Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 838: Chapter 837: It’s Still Better Than Being Illiterate

Fang Zheng certainly knew the situation on the UNSC side, but he didn’t plan to establish too deep a connection with the UNSC because this was an assistance mission, and after completing the mission, Fang Zheng would leave this world. So, he couldn’t engage in too deep communication with the UNSC, and under this premise, wasting time was obviously not a good choice either.

Therefore, Fang Zheng had already decided that unless the Chief Officer encountered danger again, he wouldn’t appear before the UNSC.

Right now, Fang Zheng was following Nymph to package and classify the Forerunner’s intelligence data, confirming what was usable, what could be used, and what was useless...

Originally, Fang Zheng thought that if he could comprehend Forerunner technology with his own ability, then he’d really be the best in the world. However, he only read less than two lines of the Forerunner’s construction system outline on cosmic orbital space... and realized he was just slightly better than illiterate.

The slightly better level is where he could recognize the words, but when put together, he didn’t know what they meant.

It seems Fang Zheng shouldn’t expect to become a scientist in this lifetime... fortunately, he never thought about becoming a scientist when he was young.

Originally, Fang Zheng hoped to regain some feeling from programming, but he was horrified to find out that if he continued, he might forget everything he learned in his past life...

This shows that learning is inherently a step-by-step process, and wanting to leap to the top in one go is impossible.

As for the Forerunner’s art and music, Fang Zheng felt like it was the same as looking at Egyptian Pyramid murals; foreign and interesting, but this kind of thing is better left to them to handle.

The only thing Fang Zheng found interesting was the Forerunner’s literary novels. Fang Zheng was very curious to see what a Forerunner novel was like, so he picked what Nymph described as the Forerunner society’s best-selling novel. The entire novel had a grand background, telling the story of a wealthy Forerunner falling in love with a poor girl Forerunner. They met, got to know each other, and fell in love. However, the girl Forerunner later discovered that the wealthy Forerunner’s family was her father’s killer, so she left him in tears.

At that time, the girl Forerunner was already pregnant with the wealthy Forerunner’s child. Eventually, she gave birth to the child and died of illness afterward.

The young Forerunner grew up with scorn from everyone after losing his mother. Then, by chance, this young Forerunner stumbled into the Pioneer’s relic and obtained the mysterious technology left by the Pioneer, becoming the inheritor of the Pioneer’s legacy. Finally, the young Forerunner tried to avenge his mother, recruiting an entire legion fleet to attack the wealthy Forerunner’s planet. The two sides were locked in a fierce battle, and eventually, the young Forerunner successfully crushed the wealthy Forerunner’s fleet, leveraging the Pioneer’s gift to charge into the wealthy Forerunner’s palace.

Just when the young Forerunner was about to kill the wealthy Forerunner, his girlfriend suddenly jumped out to stop him—it turned out his girlfriend was the daughter of the wealthy Forerunner’s later wife!

At this moment, the wealthy Forerunner fully confessed his identity to the young man.

”I’m your father!!”

”No!!”

”......”

After reading this novel, Fang Zheng remarked that it seems like the aesthetic view of literary works is similar across civilizations, regardless of their level. This plot was exactly the same!

Moreover, instead of letting the one’s own Earth web novel authors write this, it would definitely be better!

So Fang Zheng finally found something in which they surpass the Forerunners... Hmm, it must be like this!

”Ya ya ya!”

When Fang Zheng casually tossed aside the Forerunner-written ”Star-Crossed Love,” Little Fire Dragon came running over, leaping into Fang Zheng’s arms like a little dog, rolling around and rubbing its head against Fang Zheng’s cheek, while Fang Zheng patted Little Fire Dragon on the head.

The little thing, although not as fluffy and comfortable to touch as a little kitten, was quite fun. In the past, Fang Zheng couldn’t understand the kind of thinking involved in keeping reptiles like lizards or snakes, but now he understood somewhat.

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng casually picked up a can of soda from the table next to him, then looked up at the nearby command center. There, dozens of Fleet Girls were seated, each quickly transmitting various data and information on a screen in front of her. Not just the intelligence here, at present, Fang Zheng’s Sea Mist Fleet had already taken control of three Shield Worlds and five ”Auras.”

