Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 844: Chapter 843: Adventure Journey in the Main World (I)

Unlike the Heavenly Dao Palace that’s like spring all year round, when Fang Zheng set foot on the Eastern Continent again, it was already early autumn.

Amidst the vast expanse of green, there were now patches of red and yellow. The autumn wind blew, carrying a hint of chill, and looking out, one could see the wheat in the fields swaying with the wind, like a golden ocean...

”So this is the Main World... it really is beautiful...”

Watching the scenery before her, Kurumi squinted her eyes and couldn’t help but sigh, while the twin-tailed young girl standing next to her also nodded.

”Yes, it’s truly incredible that we’ve actually come to another world...”

Walnut gazed at the distant scenery, feeling somewhat emotional. Although she had been at the Heavenly Dao Palace for some time, to Walnut, the feeling of ”having arrived in a completely different world” was still somewhat lacking. Because the overall setup of the Heavenly Dao Palace was still quite modernized, apart from the Star Spirit’s architectural core and the warship floating atop the clouds, simply walking through a town could easily make Walnut forget she had left her own world.

But now, standing on this country road, looking at this town full of exotic charm before her, she finally had a tangible feeling of stepping into another world.

”We’re not here for tourism.”

Fang Zheng strode out from behind the two, glancing at the young girls ahead of him.

”You should still remember what you’re supposed to do, right?”

”Of course, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

Hearing Fang Zheng speak, Kurumi blinked and smiled. At present, Kurumi wasn’t wearing her usual favorite black gothic skirt, nor her signature red and black spirit armor. Instead, she held a magic wand in her hand and was entirely wrapped in a plain brown mage robe, looking just like a mage.

And Walnut wasn’t dressed in her usual school uniform but was wearing the leather armor that mercenaries often wore, looking no different from a mercenary making a living by adventuring through the wind and dust — of course, if there was something different about her, it would be that what Walnut carried on her back wasn’t a longsword, but a shovel...

Even Fang Zheng himself wasn’t wearing his usual noble attire or the Farron Undead Legion armor. Instead, he wore a half plate armor commonly sold in blacksmith shops, with a silver white dagger hanging at his waist and a pitch black greatsword strapped to his back. Not only that, but Fang Zheng also wore an iron helmet that covered the upper half of his face.

This trio, at a glance, looked almost indistinguishable from the adventurers one could see everywhere.

”But Mr. Fang Zheng, why do we have to dress like this?”

Kurumi curiously blinked and looked at Fang Zheng.

”Didn’t you say you’re some sort of... Holy Spirit Knight? Why don’t we appear as our original identities?”

”Because the city we’re heading to isn’t exactly a great place.”

Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.

”The city is called City of Twilight Moon, located in the Silver Duchy. To put it nicely, it’s a gathering place for adventurers, where they embark on adventures and pursue whatever they desire.”

”And to put it not so nicely?”

”It’s a trash can for all sorts of riff-raff.”

Fang Zheng curled his lips.

”It’s not like there are no legitimate adventurers, but even then, you shouldn’t expect much from them, let alone the fact that the barrier to becoming an adventurer is very low. In truth, many thieves, bandits, and even cultists often take on the guise of an adventurer to avoid attention. If I were to come here under the guise of a Templar... would you believe that within five minutes this city would be nearly empty?”

Of course, that might be a bit exaggerated, but it’s not entirely untrue. Where there’s light, there’s shadow, and even the cleanest and most orderly restaurant has a place for trash. And City of Twilight Moon can be considered one of the ”trash cans” on the Eastern Continent. Fang Zheng also knew well that, officially, this city was governed by a certain incompetent noble lord of the Silver Duchy, but in reality, the true control of the city lay with a thief guild known as the ”Blade of Rebellion.”

Fang Zheng was unsure of what he might encounter in this city, but when he used a Prophecy Spell for predictions, the only guidance the prophecy provided was that the clue to his goal was here, hence he disguised his identity and came to this city.

After learning that Fang Zheng was heading to the Eastern Continent, many people in the Heavenly Dao Palace were pestering him to take them to the Main World. After much consideration, Fang Zheng eventually chose Walnut and Kurumi; little girls were definitely not included. After the battle at Golden Bay, Natsuse and her group had already become targets of attention from major forces. Such power at such a young age, coupled with their unique combat skills... Fang Zheng aimed to conceal his identity, not make it obvious.

