Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1174: Chapter 1173: Firepower Is Masayuki

At first glance, this seems like a decision Fang Zheng made on a whim (though it is indeed the case), but Fang Zheng also thought it over before deciding to incorporate it.

The reason is the Mid-style magic attack.

This kind of magic attack can destroy objects without causing serious harm to life (of course, mental trauma is another matter). You see, this is something that can only exist in this world. After all, if you were to claim a ”magic that can instantly vaporize a building but won’t kill humans,” people from another world might look at you as if you’re an idiot.

And now, with such a good thing at hand, Fang Zheng naturally wouldn’t use it for nothing.

The reason for choosing spell cards is, on one hand, Fang Zheng wants to pay homage, and on the other hand, it’s a decision he reached after studying Mid magic.

When helping Nanoha create the ”Starlight Burst” magic, Fang Zheng realized that the magic devices in this world are largely equivalent to some sort of program, only executing according to the original plan. If you want features like automatic locking and tracking, the caster needs to focus to manipulate it.

However, this is very wasteful. Take the duel between Fate and Nanoha in the original story, for example. Nanoha thought of this manipulation trick, planning to catch Fate off guard, but was noticed by Fate, who dodged the bullet, and then used a Thunder Spear to blow Nanoha away.

Yet Nanoha did not dodge Fate’s Thunder Spear.

This clearly illustrates the problem. Manipulative spells consume the caster’s energy, while Fate’s Thunder Spear did not involve tracking but easily hit Nanoha due to its speed, leaving Nanoha no time to react.

The saying goes, ’Only speed cannot be defeated in martial arts,’ which is about the same reason.

But this is far from enough.

In contrast, spell cards are much simpler. Their greatest advantage is strong firepower, broad coverage, and no blind spots in three hundred and sixty degrees. More importantly, spell cards belong to automatic activation mode, allowing you to use your own methods to fight simultaneously upon activation. For instance, when Little Sakura faces an enemy, she can activate a spell card for firepower bombardment while using Clow Cards to attack the enemy.

Moreover, with the help of spell cards, magical girls can now compete with airborne weapons like fighter jets.

Of course, the spell card system also has deficiencies.

After all, this is not the original version, but rather something Fang Zheng ”knocked off” based on his impression of the original, so the Mid-style magic spell card has several flaws.

Firstly, it requires a considerable amount of magic power to activate, which is normal, considering a spell card must run for a long time, even several minutes. Given the quantity and quality of beams, rays, and magic bullets triggered during spell card activation, the required magic power is certainly substantial.

Fortunately, this drawback is not without remedy. Magical girls can entirely inject their remaining magic power into spell cards at the end of the day for storage. After all, magical girls don’t fight daily, so if there’s no battle, the day’s magic power is wasted, right?

So instead, they might as well inject it into spell cards for storage, ensuring the magic power isn’t wasted while gradually training and enhancing their magic power reserve—essentially killing two birds with one stone.

Secondly, there is the performance of the spell card itself regarding bullet patterns and intensity. Fang Zheng does not plan to plagiarize the bullet patterns of the spell cards from his memory. Instead, apart from designing a few for his own use, he plans to hand over the rest of the spell cards to these girls, allowing them to create according to their ideas, experiences, and wishes.

In Fang Zheng’s impression, each spell card represents and symbolizes its user, so it’s better to let these girls create their own...

Of course, Fang Zheng is very much looking forward to seeing what kind of fireworks these girls will create for themselves.

Although Fang Zheng’s requirements are peculiar, luckily, he isn’t the type to give demands without acting; in fact, he just mentioned it to Precia as a focus for upcoming research and development, then opened his personal terminal and started ”click-clacking” away.

But......

”Currently, we don’t have good enough materials for making magic devices.”

Precia, being focused on creating a magic device for Elysia while looking towards Fang Zheng with some worry. Despite being a scholar and researcher, Precia can tackle issues related to design, installation, and control. However, when it comes to raw materials, Precia is clueless.

It’s like an engineer of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier; designing one makes no problem, and explaining the assembly is assured. But asking them to smelt the steel used for the carrier might lead them to directly use a wrench to clobber you.

