Chapter 1190: Chapter 1189: Communication Is Meaningless

After all, it was just a dream. In fact, once the girls finished breakfast, most of them had already forgotten the strange dream.

This is usually how dreams are; perhaps you can remember some specific scenes right after waking up, but by the time you’re washing your face, brushing your teeth, having breakfast, and planning to tell your friends about it, you mostly can’t remember it anymore.

So after breakfast, the girls put their thoughts aside and resumed focus on their main mission.

However, Fang Zheng offered a suggestion for this.

Since this world has Magical Girls, there must also be things that fight against Magical Girls. Therefore, if we find these things, finding the Magical Girls will only be a matter of time. Following this idea, the five Magical Girls were sent out by Fang Zheng to scatter around the city and look for places that seemed strange.

As for what kind of places look strange?

Only the Magical Girls would know that.

Although they are Magical Girls from Another World, at the very least they’re still Magical Girls, and aren’t Magical Girls more likely to encounter creatures?

Unfortunately... their plan was forced to abort just as it started.

The reason for this is quite simple.

This world, despite being a parallel world’s Earth, is still Earth, and still Japan.

More importantly, it’s still school time.

Thus, the Magical Girls, eager to go looking for enemies on the streets, first encountered the problem of—police.

Yes, during school hours when it’s not a rest day, a group of young girls idling aimlessly in the streets rather than being in class, doesn’t that raise suspicion?

Especially since they’re not even wearing school uniforms?

Thus, the girls were soon stopped by police officers, both male and female, for questioning.

”What are your names?”

”Why aren’t you in school?”

”Where do you live?”

”Did something happen? Do you need help?”

..... And so the Magical Girls had no choice but to flee back to their base for refuge.

What else could they do? They couldn’t very well unleash a Starlight Burst on these civil servants.

In the end, reluctantly, the girls decided to go out searching after school hours in this world, and stay obediently in base the rest of the time, or risk being caught by the police again and possibly locked up.

Fortunately, although the girls stayed in the warehouse all day, nothing unusual happened. But after all, it makes sense; most Magical Girls are students and have to attend classes. If you were to be attacked frequently during the day, then how could they possibly attend classes? Skipping classes and failing would be an issue!

However, as night fell, both Fang Zheng and Shisei soon discovered unknown fluctuating targets they were searching for on the screens.

Except the two fluctuations, one was to the east and the other to the west...

”Illya and Little Hei, go east. Nanoha, Fate, and Little Sakura, go west.”

Fang Zheng quickly made the decision, and the Magical Girls, stifled all day, were eager, swiftly deploying—this time, with the cover of darkness, they no longer needed to run on the streets and could transform directly then fly swiftly to their destinations.

The first to arrive at the destination were Nanoha’s group of three.

”It’s here!”

Landing on the ground, the three curiously looked around. It was an abandoned factory, with no one around. Yet, for some reason, it gave them an unsettling feeling.

”I think there’s something strange about this place... there’s a very uncomfortable aura.”

”Me too...”

While Nanoha and Little Sakura carefully observed their surroundings, they cautiously approached the factory. At this moment, Fate abruptly sensed something, swiftly stepping before the two, raising her right hand. Soon, a golden barrier emerged from Fate’s hand.

”Clang!!”

At the same time, a red long spear suddenly thrust forward, slamming into Fate’s magic barrier, then quickly rebounded.

”Who goes there? Show yourself!”

Gripping her Thunder Axe tightly, Fate stared coldly at the distant shadow. Then, a somewhat lazy voice responded.

”Hey, I didn’t expect someone would arrive here before me.”

Along with the voice, a girl with a single red ponytail, munching on a taiyaki, stepped out from the shadows. In her other hand, she held a long spear.

”Still just kids...”

Looking at the three in front of her, the red-haired ponytail girl frowned, finishing the taiyaki with one bite.

”I thought that guy wouldn’t be this disgusting... but oh well, you know, even if you’ve come here, it doesn’t really matter? Because here is only a Familiar Spirit, not a Witch. You need to wait until it eats four or five people to become a Witch.”

”Eat people?!”

Hearing what the girl said, Nanoha, Fate, and Little Sakura were shocked.

”Do the creatures here eat people?”

”Of course, isn’t it obvious? You guys didn’t know? I can’t imagine how you became Magical Girls...”

”Since it’s a man-eating Creature, we can’t just leave it be!”

Thinking of this, Nanoha resolved.

”Fate, Little Sakura, let’s also go and eliminate that creature called Familiar Spirit!”

”Okay!”

Hearing Nanoha, both Fate and Little Sakura nodded, then quickly turned to run towards the abandoned factory.

”Swish—!”

But at this moment, that long spear suddenly flew out again, ”Boom” slammed in front of Nanoha, blocking her way. In the next moment, the red-haired ponytail girl appeared again.

”Hey, didn’t I say? There’s no benefit in killing that thing now. Wait until it becomes a Witch at least before finishing it off!”

”But, according to what you said, that creature called Familiar Spirit will hurt people, won’t it?”

Little Sakura voiced uneasily.

”Shouldn’t we protect others?”

”Protect others?”

Listening to Little Sakura, the red-haired ponytail girl sneered.

”Little kids are so naive, haven’t you learned about the food chain in school? Survival of the fittest is the rule of this world, Witches eat humans, and we Magical Girls eat Witches... That’s the correct way. If the chicken doesn’t turn into a Witch, you can’t get the Seed of Lament, so why kill the chicken before it lays eggs?”

”What...?”

Hearing this, Nanoha, Fate, and Little Sakura were stunned. They never expected to hear such cold-hearted words from a Magical Girl!

”So, you mean we should stand by and let the Familiar Spirits harm humans?”

”They deserve it, because they are weak, they’re meant to be eaten. That’s the truth of this world.”

The red-haired ponytail girl smirked, waving her hand.

”Consider this some advice from big sis to you. There’s still time, withdraw early.”

”.....”

Hearing this, the three exchanged looks, then Nanoha stepped forward, bravely facing the red-haired ponytail girl.

”Honestly, big sis, I don’t understand what you mean. I don’t know what the Seed of Lament is, nor the Familiar Spirits, but I know I want to protect others from harm... I want to understand why big sis doesn’t do the same, is the thing called the Seed of Lament really so important to you? Important enough that you would watch innocents be harmed without a care?”

”......”

Upon hearing Nanoha’s questioning, the red-haired ponytail girl’s expression grew much colder. She devoured the remaining taiyaki in one gulp and spun her long spear abruptly. The next moment, the sharp spear tip was poised right at Nanoha’s throat.

”Nanoha!”

Seeing this, both Little Sakura and Fate cried out. Nanoha, however, did not turn around, she simply raised her Heart of the Rising Sun in silence.

”I’ll stop her. Little Sakura, Nanoha, I’ll leave the Familiar Spirit in the factory to you!”

”Okay!”

They nodded at Nanoha’s words. Fate and Little Sakura then quickly turned and rushed into the old factory. Watching this, the red-haired ponytail girl displayed an angry smirk.

”Still playing the hero partner game? How foolish. Magical Girls aren’t all that naive!”

”This is why I want to know what kind of Magical Girl you really are.” Nanoha said as she raised her Heart of the Rising Sun, gazing at her opponent.

”Can’t we talk this through?”

”There’s nothing to discuss with someone as green as you. Seems like I need to cool that head of yours!”

As the red-haired ponytail girl spoke, the mood shifted, and, with a sharp sound of something slashing through the air, she hurled her long spear, blocking Nanoha and the others. The next moment, she made her appearance once more, her expression turning icy with anger.