Therefore, Fang Zheng ultimately chose Kurumi and Walnut. The first reason for choosing them was because both were accustomed to battle and could accept it more than others. Secondly, neither had appeared in front of others, making them less likely to arouse suspicion.

By the way, after returning to the Main World, Fang Zheng also conducted a check on Walnut and Rea, and to his surprise, the divine arts of the Main World didn’t perceive Walnut and Rea as belonging to the ”Undead Creature” category, nor as ”creatures.”

At least, Fang Zheng couldn’t detect Walnut using ”Undead Creature Detection,” nor could ”Life Detection” find her...

This left Fang Zheng scratching his head a bit; you couldn’t just say Rea and Walnut were machines, could you... What on earth is the principle behind the detection spells in the Main World?

Anyway, after undergoing training over this period, Walnut was roughly at the elite combat level of the Main World, and she was quite interested in the Main World itself, so Fang Zheng brought her along as a cover.

”In any case, let’s head into the city.”

Perhaps because their attire was not particularly different from that of ordinary mercenaries, the three of them encountered no obstacles when entering the city and smoothly entered the City of Twilight Moon.

”Wow...”

Just after entering the city and seeing the scene before her, Walnut couldn’t help but exclaim. Strictly speaking, the City of Twilight Moon was not a particularly beautiful place; one could even say the whole city appeared somewhat dirty and chaotic. However, because it was a gathering point for all walks of life, members of every race were present; not only could you see humans here, but also dwarves, orcs, half-elves, and even elves... This was just like the plots in games or novels and movies for Walnut!

At this moment, Kurumi was also looking around the crowd with interest, showing a rather playful expression.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, where shall we go next?”

”How about going to a tavern?”

Right then, Walnut eagerly suggested.

”In games, isn’t the tavern the place to trigger plots and accept quests?”

I never thought you were a game enthusiast too.

Glancing at the excited Walnut, Fang Zheng nodded.

”Certainly, but... the tavern here might be a little different than you imagine.”

”Huh?”

At first, Walnut was somewhat puzzled by Fang Zheng’s words, but when they arrived at a nearby tavern, she immediately understood what he meant.

”Bang!!”

Just as the three of them reached the entrance of a tavern named ”The Limping Shack”, a crashing sound rang out. Fang Zheng and the others then saw a towering orc crash through the door like a sandbag and fly out, landing heavily on the ground with a wail. The orc then quickly stood up, glaring fiercely at the tavern, and pulled a battle axe from his waist.

”Come out, you stinking human, see how I’ll chop you in half!!”

”If you’re not afraid of death, give it a try, you ugly orc!”

With these words, a man clad in iron armor strode out, holding a longsword and looking disdainfully at the orc before him.

”This isn’t your dirty, barbaric Savage Mountains. Being so discourteous to a lady won’t go unpunished!”

”Bah!! You’re asking for death!”

Hearing the man’s taunt, the orc spat, then suddenly raised the battle axe in his hand and chopped towards the man. The man, in turn, raised his longsword, easily blocking the orc’s attack. He then frowned, let out a cold shout, and pushed forward, forcing the orc back. Seizing the opportunity, the man stepped forward and swung his sword!

”Swish!!!”

With a wail, a streak of blood appeared on the orc’s chest. His burly body swayed slightly, then knelt on the ground. Meanwhile, the man’s longsword was pressed against the orc’s throat.

”You... you...”

”Get lost, I don’t want to see you again!”

”Hmph!!!”

Faced with the man’s words, the orc had a dark expression. Finally, without saying a word, he stood up and quickly turned to leave.

What a farce.

Seeing that the conflict before him had ended, Fang Zheng shrugged, and just as he was about to leave, a petite figure squeezed through the crowd and grabbed his hand.

”Mr. Fang Zheng? Is that you?”

Oh my, I’ve disguised myself like this and someone still recognized me?

Hearing the person call out his name so easily, Fang Zheng was also shocked. He looked down and was quite surprised when he saw the figure before him.

”Lady Fina?”
