Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 850: Chapter 849: There’s More Than One Here......

The cultist who was unconscious on the ground at this moment was the same old farmer who had greeted Fina earlier. At this moment, his eyes were tightly shut, and he was completely unaware, clearly having lost consciousness entirely. Fang Zheng turned over the other two, and it could be seen that they too were villagers from the village. Fang Zheng vaguely remembered having seen them before, though they had never spoken.

So next, let me take a good look at the true identity of this Rand.

With this in mind, Fang Zheng once again summoned the ”Ratziel” and then looked at the old man in front of him. Soon, lines of writing quickly appeared on the snow-white pages.

”...... Rand Joseph is a member of the Doomsday Church, he came here with a hidden identity, secretly spreading plague, trying to create an undead horror......”

Indeed.

Looking at the intelligence that emerged from the pages, Fang Zheng nodded, but just as he was about to close the pages, suddenly, another line appeared below.

”...... Rand Joseph is an honest old farmer, living a life of sunrise to sunset in the village every day, but such an old man unfortunately got caught up in the cultist’s conspiracy, infected with the plague, and died in fear, then turned into a ghoul......”

”...... ???”

What’s going on?

Looking at the two completely contradictory accounts, Fang Zheng was baffled. What’s happening here? How could this old man be both a victim and a perpetrator? How does this even work?

However, just as Fang Zheng was puzzled, a new record appeared.

”...... Rand Joseph is an unfortunate pathetic soul, orphaned from a young age, growing up lonely, yet this did not diminish his enthusiasm for life......”

”...... Rand Joseph is a retired old soldier, who once fought enemies fiercely on the battlefield, but now can only drag his disabled body to live alone here......”

”...... Rand Joseph is a noble descendant, he......”

What’s all this?

If Fang Zheng didn’t know that ”Ratziel” was an angel, he would have suspected that it was infected with a virus. Fang Zheng just wanted intelligence on Rand, but this creepy angel somehow dug up a bunch of Rand Joseph’s intelligence, and the scary thing was these reports were contradictory and full of loopholes.

It’s not just Rand. The two people beside him are also like this. At first, they were said to be cultists, then turned into victims. Previously described as serious and earnest, in the next paragraph, they became flirtatious and lecherous...... In short, this series of reports made Fang Zheng’s head hurt terribly........

”Pa.”

Finally, Fang Zheng closed the ”Ratziel” and put it away. Although he didn’t know what was going on, it was certain that ”Ratziel” was like infected with a virus here, completely unusable. Fang Zheng had tried to get the answer directly through the omniscient angel, but...... ”Ratziel” had no answer at all.

It seems you shouldn’t trust your angel too much.

Putting away ”Ratziel,” Fang Zheng shook his head. He had already realized that there was definitely something very wrong here, but what exactly was not yet known because the Main World has many bizarre things, many of which can resist the search of ”Ratziel.”

Now, it seems that this is not just a simple case of ordinary cultists attempting to create terror.

After this, Fang Zheng used the spell ”Thought Theft” on Rand. From Rand’s memory, Fang Zheng learned that Rand was indeed a cultist, and he was indeed the one spreading the plague in the village. However, as for why he did it, Rand himself didn’t know. He was just a low-level disciple, doing whatever he was told, and the reasons were none of his concern.

If that’s the case, then we must go find the mastermind to get to the bottom of this.

”Let’s go, keep moving forward.”

Through ”Thought Theft,” Fang Zheng also learned from Rand’s mind that there was a secret base of the cultists in this canyon. So he immediately stood up, leading the other three along the mountain path to continue forward.

The path in the canyon was not easy to travel on, and could even be considered somewhat rugged, but of course, this was nothing to Fang Zheng’s group. It didn’t take them long to find a cave located deep in the canyon, and at the entrance, two cultists dressed in black robes stood motionless, obviously on guard patrol.

”Walnut, you and Fina keep an eye on the surroundings. Kurumi, you left, me right, no need to leave anyone alive.”

”Understood, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s order, Kurumi smiled and nodded, quickly blending into the shadows.

Soon, the guard on the left hadn’t even had a chance to react when dozens of arms suddenly emerged from the shadow beneath his feet, grabbing his throat and body fiercely, pinning this cultist guard to the stone wall. Before he could struggle, one of the hands suddenly exerted force, instantly snapping the cultist guard’s throat. The unlucky guy didn’t even have time to let out a scream before swallowing his last breath.

”Well done.”

As the cultist guard fell, Fang Zheng also withdrew the giant sword in his hand, letting the other fool, whose head had been chopped off, fall with a loud thud. The two then glanced at each other and smiled slightly.

”Onward.”

Strictly speaking, the combat power of these Doomsday cultists is not very poor. They all carry scimitars and crossbows coated with poison. They could give regular soldiers a hard time. But for Fang Zheng and Kurumi, these Doomsday cultists were clearly not up to par. It was like cutting through melons and vegetables, as they directly killed all the cultists lurking and patrolling the path.

Those who tried to sound the alarm or escape were not spared from Fang Zheng’s time confinement. Therefore, for the four of them, this journey was quite smooth, and they quickly reached a cave at the end.

”It seems this is their secret stronghold.”

Hiding behind a stalagmite, Fang Zheng carefully watched below, muttering to himself. In the center below the entire cave was a massive furnace made of white skeleton bones, and under the furnace, a blazing fire roared. Five Doomsday disciples dressed in robes knelt around the furnace, with only one advanced disciple in a bright red robe standing there, praying loudly.

”We are willing to offer our blood, our flesh, everything of ourselves. Great Lord, if you hear my call, please have mercy on me, grant me that supreme glory!”

”Hoo----------!!”

As the voice of the advanced disciple fell, in the next moment, Fang Zheng and the others saw the flames on the furnace suddenly erupt. Following that, a small glass vial emerged from the flames, landing in the hands of the advanced disciple.

”Oh......oh oh oh...!!”

Looking at the small vial in front of him, the advanced disciple almost wept with joy. He reached out to take off his hood, closed his eyes, and respectfully kissed the small vial in his hand.

”Ah, thank you, my Lord, thank you for your gift......”

”Eh?”

”Hmm?”

However, when Fang Zheng and the others saw the true face of the advanced disciple, almost everyone couldn’t help but widen their eyes.

The reason was no other than that this advanced disciple in the red robe was none other than Uncle Rand, whom Fang Zheng had knocked down earlier.
