often said the world could only change through everyone’s collective effort.

But whenever real events happened, Chen Mo would always try to shoulder everything himself.

And Hu Chengliang also sensed something else—

When dealing with official organizations like the Response Bureau, Chen Mo always maintained a very high level of caution.

In their cooperation so far, Chen Mo had tried to keep everything strictly balanced.

For example, with the berries earlier.

After receiving the nutrition soup formula and a lot of valuable data, the bureau had originally planned to give Chen Mo berries for free.

But Chen Mo insisted on paying for them.

How should he describe it…

It wasn’t a bad thing.

But Hu Chengliang believed Chen Mo could try to trust them a little more.

Yes, there is evil in the world.

But at least on this land—

The world isn’t as terrible as you might think.
