Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 817: Chapter 816: Don’t Say You’ve Not Been Forewarned

Under the transportation of the King Worm, Bishop Carl and his group spent several minutes to arrive within the Swarm Territory. As the abdominal cavity opened once again, the tentacles lifted Bishop Carl and the others once more, placing them back on the ground.

It was only when their feet touched the ground that the Dwarf Bishop breathed a sigh of relief.

”Goddess bless, we finally landed.”

”It seems that this is what these creatures use to transport their members.”

Looking at the King Worm floating away above them like a hot air balloon, the Elf Bishop’s expression was also remarkably vivid.

”To be honest, this group gives me a... quite a unique feeling.”

”Now is not the time to talk about these things.”

Bishop Carl interrupted their exclamations, watching their surroundings nervously. They saw themselves surrounded by Jumping Bugs, Hydralisks, Roaches, and various Swarm units in all directions, with the five of them at the center. The units were coldly staring at these uninvited guests, occasionally emitting low hissing sounds.

”They don’t seem very friendly.”

The Orc Bishop placed his hand back on the spiked hammer at his waist once more, but soon gave up... with so many Zerg units, it would be futile even if he resisted...

And at this moment, a hoarse voice sounded.

”...Ah...it’s you again...two-legged beasts...”

Along with this voice, they saw the Swarm in front of them silently part ways, and then an Insect Matriarch emerged from within—it was Mirune, the Chief Insect Queen under Fang Zheng.

Seeing Mirune in front of them, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, though strictly speaking, Mirune was also part of the Zerg. But just like in the story ”Flirting Scholar Tang Bo Hu,” where beauty needs green leaves for contrast, seeing a creature relatively conforming to human aesthetics among a group of monsters looking stranger than devils indeed made everyone relax a bit.

”Hello...”

Bishop Carl stepped forward and respectfully bowed to the other.

”My name is Carl, a Cardinal from the Kingdom of the Holy Church. In fact, we know that in the previous period, you had a battle here...”

”Those foolish two-legged creatures...”

Mirune chuckled softly.

”They ignored the warnings and invaded the territory of our Swarm, so their only outcome was to become prey to the Swarm! Pathetic and stupid two-legged beasts, that’s the fate they deserve!”

Upon hearing this, the Human Bishop frowned slightly, yet others remained unchanged in expression. Bishop Carl remained very calm and continued talking.

”It’s like this, we would like to conduct some investigations regarding this matter... I heard that before the invasion, the Swarm had issued a warning?”

”That’s right.”

Mirune snorted, and with her movement, the tentacles behind her began to wave.

”We tried to expel those two-legged beasts from our territory, but they refused to listen and still attempted to invade the territory, even launching attacks against the Swarm! In that case, those two-legged beasts are our enemies, and any enemy daring to invade Swarm Territory will be annihilated!”

”........”

Hearing this, Bishop Carl and others exchanged glances, and the situation became very clear. The Kingdom of Flame assumed the uncharted territory was ownerless, but in fact, the Swarm had already claimed it in advance. Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Flame mistook the Swarm for Chaos Beasts and attacked them.

To the Kingdom of Flame, eliminating beasts to take uncharted land was naturally justifiable.

While to the Swarm, these ”intruders” entering Swarm Territory were naturally enemies.

Neither side was wrong, as the Kingdom of Flame couldn’t predict creatures appearing like these monsters had intelligence, while to the Swarm, those ”two-legged beasts” were barbaric and stupid—if they didn’t understand the Swarm’s intentions, they only met a dead-end...

After understanding this, the five bishops exchanged looks in silence for a while.

What could one say about such a situation...

”Well then, this...”

Looking at the Insect Matriarch before him, Carl pondered for a long time, not knowing how to address her, and simply muddled past it.

”...When we arrived here, we saw many... on the borders... they are...”

”They will guard our Swarm Territory. If those two-legged beasts dare to come again seeking death, then we will completely annihilate them!”

At this point, Mirune widened her eyes suddenly.

”The supreme Swarm cannot be provoked! If those lowly, stupid two-legged beasts dare to invade Swarm Territory again, we will utterly destroy them!”

”........!!!”

Hearing this, the five bishops were startled. After conversing with Mirune, they somewhat understood this so-called Swarm. They weren’t particularly evil but certainly not that benevolent either. However, as of now, this ”Swarm” had dispelled the Chaos Mist and turned this Chaos Land into an orderly domain, which was certain.

Moreover, the bishops could also feel that at this moment, the thing under their feet resembling a carpet formed from flesh and blood was emitting an incredibly stable and pure Power of Order. Although this power wasn’t particularly strong on its own, combined with the Fungal Carpet covering the entire wilderness, it completely suppressed the erosion and backlash of the Chaotic Power, and given time, the Chaos Power in this wilderness would be thoroughly purified!

Although the Zerg leaders are indeed... indescribable, their achievements in maintaining order and banishing chaos are undeniable.

Of course, the five bishops also wouldn’t award the Swarm a medal to commend them for maintaining peace and harmony or anything. Coming from different races, they naturally understood the vast differences in culture, perspective, and inclination among different species. And giving them a medal might somehow seem like viewing the Swarm as their subordinates, going by this... unknown named one’s words and deeds, they were clearly a very proud race.

In such a scenario, recklessly angering them would be an extremely unwise move.

More importantly...

At this point, Bishop Carl glanced around at the countless dense Swarm.

They also had enough power to protect their interests.

”However... the Kingdom of Flame... even those who attacked you previously held a very formidable power as well.”

Bishop Carl still intended to persuade both sides to cease fighting. If it were merely a pure war, that would be one thing, but from what the Swarm implied, if attacked again, they planned to utterly destroy the Kingdom of Flame?!

Although the Order Sanctuary held order as the primary belief, that didn’t mean they would disregard life entirely.

”If both sides fight, even if the Swarm gains victory, there would be significant losses, right...”

Upon hearing Bishop Carl’s inquiry, Mirune calmly responded.

”The Swarm... knows no fear.”
