Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 837: Chapter 836: Unlimited Imagination...

Fang Zheng cheerfully took his Fleet Girl to dig the Forerunner’s grave, completely unaware that his appearance had stirred up a storm within the UNSC.

After obtaining the Recombination Device, Fang Zheng simply took off, however, the unfortunate Chief Officer lacked his skills and could only stay at the Space Station awaiting support. Like all movie and game plots, the UNSC fleet arrived slowly, only after everything had ended, and by the time they got there, both the Forerunner and Fang Zheng were nowhere to be seen.

But that’s not the main point. The important part is that the footage of Fang Zheng’s Sea Mist Fleet fighting against the Forerunner and the Star Alliance Coalition was completely captured by the Space Station. After viewing these images, the leading UNSC officer was astonished and immediately reported the incident to UNSC headquarters, then took the Chief Officer and the Space Station director back to the main facility for questioning and investigation.

It’s not without reason that the UNSC was so tense; the mere existence of the Forerunner itself is very sensitive, and Fang Zheng’s Sea Mist Fleet shocked the UNSC. You know, after years of fighting the Star Alliance, they could barely hold their ground on land, but had no way to compete in space battles. If it weren’t for the internal troubles of the Star Alliance caused by the Prophet’s ”Great Journey” and the sudden revolt by the Ghost Face Beasts against the Elites causing the Star Alliance’s split and civil war, the UNSC might not have needed to fight this war at all.

Even the UNSC’s newly-made Infinity was just a test ship, though it used technology excavated from the Forerunners, its true combat power... well, remains to be seen.

However, what the UNSC didn’t expect was that, when they were still struggling against the Star Alliance Warships, there was suddenly a power with forces strong enough to beat the Star Alliance and even compete with the Forerunners!

More importantly, this power had already had contact with them!

UNSC’s top brass immediately began to have all sorts of thoughts, although they were working with the Star Alliance for now, strictly speaking, the two sides used to fight fiercely, and even with the common enemy in the Hongmo, they couldn’t just cast aside their grudges and fight together.

It might be a bit of an overstatement to say that the UNSC and the Star Alliance have different dreams while sharing the same bed, but the reality isn’t all that different. After all, the UNSC’s technology is still behind the Star Alliance’s, and as the saying goes, the one with the bigger fist has more authority. So, even though they’ve formed a united front, the UNSC still feels timid speaking in front of the Star Alliance.

But now, with a newly emerged third-party power that even the Star Alliance finds hard to rival, the UNSC’s thoughts began to stir.

”What do you all think?”

After watching the video records before him, a UNSC senior officer lifted his head and looked at the other colleagues sitting beside him. Following that, an elderly man with white hair shook his head.

”Looking at their appearance and equipment, they don’t seem like rebels.”

”How could rebels have such good equipment?”

Another blond man couldn’t help but mock himself.

”If the rebels had such a fleet, the ones sitting here would be them!”

Although these words seemed a bit to discourage their own forces, no one present refuted it. The rebels under UNSC could be seen more as terrorists than rebels; they might barely manage to blow up a space station, kidnap a hostage or release some poison gas, but doing scientific research... come on, anyone capable of scientific research wouldn’t engage in that!

”What’s the Technical Department’s view?”

The white-haired old man didn’t dwell on it and instead looked toward another man with glasses who hastily stood up and spoke.

”We have recorded and checked the communications logs from the Chief Officer, along with the AI Cortana, and found that the other side is using rather advanced quantum communication technology, which we can’t reverse-engineer. However, based on the information we have, their technical... honestly, does share some basic similarities with ours.”

”Then the question is, where exactly are these people from? They’re not on our turf, and certainly, they can’t be in the Star Alliance’s territory. Just look at their fleet; manufacturing such a fleet requires a significant industrial capacity. Even if they were rebels, they couldn’t possibly have manufacturing facilities on our UNSC turf capable of producing such warships! Unless all of us at UNSC are blind!”

”I’m even questioning whether they’re human at all.”

Another UNSC senior officer immediately chimed in.

”You all saw that, according to the images provided by Cortana, the other side actually possesses the ability to transform into giant creatures! This doesn’t seem to be a biological mutation; it seems more like Magic... However, even so, it’s something neither the Star Alliance nor maybe even the Forerunners can achieve! Perhaps they change their appearance to look human to better interact with us! And their true appearance might be those giant dragon-like creatures!”

It must be admitted, perhaps due to being stifled for too long, these senior officers had quite the imagination. Now that someone had started, others began to let their imaginations run wild too.

”I’m suspecting they might be from a Magical Civilization... Right! Magic! How can you be sure that there’s no magic in this world? According to Earth’s records, haven’t we seen many accounts concerning magic and dragons?”

”But those are all fairy tales, stories.”

”It’s not necessarily all stories, you know, there are no real dragons on Earth, but now we can see the Star Alliance. Look, if it’s something fictional, no matter how similar it is, there would always be discrepancies. Yet, when you look at this image, that dragon, its form, its fighting style, is identical to what our ancestors described. What does that show?!”

Another UNSC senior officer, evidently an enthusiastic fantasy novel lover, showed a face flushed with excitement.

”It indicates that it’s very likely that these ’dragons’ once lived on Earth many years ago, but then left Earth for other planets! Don’t historians say that there once existed Ancient Civilizations on Earth? And many ancient civilization records also depict a group of highly developed ancients leaving this planet...”

”So, you mean...”

”Exactly!”

The officer slapped the table.

”I suspect these suddenly appearing mysterious people are the Ancient Humans that Earth’s historians have talked about! Otherwise, why would they help us? If they were just a third-party power with ulterior motives, they could have easily seized the Recombination Device amidst our fight with the Forerunners! But they summoned a fleet, repelled the Forerunners and the Star Alliance’s fleet, not to mention they saved the Chief Officer before; that alone speaks volumes!”

”Speaking of the Recombination Device...”

At the mention of this word, those initially interested suddenly calmed down.

”You say... what do they intend to do with the Recombination Device? I suspect it’s not just about protecting us from being wiped out by the Recombination Device. If that’s the case, why didn’t they destroy it? Instead, they took it away and left behind that... that...”

”Pennant.”

”Right, pennant. So, has the text on it been analyzed?”

”It has been analyzed. The text comes from an ancient civilization on Earth several centuries ago, and it says...”

”What does it say?”

”... Spread love, harvest sunshine...”

”... ???”

”And those... currencies?”

”They haven’t circulated in any corner of Earth; they seem to be the currency used by the other side.”

It’s important to know that Fang Zheng usually doesn’t carry money, and what he sent to the Space Station was the five hundred... yen he previously found on a shopping trip with Yoshino in the Elf World.

Well, it was indeed five hundred bucks.

As a Paladin, you have to be credible, follow through on your words. If you say five hundred bucks, it’s five hundred bucks, and you can’t cheat people, right?

As for the purchasing power of those five hundred... that’s an economic issue.

Although very puzzled by what the other party was doing, after their brainwave outburst, the UNSC executives reached a consensus: whatever the case, first, establish contact with the other party, only then can the next step be taken!

Considering that only the Chief Officer had contact with the other party, the Chief Officer was soon brought over. Then, under the watchful eyes of UNSC senior officials, the Chief Officer silently initiated communication.

Soon, a voice sounded.

”... Sorry, the user you are trying to reach is out of service area, please try again later...”
