Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 849: Chapter 848: This place doesn’t just have problems

No wonder Walnut had that expression; in fact, it wasn’t just Walnut. Even Fang Zheng, Fina, and the others were equally stunned by the scene before them, unsure of what to say.

Before their eyes, Uncle Rand’s home had completely transformed into something else. Fang Zheng distinctly remembered that previously, Uncle Rand’s big tree was on the left, and the wooden house was on the right.

Now... do you think the wooden house is on the left and the big tree on the right?

Haha, that’s a wrong guess.

Before Fang Zheng stood a wooden house on both the left and right sides!

And they looked identical!!

The tree had even sprouted right out of the wooden house, one on each side!

What on earth is going on?

At this moment, not just Fina but even Fang Zheng scratched his head, utterly clueless about what was happening. He pondered for a moment and then waved his hand.

”Let’s go inside and take a look.”

With Fang Zheng leading the way, the group entered the house and looked around. To their surprise, the two houses were almost indistinguishable inside; the furniture and even the arrangements were identical. The only noticeable difference was the position of the houses and that tree...

”What is going on?”

Fang Zheng looked at the wooden bowl in his hands, which he had picked up from the table inside the wooden house. The two bowls were virtually identical, even in the grain, and they were placed in exactly the same spot. Fang Zheng wanted to use ”Ratziel” to investigate the situation, but all he got from the tome was information about the wooden house and the tableware, indicating they were all normal everyday items with no issues.

But it was evident that something was wrong here just by looking at it!

In fact, it wasn’t just Uncle Rand’s cabin with problems.

Standing on the hill, Fang Zheng gazed at the village nearby and saw that all the houses were crooked and slanted. Although Fang Zheng had only arrived at the village earlier that day and had only taken a cursory glance at its layout, he knew the positioning and construction of these houses were problematic.

Hmm? You ask why?

Is that even a question? Who builds houses facing away from the main entrance?

”Mr. Fang Zheng, what should we do now?”

At this time, the other three approached, and Fina looked at Fang Zheng uneasily, hesitating over what to say. Fang Zheng stroked his chin, squinted, and once again surveyed the village before him.

”Fina.”

”Ah, yes, what is it?”

”Do you remember how you found that group of cultists yesterday? Let’s walk that direction again, not following the current layout but as you remember.”

”Okay.”

Though unsure of what Fang Zheng intended, Fina obediently nodded, closed her eyes to concentrate, and led the group in another direction.

As they traversed the village, the group discovered that the oddities went beyond these; the houses themselves were peculiar. Some appeared decayed and crumbling, while others looked newly pristine, as if just built. Their locations were a disordered, chaotic jumble. This caused Fina to stop multiple times, close her eyes, and recall memories before she could guide Fang Zheng and the group further.

This stop-and-go journey continued until Fina, at first hesitant, seemed to recall something significant, and her pace quickened.

”If I recall correctly, it should be here... yes, Mr. Fang Zheng, look!”

Excitedly stretching out her hand, Fina pointed ahead while turning back to Fang Zheng. He took a few steps forward to the hilltop and looked down. As expected, in the direction Fina indicated, Fang Zheng saw what she had previously described to him.

On the other side of the hill, there was a small gorge, with a stream flowing down and out of it, surrounded by thickets but no trees. However, in this spot, Fang Zheng didn’t see the cultists that Fina had mentioned.

”Where are the cultists you mentioned?”

”In the gorge,”

Fina pointed to a small path by the gorge’s edge.

”I initially wanted to see which side was easier to approach, and then I noticed several cultists emerging from that small path. After confirming their identity, I left.”

”Which cult do they belong to?”

”They were wearing robes of the Doomsday Church.”

Just as expected.

Hearing Fina’s response, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow. His prophecy spell had directed him here, though its purpose was unclear. Now it seemed connected to the Doomsday Church; he just didn’t know what clues he might find...

”Let’s go have a look, everyone be careful.”

With this thought, Fang Zheng motioned forward, leading everyone cautiously ahead.

The entire gorge was enveloped in deathly silence, devoid of any sounds. Normally, there would be birds and insects at night, but here it was eerily silent, even their footsteps were almost imperceptible.

As they cautiously reached the bottom of the gorge, Fang Zheng suddenly noticed flickering lights in the mountain path ahead. Upon seeing the firelight, he gestured for everyone to hide. Kurumi immediately melted into the shadows, while Fina and Walnut crouched behind a nearby large rock. Fang Zheng quickly ducked behind a tree, peering curiously along the path.

Before long, Fang Zheng saw three figures holding lanterns descending the path. They wore black robes with a skull head ablaze with flames emblazoned on the chest. Recognizing the emblem, Fang Zheng instantly identified them as cultists of the Doomsday Church!

The robed trio continued down the path, halted at the junction, seemingly inspecting something, then turned back along their original route.

At that moment, Fang Zheng suddenly lunged forward.

Action!

In the blink of an eye, Fang Zheng swiftly appeared behind the three cultists, delivering a strike that knocked them out. Immediately, the others hurriedly emerged from hiding and gathered around the unconscious cultists.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, you didn’t kill them, did you?”

”Don’t worry, I just knocked them out,”

Fang Zheng waved his hand, squatting down to flip over the cultists, removing their hoods.

Soon, a familiar, honest face appeared before them.

Seeing the face, Fina was taken aback.

”Uncle Rand?”
