Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 826: Chapter 825: The Protagonist Is Really Hard to Serve

Though Fang Zheng admitted that many times protagonists discover hidden conspiracies and secrets because they can’t resist meddling.

But sometimes he felt those protagonists really did have itchy hands...

In fact, this sort of trope is quite common.

Take for instance a protagonist accidentally entering a ruin, then unlocking a seal and releasing a demon intent on world destruction.

Then the protagonist, in order to defeat the demon, embarks on the path of becoming a hero, overcoming eighty-one challenges, defeats the demon, becomes a hero, and conveniently discovers that he is a descendant of some extraordinarily powerful race, which is why he could open the gate into the ruin and activate the seal—it’s all destiny!

But wait a minute, don’t get too excited or fired up, let’s discuss a logical problem.

Firstly, why did the protagonist’s ancestor capture the Demon King but not finish it off, instead sealing it? Did they think of human rights back then?

Secondly, if it wasn’t for the protagonist’s itchy hands, wouldn’t the demon still be sealed in the ruin for another thousand years?

But what now? The demon has been released, countless people have lost their homes, families torn apart, tens of thousands homeless, cities turned into sea of flames—all because of the protagonist’s meddling, and yet you guys see him as a hero saving the world??

Is there something wrong with your brains or mine?

Perhaps... we should just knock out this Chief Officer and take him away.

Thinking about this, Fang Zheng began to consider seriously. He felt this might be the opening plot of some ”instance,” but honestly, Fang Zheng did not want to attract any enemies. If you say he arrived here when the world was already chaotic, that’s one thing, but the universe seems peaceful now. Is there really a need to release a thousand-year-old demon to cause havoc?

Definitely not necessary.

So that’s decided!

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng immediately opened his personal terminal and contacted the Chief Officer.

”Um... Chief Officer? Where are you? My spaceship is almost repaired, how about we prepare to leave?”

”Wait a minute.”

But the Chief Officer obviously did not intend to listen to Fang Zheng.

”We’ve discovered an anomaly signal here, it’s likely coming from a UNSC warship, we must identify the source of this signal.”

”...Why not send it over for us to analyze? My Little Angel knows a thing or two about this.”

But just as Fang Zheng finished speaking, Cortana spoke again.

”This is military secrets, strictly prohibiting ordinary civilians from accessing.”

Hey, I say you’re fat, and here you are panting?

Upon hearing Cortana’s response, Fang Zheng rolled his eyes in displeasure.

”Then... alright, I’ll wait for your good news.”

Ending the communication, Fang Zheng snorted in disdain.

”I say, is something wrong with this AI’s brain? Doesn’t appreciate any help at all, pfft, what good is such an AI, at least the one at the Planetarium can entertain kids...”

”What should we do now, Commander?”

At this moment, Iona stepped forward to inquire as Fang Zheng pondered and then decided.

Fang Zheng’s primary goal coming to this world is to rescue people, the second is tomb raiding, so of course he does not wish to attract unnecessary trouble.

”Nymph, how long will it take to control this... Shield World?”

”Currently... about an hour and a half.”

”Great, open the passage for me, mark the location of the Chief Officer, I’ll go fetch him with Iona. Oh, and shut down all his systems over there, don’t let him near that prison. I have a very bad premonition, if the protagonist meddles again, I’d be busy.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng turned with Iona and left, and upon reaching the doorway, Fang Zheng suddenly thought of something.

”Oh, right, send the Chief Officer’s signal to the Star Alliance, let those aliens give the protagonist some trouble. Maybe if he feels he can’t beat them, he’ll turn tail and run.”

”Understood, and... what about you, Master?”

”I’ll see if I can knock him out and take him away. No matter how much of a protagonist he is, he’s only the protagonist of this world, I can’t believe he can still control me. If I’m too late, I’ll just go destroy that thousand-year-old Demon Lord...”

”I’ll use a Breath of Banishment to send you straight to the end of the universe and see if you can come back?”

Thinking about this, Fang Zheng hurriedly went on his way with Iona, initially planning to leave Little Fire Dragon behind, but the little one insisted on following, so Fang Zheng considered it and allowed it to tag along. Aid World is different from Trial World, Fang Zheng can use magic, if any danger arises, he can simply teleport everyone away.

Though the Chief Officer’s side is a bit troublesome, if Fang Zheng can leave some Magic Seal with him, it would be easier, but the guy is truly a soldier, not like those simple-minded protagonists in Japanese stories who trust anyone they meet, even that AI makes Fang Zheng feel annoyed, a complete paranoia patient.

Fang Zheng previously heard the communication between Cortana and the Chief Officer, isn’t Synapsus’s black technology unrivaled yet can’t deal with your encrypted communication system?

But Fang Zheng hadn’t expected them to see him as some schemer... well, I am a schemer, so what? Unhappy? Bite me!

Provided you can win the bite.

Despite having all these chaotic thoughts swirling in his mind, Fang Zheng kept a steady pace forward, although he was a bit helpless that even as Nymph gradually took over the operation system of the entire Shield World, she couldn’t just ”swish” teleport Fang Zheng straight to the destination, the reason is simple—this damned place doesn’t even have a transportation tool!

Who knows what those so-called Forerunners truly were, maybe they had wings or were naturally able to teleport like Mind Flayers and didn’t have to walk? Otherwise, how to explain the backward public transport in this Shield World, such a vast place, apart from elevators, no transportation tools, can’t even find a tram, have to rely on one’s two legs, also made Fang Zheng feel puzzled whether the so-called Forerunners had bent their tech tree...

But along the way, Fang Zheng wasn’t bored at all, for Nymph periodically reported on the Chief Officer’s situation, and Fang Zheng discovered this protagonist truly knew how to cause trouble.

Nymph took the system offline, and the Chief Officer would climb walls, pick locks, manually activate.

Nymph locked the gate, and the Chief Officer just... opened it, he seemed to have quite high-level authorization, anyway for this protagonist, the gates of this ruin were essentially unguarded.

Nymph called in the Star Alliance army... basically, they just got thrashed by the Chief Officer along the way.

This dang combat hero is really extraordinary.

Listening to Nymph’s report, Fang Zheng inwardly marveled, he didn’t intend to kill the Chief Officer, he originally thought that as long as he closed the gate, took the system offline, then brought in some enemies, maybe the Chief Officer would sense impossibility and voluntarily retreat.

But this guy just relentlessly charged forward!

”Report master, they’ve entered the main control core control room... wait, they activated the automated defense system, Cortana opened the Teleportation Gate! They’ve entered!”

”What?!”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng immediately jumped three meters high.

Damn it! According to the usual plot, when protagonists are teleported, it’s always to the prison holding the BOSS!!

Next, as soon as this Chief Officer dares mess around again, I’m going to have a headache! f|re(e)web.n\ovel. (c)o.m

”Nymph, quickly lock onto their target, how far are we from the teleportation device!”

”Two passages away!”

”Quick, let’s go!”
