”Hey, did you hear? Brother Ah Hui is taking people to Hongjingpo Forest today. I wonder what Pokémon they’ll run into—so exciting!”

”First, my name isn’t ’hey,’ I’m your brother. Second, you already told me this last night.”

”Hmph.”

At the breakfast table, the ponytailed girl in her blue-and-white school uniform snorted.

Ever since the flat-haired young man went to meet Ah Hui yesterday, the siblings’ relationship had improved a lot. They talked more now.

After hesitating for a moment, the girl turned her head, her big eyes filled with expectation.

”Can I go today—”

”Not a chance.”

The young man cut her off before she could finish.

”I know exactly what you’re thinking. Go to school properly. No skipping classes. And the forest is dangerous—what are you, a minor, doing joining in?”

”Hmph!”

The girl stood up unhappily.

”I’m done eating.”

”Then go. I’ll clean up.”

Without even looking up, the young man replied while checking the time on his phone.

The girl narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

”Why do you feel so weird today? And are you sure Ah Hui didn’t tell you about this?”

”...”

After confirming his sister had left for school, the young man quickly grabbed the travel backpack he had secretly prepared and called a taxi to the meeting point.

When he arrived—

More than ten young men and women, all around their early twenties, were gathered beside a bus, chatting around Ah Hui at the center.

Seeing him, Ah Hui’s eyes lit up.

”Haoran! Over here!”

Since he knew he was one of the last to arrive, Haoran immediately said:

”Sorry, sorry—I’m late. Had something to deal with at home.”

”No worries, still ten minutes left.”

”Yeah, yeah—what’s your name, bro? Since you’re Hui-ge’s friend and into Pokémon, wanna join our group? Everyone there is talented and speaks nicely—you won’t regret it!”

”Hey, don’t scare him off right away!”

Everyone laughed.

They were all young and outgoing, so Haoran quickly blended in.

Soon, the group began excitedly discussing what they might encounter in Hongjingpo Forest.

Their eyes sparkled with anticipation.

”This time I have to catch a Pidgey. Ever since I saw Mo-bao riding Pidgeotto in the stream, I’ve been hooked!”

”Pidgey is gentle, good for beginners—but have you thought about something?”

”Yeah, does Hongjingpo even still have wild Pidgey?”

”Hahaha exactly! The whole Pidgey flock got moved to Anping for delivery work. No Pidgey—just a bunch of Spearow. Want one?”

”Actually, the forest’s big—there might still be some. But based on our planned route… yeah, probably just Spearow.”

Because of safety concerns, they had already agreed to follow Chen Mo’s previous exploration route.

Pokémon tend to stay within certain territories.

Following Chen Mo’s path meant:

Higher chance of encountering familiar PokémonLower risk overall

”Alright, time’s up.”

Ah Hui clapped his hands.

”Before we go, I need to say this again.”

”Even though we’re all Mo-ge’s fans—when it comes to catching Pokémon, stay gentle.”

”Don’t act impulsively.”

”Different Pokémon have different personalities. Don’t assume every individual matches what Mo-ge described about the species.”

”If it doesn’t work, move on.”

”Even if we fail today, we can try again later.”

”But no matter what—stay calm.”

”Got it, Hui-ge!”

”Yeah, we won’t mess around.”

”I brought fresh fruit—maybe I can attract one like Mo-bao did.”

”Same here! I even brought ketchup!”

”Trying to lure a Pichu, huh? Good luck—Mo-bao only found one ever.”

”Haha, I don’t care what I get—even a Caterpie would be fine!”

Ah Hui’s face darkened.

”Caterpie is great, okay? Don’t treat it like a last resort.”

Everyone burst out laughing.

Truthfully, though—

No one was confident they could actually catch a Pokémon.

Even Chen Mo sometimes got rejected.

How could they succeed with just some food?

After all—

Not every Pokémon is like Pichu (lol).

”Don’t worry.”

Ah Hui suddenly said.

”Pokémon eat regular fruit, but from what I learned—berries work much better.”

”I brought some. I’ll hand them out.”

As the leader, he didn’t want everyone to return empty-handed.

So he had contacted Yi-ge beforehand and bought a batch of Oran Berries.

”Bro I love you!”

”Waiting for Hui-ge to come back before going was the best decision ever!”

”This blue one is Oran Berry, right?”

For many of them, this was their first time seeing berries in real life.

”Can I try one?”

”Of course.”

As Ah Hui handed them out, several people immediately took a bite.

”Hmm… kinda bitter.”

”A little spicy too?”

”Strange taste—but not bad.”

Haoran stepped slightly to the back.

Unlike the others, he wasn’t here to catch a Pokémon.

He just wanted to observe them up close.

He wasn’t ready to raise one yet.

That’s why he hadn’t told his sister—

because he knew she definitely wanted one.

”Here, Haoran—this is yours.”

Ah Hui handed him a bag.

”I—”

”Take it.”

Ah Hui smiled.

”Mo-ge said meeting a Pokémon is fate.”

”What if you meet one you like and miss the chance?”

”Don’t regret it later.”

Before Haoran could refuse, Ah Hui moved on.

”…Sigh.”

Looking at the Oran Berries in his hand, Haoran sighed.

After a moment, curiosity got the better of him.

He took a bite.

His brow furrowed—

No sweetness.

But the complex mix of flavors created something strangely pleasant.

Not bad at all.

No wonder Pokémon liked them.

Just as his expression softened—

He suddenly smelled a faint fragrance.

Then a clear, curious voice sounded beside him:

”Oran Berry, huh? Is it tasty?”

The group froze.

Because—

Until now, everyone here had been guys.

So this sudden female voice stood out immediately.

Haoran turned his head.

A girl about 1.6 meters tall stood there.

Short hair.

Gray casual clothes.

Black baseball cap.

She looked around curiously.

”Is it good?”

she asked again.

Haoran paused, then nodded.

”Want to try?”

”Thanks~”

She took the berry and ate it quickly.

”Yeah, weird—but good!”

Only then did she notice everyone staring at her.

She lightly tapped her head.

”Ah—sorry! I’m late.”

”I ran into a cute kitten on the way and couldn’t resist playing with it.”

”I thought you’d already left—guess I got lucky today!”

Someone asked:

”You from the group?”

She nodded.

”Yep! My username is Mo Yu.”

”That’s also my real name—so just call me that.”

Meanwhile…

On the other side of Anping City—

Chen Mo had just finished a light morning training session.

Since he planned to visit Hongjingpo Forest today, he began packing.

”Karp, Absol—you two stay home and watch the house.”

”Try not to burn it down.”

He decided to leave Absol behind due to its discomfort with vehicles.

Today’s team:

PikachuPidgeottoGastly

Just as he was about to leave—

He suddenly remembered something.

”…I forgot to post the stream announcement.”

He logged into his account and posted it.

Then opened his fan group—

Only to find someone had already shared it.

[HOLY—Mo-bao is streaming today! Hongjingpo Forest!]

[The pigeon finally remembered his password.]

[Wait… Hongjingpo Forest today?]

[Yeah, why?]

[BRO—Hui-ge’s group is going there too.]

[???????]

A coincidence.

Or something more.

Either way—

Things were about to get interesting.
