Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 824: Chapter 823: Weapons Without a Good Feel Are Just Trash!!

The sword light flickered.

Fang Zheng merely swung the longsword in his hand, and the next moment he appeared in front of the Star Alliance warriors. Facing this human who suddenly appeared before them, the aliens were clearly a bit stupefied. Soon, Fang Zheng saw those gnome-like aliens screaming as they turned and fled, while at the same time, the gnoll-like aliens raised their shields to block in front and aimed their guns at Fang Zheng with the other hand.

However, Fang Zheng was completely unconcerned about the reactions of these creatures. With a kick to the shield, he instantly knocked the gnoll over, then swiftly turned and thrust his sword downward. The moment his Pitch Black Greatsword pierced the gnoll, a flash of light surged through its body, and Fang Zheng felt a sensation on his sword blade that was similar to piercing a balloon. Yet this feeling was fleeting, as the gnoll’s shield was promptly shattered by Fang Zheng’s sword, followed by the sharp sword blade effortlessly penetrating the gnoll’s skull.

”Gah gah gah!!”

At that moment, Fang Zheng saw the short alien resembling a gnome peeking out from behind cover, pulling the trigger on him. Quickly, Fang Zheng saw several purple light beams flying toward him.

To Fang Zheng’s surprise, these alien ”bullets” were far slower than he expected. Even without Time Manipulation, the ”bullets” seemed slow and easy to dodge in his eyes. So he shifted to the side, dodging the seemingly harmless attack.

”These alien weapons don’t seem so... What the heck!”

To Fang Zheng’s shock, before he could finish his sentence, those purple ”bullets” suddenly accelerated and then curved to shoot toward him!

What the heck is this? Auto-aiming?

Sure, in the Main World, Magic Missiles also feature auto-aiming, but that’s magic, and now this is technology!

While grumbling, Fang Zheng swiftly dodged the purple ”bullets” again, then saw them piercing into a nearby box like arrows and ultimately exploding with a ”boom”.

”Well this... These things are dastardly...”

Fang Zheng gasped, seeing the blackened ground before him and the destroyed wreckage. These things are insidious, not only tracking but also piercing and exploding?

Alien weapons are indeed different!

With this thought, Fang Zheng didn’t hesitate any longer. He swiftly dashed forward, wielding his sword towards the dwarf-like gnome alien, slicing it up briskly. These gnome aliens were even worse than the gnolls, falling like cut grass; within a few breaths, Fang Zheng had cleared out most of the aliens here.

Just as he cut down the last gnome alien, suddenly, a faint breeze swept from behind Fang Zheng. He hurriedly shifted, swinging his Pitch Black Greatsword backward with force.

”Slash!!”

As Fang Zheng’s Pitch Black Greatsword struck behind him, a Light Blade suddenly emerged from the air, followed by an alien figure wearing armor, unlike any he had seen before.

Is this the elite?

Fang Zheng frowned at the creature before him. From previous data, the elites were the most frequently mentioned race in the Star Alliance, so Fang Zheng noted them down. It seems this race does have some skill... their backstabbing technique is top-notch.

”Roar———!!”

Seeing its sneak attack fail, the elite roared in anger at Fang Zheng, then leaped toward him. But before it could land, Fang Zheng swung his sword, slicing it in half from head to toe, shattering explosively. f(r)eew(e)bnovel.(c)o(m)

”That’s all it’s got, huh.”

Looking at the elite’s corpse on the ground, Fang Zheng pouted in boredom. He originally wanted to witness the aliens’ swordsmanship, but realized they completely relied on physical prowess... But... I must say, this sword is quite beautiful.

Fang Zheng picked up the sword hilt from the ground, pressed a button on the grip, and with a ”buzz”, razor-sharp blades emerged on either side of the hilt, forming a dazzling energy sword.

This is way cooler than a Jedi Knight’s lightsaber from Star Wars.

Admiring the energy sword, Fang Zheng nodded contentedly and put it away. Seems like it could be analyzed for mass production when he returns—after all, this weapon has a high aesthetic appeal, handy for intimidating others. Equipping each little girl with one... My, my, what a sight it would be!

With that thought, Fang Zheng casually picked up another Star Alliance pistol, pulled the trigger to test it.

With a ”whoosh”, Fang Zheng felt a slight tremor in his hand, and a light orb shot out, exploding on the ground not far away.

”.........”

That’s it?

Looking at the Star Alliance pistol in his hand, Fang Zheng was completely bewildered.

This thing’s shooting experience is just like firing cotton balls!

Can this even be considered a gun?

No ”bang bang bang” sounds.

No strong recoil.

Not even the scent of gunpowder, no shells dropping, lacking any mechanical or violent aesthetic.

What use is this lousy gun to me!

Weapons without the feel are just trash!

Bah!

Fang Zheng threw the Star Alliance pistol to the ground, then kicked it away.

”What’s wrong, Master?”

At this point, Nymph and Iona approached, seeing Fang Zheng’s actions, they couldn’t help but look at him curiously. Nymph asked inquisitively, while Fang Zheng merely shook his head.

”It’s nothing, Nymph. Just a bit too big difference between imagination and reality. Sometimes high technology isn’t all that good after all...”

Fang Zheng waved his hand helplessly, then turned to Little Angel.

”Alright, let’s not waste time, begin the operation. Iona, see if there’s any nanomaterial here that you need. Nymph, prepare to hack the Star Alliance network, let’s see what these aliens plan to do here.”

”Yes, Master.”

”Understood, Commander.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s command, the two nodded, then Nymph walked to the Star Alliance control panel and placed her hand on it. In no time, various charts appeared before Little Angel. Meanwhile, Iona sniffed around the Star Alliance supplies, taking out transparent-box-like items and placing them into Other Space for repair and use.

Fang Zheng, accompanied by Little Fire Dragon, idly started testing other Star Alliance weapons.

To Fang Zheng’s great disappointment, most of the Star Alliance personal weapons were average, though they were somewhat more powerful than human weapons, they lacked the feel, completely without punch. Only the Star Alliance carbine somewhat offered Fang Zheng a decent feeling, but the other weapons... they just didn’t sit right with him.

”Completed hacking, Master!”

Just as Fang Zheng was evaluating the Star Alliance weapons for anything that the Heavenly Dao Palace could use, Nymph’s voice suddenly rang out.

”I’ve hacked into the Star Alliance database!”

”Oh?”

Hearing Nymph’s report, Fang Zheng instantly perked up. He held Little Fire Dragon as he hurried to Nymph’s side.

”How’s it? Found out what they’re doing here?”

”They seem to be here on a pilgrimage.”

”... Pilgrimage?”

”Yes.”

As she spoke, Nymph tapped a few buttons, revealing an image.

”According to these Star Alliance network sources, it seems there are Forerunner relics here, and they’re seeking the power derived from the relics...”

Forerunners? What’s that? The UNSC’s data didn’t mention them?

Though Fang Zheng didn’t know what they were, he understood Nymph’s implication.

”So... there’s something good here?”

”... Should be.”

”Great.”

Hearing Nymph’s answer, Fang Zheng’s lips curved into a smile.

Though he didn’t know what Forerunners were, it’s certain they created this steel planet. Their technological level must be higher than the Star Alliance!

If you’re going to do it, do it the best!

”Nymph, can you find the entrance to the relic?”

”Of course, Master, actually...”

As she spoke, Nymph pointed to a far-off metallic spire.

”According to the report, the entrance to the relic is over there.”