In reality, the Misty Seas had discovered more Forerunner relics, but some were either infected by Hongmo or served as Hongmo prisons. When encountering such situations, Fang Zheng typically instructed the Sea Mist to bypass them... While they were here to loot graves, they should not release the things inside to cause trouble.

And what Fang Zheng wanted was also very specific, from materials to theories, from production equipment to weapon manufacturing, essentially acquiring everything an industrialized nation would need first. As for something like ”How to Make 100 Billion Star Coins in Five Years” or ”Forerunner Health Recipes,” those could be tossed out.

Oh, and that ”Forerunner Girl Photo Book” magazine, what were they photographing in there! Those damned Forerunners, each one looking like Voldemort, yet they shot erotic photo books? Are they looking down on us Earthlings? This is like Animal Planet, I’m not watching it even if they don’t censor it!

As a Paladin, Fang Zheng, of course, wouldn’t allow such degenerate things to poison the young girls in his Heavenly Dao Palace, so he ordered Nymph to delete them all... just kidding!

Simply deleting them couldn’t relieve Fang Zheng’s resentment, so he ordered Nymph to overlay those damned ”erotic readings” onto the Forerunner’s tech data. In the future, whether it’s the Star Alliance or the UNSC, they would have to see a segment of Forerunner ”photo books” to interpret Forerunner technology!

If we’re going down, we’re going down together!

Of course, these were minor issues. Since he couldn’t learn Forerunner technology, Fang Zheng gave up on improving his technological rank and began focusing entirely on the Missionary. This guy had no idea there was an invisible scout ship tailing him, and after realizing he couldn’t handle the Sea Mist Fleet, the Missionary took the remaining Star Alliance warships to another Shield World, dove in, and had no further reaction.

Even Leander didn’t know what he was doing, but at least according to space fluctuations, the Missionary hadn’t performed a space jump but was hiding inside.

Fang Zheng had a slightly bad feeling about this, so he planned to go check it out personally.

Originally, Fang Zheng intended to call the Chief Officer, but he thought better of it. Fang Zheng planned to seize the Forerunner’s Ship of Inheritance because, according to Nymph’s calculations and analyses, the ”Recombination Device” he had retrieved was just a core firing system. Without a power supply and host connection, it was just a display piece for scaring people; it was out of the question for actual combat.

That’s why UNSC researchers had fiddled with this thing for so long without digitalizing themselves because they couldn’t activate the Recombination Device...

And to make the Recombination Device work, he needed the launch and connection systems on the Ship of Inheritance, so Fang Zheng also intended to seize this warship.

If the Chief Officer came along, there would be no way he could get that ship... oh, considering the Chief Officer’s previous antics, this Shield World might not survive!

Since Nymph and Iona were busy absorbing Forerunner technology, this time Fang Zheng was heading solo with Little Fire Dragon to that Shield World.

He wanted to try a secret infiltration mission!

Only...

”Hiss... this place is really cold...”

Hiding in the asteroid belt, looking at the mechanical planet not far away, already transformed into Time Dragon form, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but shrink back a bit.

It’s often said that space is cold, but he didn’t expect it to be this cold, almost like venturing into Black Dragon River covered in ice and snow! Even as part of the Dragon Race, Fang Zheng couldn’t quite handle it.

”Ya ya...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s complaint, Little Fire Dragon peeked out from his embrace, curiously looking at Fang Zheng, who reached out with a claw to pat its head—by the Lord, he almost instinctively wanted to stick out his tongue to lick Little Fire Dragon just now.

This dragon transformation has some habits that are really hard to adapt to all at once.

Although Fang Zheng can act in a vacuum, there is still an important problem at hand.

According to Future Sight, Fang Zheng could detect that this mechanical planet’s exterior is full of warning signals, and he realized anything getting close would immediately trigger alarms. And due to the entire Shield World being sealed off, he couldn’t use Unsealing Master or teleportation spells to enter directly.

So now... how should he get in?