Precia uses materials she accumulated during her time in the Space-Time Courtyard, stocked before her darkening. They’re sufficient for manually crafting a couple of magic devices, but asking Precia to research an entire production line from scratch would be too much for her.

”Do you have any information on the production of Mid-style magic devices?”

”No, it’s all military secrets.”

True enough.

Upon hearing Precia’s answer, Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders. Constructing a submarine; a civilian built submarine will definitely lag in quality compared to a military factory.

But it doesn’t matter... If he estimates correctly, it won’t be long before he finds a way to get these things.

In fact, they came even sooner than Fang Zheng imagined.

”Beep———”

Just as Fang Zheng was modifying the Heart of the Rising Sun and Thunder Axe, a sudden, piercing alert sounded. Immediately, the screen flashed, displaying the boundless cosmos and several warships glowing with radiance.

”So they’ve come.”

Fang Zheng glanced at the screen, pursing his lips. Precia also curiously looked at the screen, her expression changing slightly.

”This is...”

”It should be the fleet of the Space-Time Bureau. I suspected they would come, but I didn’t expect them to arrive so quickly.”

Fang Zheng put down what he was working on, clapped his hands, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly. After sending Lindy and others away, he had placed several Star Spirit detectors in the Solar System, waiting for the Space-Time Bureau to show up. Although Fang Zheng knew the two sides would definitely come to blows, at least... you can’t fight in the Earth-Moon space.

If people on this world’s Earth saw this, what would it mean?

But now it seems, the other side seems to think the same.

”Connect the communication.”

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng clapped his hands again, issuing an order. Soon, the screen in front of him flickered a few times and a bearded man wearing a hat appeared on the screen.

”This is the territory of the Heavenly Dao Palace. Has your Space-Time Bureau come from the Beggars’ Sect? You have no manners at all, entering our territorial range without even a greeting, sneaking in like thieves—is that amusing?”

Looking at the bearded man before him, Fang Zheng spoke immediately before the man could speak, drawing a wave of hostility. Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, the bearded man’s expression also darkened.

”We are the Fifth Fleet directly under the Dimensional Headquarters of the Space-Time Bureau, here to arrest the Space-Time Bureau’s wanted criminal, Precia Testarossa, and we hope you can cooperate.”

Upon hearing this, Precia could not help but stand up, looking anxiously at the screen. As a former Mid person, she naturally knew what it meant to be pursued by the fleet directly under the Dimensional Headquarters of the Space-Time Bureau.

However, Fang Zheng signaled for Precia to remain calm, then continued to look at the bearded man in front of him.

”I remember I have informed Admiral Lindy. Precia Testarossa is currently under the management of our Heavenly Dao Palace. Don’t you know?”

”Precia Testarossa is a Level One felon!”

The bearded man clearly did not intend to waste more words with Fang Zheng.

”We received orders and must take her back! Please do not obstruct our duty.”

”This place is not your Space-Time Bureau’s backyard.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng sat up straight, coldly glaring at the screen in front of him.

”You have no right to enforce the Space-Time Bureau’s laws here. I’ll say it again: disregarding the warning and trespassing into our Heavenly Dao Palace’s territory constitutes an act of intrusion. If you do not leave immediately, we will handle your actions according to intrusion laws.”

”If you do this, you are making an enemy of the Space-Time Bureau.”

The bearded man clearly was not intimidated by Fang Zheng’s warning. He raised his head, looking at Fang Zheng with contempt.

”You have no idea what kind of power our Space-Time Bureau possesses! And soon, you will witness our true strength firsthand.”

After saying this, the bearded man closed the communication.

”Master, what should we do now?”

Hearing the conversation between the two sides, Precia now began to panic, but Fang Zheng merely waved his hand dismissively.

”No need to worry, Precia. Like I said, the minor issue with the Space-Time Bureau is for me to handle... And don’t tell Fate and Nanoha about this, so they don’t worry.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng casually swiped in front of him and tapped a few times. Soon, the system information of the Dimensional Codex appeared before Fang Zheng.

[You will declare war against the ’Space-Time Bureau’ faction of the Free World. After declaring war, you will automatically enter war mode.]

[Declare war?]

Looking at the inquiry before him, Fang Zheng leisurely picked up a teacup, took a sip of black tea, then reached out his hand.

”Yes.”
