Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 823: Chapter 822: This Protagonist... is Toxic!!

Like the Chief Officer, Fang Zheng also planned to explore this planet. After all, whether it’s humans or aliens, the technology here is much higher than in other worlds. As the saying goes, the thief goes home empty-handed. Having come here, Fang Zheng naturally wouldn’t leave empty-handed; he had to take something with him.

So, he had Iona retract the warship and place it into subspace for automatic repair. Then the group, under Nymph’s guidance, headed toward the previously explored alien base. During this journey, Fang Zheng also learned about the background and basic situation of this world through the data previously searched by Nymph from the warship.

According to the records, the world’s various governments on Earth had already united to form a Earth United Government. After this, because of the development of Earth sciences, humans mastered long-distance teleportation technology, officially beginning alien system colonization.

At first, human alien colonization was quite smooth. They colonized hundreds of planets, big and small. Overall, development was relatively stable; however... they were not the only existence in the universe.

On Fertile Star, for the first time, they encountered their future enemies—the Star Alliance. Initially, both sides were communicating with thoughts of relative peace. However, the disparity in strength and each side’s perception of the other eventually led to war.

It is worth mentioning that initially, humans and the Star Alliance communicated through painting and imagery. Humans expressed their desire to trade with the Star Alliance by demonstrating the richness and resources of Fertile Star. The Star Alliance, on the other hand, showed an image of humans kneeling before them, handing over a round ball full of golden curves—a representation humans initially thought referred to a melon, but later realized it meant Fertile Star...

In the end, the war began like this. The Star Alliance raided Fertile Star, burning it completely into glass, and simultaneously launched a massacre on human outer space colonies. The gap in strength allowed humans only to fight while retreating. Although humans tried everything to delay the Star Alliance’s steps and keep them away from Earth, the Star Alliance was drawing closer and closer to Earth.

Eventually, they reached the largest human military base outside Earth—Distant Star.

Distant Star couldn’t withstand the advance of the Star Alliance either and fell completely. At the last moment, the super soldier S117 Chief Officer, whom Fang Zheng encountered, onboard the Autumn Wind Knoll cruiser, broke through the encirclement and used long-range teleportation to escape the Star Alliance Fleet, arriving in a strange star system. There, they discovered a mysterious ring-shaped object—HALO.

The Autumn Wind Knoll was attacked by the Star Alliance Fleet and crashed on HALO. While investigating this object, the Chief Officer unintentionally discovered a terrifying alien life—Hongmo.

According to the images extracted by Fang Zheng from the data, this creature is similar to the Zerg, but unlike the Zerg, Hongmo seems to have evolved the entire evolution tree towards parasitism. Their combat power is quite average, primarily relying on parasitizing other organisms to mutate them to attack enemies...

This creature was sealed within HALO, and HALO is actually a super-powerful weapon. Once activated, it will destroy all intelligent life in the Milky Way, while simultaneously causing Hongmo to perish completely due to losing their hosts.

As the protagonist, the Chief Officer naturally wouldn’t agree to this action, so he ultimately detonated the Autumn Wind Knoll, destroying the entire HALO and successfully escaping... Yes, a classic Hollywood movie ending.

When the Chief Officer returned to Earth again, the Star Alliance had already launched an attack on Earth. In the end, the Star Alliance opened a teleportation gate to the Ark, attempting to activate other HALOs through the Ark to annihilate everything. Simultaneously, a split and conflict also occurred within the Star Alliance, and as the ”protagonist,” the Chief Officer once again led a United Fleet composed of the Star Alliance and UNSC to rush to the Ark, destroying it to prevent all of this.

Following this, to escape the destroyed Ark, the Chief Officer boarded the Dawn-class. A problem occurred when passing through the teleportation gate, causing it to collapse and the Dawn-class to split in two, which was why Fang Zheng saw the remaining half...

”Tsk tsk, this is truly like the plot of a Hollywood hero blockbuster.”

After reading this file record, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but sigh. No matter how he looked at it, the Chief Officer was structured like a classic Hollywood plot. It’s really amazing that this world was tossed and turned so many times without being destroyed. It seems that even if he hadn’t come to save him, with his protagonist fate, he might not die even if stranded for another four years...

Hmm? Wait a second?

At this moment, Fang Zheng suddenly thought of something.

According to this data, this guy initially took the Autumn Wind Knoll, which crashed...

Then he took the Dawn-class, which split in half...

Now he’s on the Annihilation Level, and Iona fell...

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but shiver all over.

This guy’s not a cursed ship, is he?! Should he reject him if he wants to board his ship in the future? What if it crashes again? After all, it’s his ships that get jinxed!

”We’re here, Master; the Star Alliance base is just ahead!”

Accompanied by Nymph’s words, Fang Zheng also stopped. He bent down to look ahead, and sure enough, he saw a group of strangely shaped aliens appearing to be constructing fortifications at the bottom of the slope. Not far from them, a small transport spaceship floated.

This thing might be quite useful...

Fang Zheng squinted his eyes, carefully examining the transport ship. Now, the Heavenly Dao Palace has large warships, small warriors, but lacks suitable transportation tools. The little girls rely on running for combat charges. While the Star Spirit also has similar combat vehicles, most of them are for disabled Star Spirits to integrate with and become man-machine hybrids, which Fang Zheng wasn’t interested in.

The items used by this so-called Star Alliance... Hmm, they seem somewhat interesting now.

”Nymph, can you infiltrate the Star Alliance’s command network?”

”Sorry, Master.”

Facing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Nymph shook her head.

”The Star Alliance’s network uses a completely different encryption technology. I need a hardware terminal to fully parse it. Forcibly infiltrating might alert the opposition...”

”Well then, let’s play a little FPS game for now.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng casually pulled out a sniper rifle he obtained from the Dawn-class wreckage and shook it in his hand.

”It’s beautifully made... Tsk tsk, the Sci-Fi World is indeed extraordinary. I’ll take this back and have Sima Heavy Industry study it thoroughly, aiming for some reverse engineering... But before that, let’s test its power a bit.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng raised the sniper rifle in his hand, aimed at a Star Alliance member transporting materials in the distance, and pulled the trigger.

”Bang bang!!”

With the sound of two shots, the shield of the Star Alliance member abruptly flashed, after which its head immediately exploded, and the alien collapsed limply to the ground.

”Hmm, one shot for armor break, one for a headshot, quite good. It seems humans are somewhat skillful with ground weapons. No wonder they can hold their ground in planetary combat with the Star Alliance at a fifty-fifty ratio. They truly have some capabilities.”

By now, those aliens also realized they were being attacked, quickly picking up weapons to retaliate. Fang Zheng then raised the sniper rifle once more, aimed, and then...

Two shots, one...two shots, one...two shots, one...two...

”Click click click.”

”Out of bullets already?”

Fang Zheng was speechless as he had only taken down a few aliens, and his gun had run out of ammo. Upon checking, he found the remaining bullets count at... 0.

”This gun’s ammo is way too scarce. Couldn’t they provide unlimited ammo... Tsk, energy weapons are indeed more practical!”

With that, Fang Zheng stood up, tossed the sniper rifle aside, and handed the Little Fire Dragon perched on his shoulder over to Nymph.

”You watch it here; I’m going to grab an alien weapon for a taste!”
