Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 805: Chapter 804: Release the Long Line to Catch... the Whale

During the time Fang Zheng returned to the Heavenly Dao Palace to tidy up internal affairs, the battle between the Kingdom of Flame and the Swarm never ceased.

According to logic, the Swarm would only need a simple F2A to wipe out the Kingdom of Flame, but Fang Zheng did not choose to do so.

As Sun Tzu said: Warfare is the way of deception. Therefore, if able, appear unable; if active, appear inactive; if near, appear far; if far, appear near.

Fang Zheng’s goal wasn’t simply to give the Kingdom of Flame a lesson or to inflict some pain. On the contrary, his goal was to annihilate most of the Kingdom of Flame’s forces, pulling out the tiger’s teeth completely... Even if not completely, at least make it difficult for it to fight back.

Did they really think troubling the Heavenly Dao Palace was that easy?

Thus, Fang Zheng consistently ordered the Swarm to engage in guerrilla warfare against the Kingdom of Flame, and hid all the advanced troops, using only hydralisks, aliens, and jumping bugs to harass the Kingdom of Flame back and forth.

As a human, Fang Zheng naturally understood that humans are creatures with strong thinking inertia. After encountering these three kinds of troops frequently, they would subconsciously believe that the Swarm only consisted of these three troops. So when the final battle came, and Fang Zheng released other troops, the Kingdom of Flame would surely be caught off guard.

Besides that, the most important thing is... interests.

All wars have their purposes, just like Fang Zheng’s aim is to weaken the Kingdom of Flame. To make the Kingdom of Flame invest most of its forces in this uncharted land, there naturally has to be something that attracts them, otherwise, nobody in their right mind would invest the majority of a nation’s forces to develop a barren land.

However, fortunately, Fang Zheng didn’t need to do anything, as the Kingdom of Flame already had a reason to invade this land.

And that is the fungal carpet.

The Swarm’s fungal carpet could nourish the land, making it fertile. Previously, Nanali had made fertilizer from a piece of fungal carpet. However, at that time, Fang Zheng was worried about explaining the source of the materials clearly, so he did not allow Nanali to use the fungal carpet as a raw material.

And the facts also proved that the world had more than just one genius alchemist like Nanali. Very soon, in the Kingdom of Flame, an alchemist discovered this characteristic of the fungal carpet, immediately attracting the Kingdom of Flame’s attention.

It was mentioned before that although the Kingdom of Flame is vast and sparsely populated, the barren soil is their critical issue. So after Nanali made fertilizer, the Kingdom of Flame had been trying to find ways to ”invite” her over. But because Fang Zheng kept a close watch and didn’t intend to let go, the Kingdom of Flame failed and lost a naval admiral...

But now, with the fungal carpet, the Kingdom of Flame suddenly gained confidence.

If you don’t give it to me, I’ll make it myself!!

Thus, the fungal carpet quickly rose to the level of national strategic reserve material, and the Kingdom of Flame consequently dispatched a large number of soldiers, trying to annihilate the Swarm wandering around the fungal carpet. After all, if they wanted to ”mine” the fungal carpet, they must face the Swarm’s endless harassment and guerrilla warfare.

Although ordinary Swarm units are not a match for legendary powerhouses and spellcasters, their sheer number is overwhelming. Hydralisks would occasionally pop their tails out from underground to provoke or aliens would creep in for a night raid, driving people from the Kingdom of Flame crazy with annoyance.

Moreover, legendary powerhouses and mages are not as common as cabbages; you can’t expect them to do nothing all day but follow transport teams back and forth on patrol.

Therefore, the Kingdom of Flame also made a decision; these ugly bugs must have a hive. As long as they find their hive and gather superior forces to take it down, there will be no more worries!

The soldiers of the Kingdom of Flame were certainly not helpless; following the Swarm’s movement routes, they soon discovered a large hive. Clearly, this was the hive of those damned creatures. As long as they wiped out these creatures, the land would forever belong to the Kingdom of Flame!

Of course, all of this had been designed by Fang Zheng long ago.

The insect hive base was deliberately created by Fang Zheng as a sub-base. Moreover, to prevent the Kingdom of Flame from discovering the Goddess’s relics, he purposely built this insect hive base above... the relics.

Yes, that’s right.

Above the Goddess’s relics.

Just joking, how could such a good thing not be used? Think about it, if the Kingdom of Flame destroyed the insect hive base in broad daylight, revealing the Goddess’s relics, then how would they explain it? At that time, the Swarm could appear as the Guardian of the Goddess. As for the Kingdom of Flame... hehe...

As for whether the Goddess’s relics could withstand the Kingdom of Flame’s attack, Fang Zheng pondered and estimated that it wouldn’t be a problem. After all, he couldn’t even open it forcefully, having to obediently complete tasks to upgrade. If the Kingdom of Flame had the ability to help him open the door... then it would actually save him the effort!

But for now...

”It’s time to play a round of Interstellar Confrontation.”

Looking at the images uploaded from the personal terminal in front of him, Fang Zheng sneered coldly, then flexed his fingers and closed his eyes.

The next moment, he entered the entire swarm network.

Meanwhile, having received definite information, the Kingdom of Flame also dispatched an army, advancing towards the insect hive.

Two cavalry, riding their horses back and forth, patrolling the team around them while chatting idly.

”I never thought the council would go to such great lengths this time, mobilizing troops from three military districts to jointly eliminate these creatures. Aren’t they just some demon creatures? Is this really necessary? Just find some legendary powerhouses or archmages to blow up their nest, right?”

”Hey, you don’t know anything!”

Hearing his colleague’s exclamation, another White Feather Cavalry snorted disdainfully.

”You understand this, and the council doesn’t? You just don’t get it; our main purpose this time is to...”

Saying this, the White Feather Cavalry tilted his head towards the rear.

”To boost the morale of that master over there.”

”... Why?”

”Are you really stupid or just pretending?”

The White Feather Cavalry looked at his somewhat clueless colleague like a sculptor looking at a useless piece of wood.

”I imagine you know, Lord Kara is dead, and the whole country is spreading this news. The Dragon Slayer was our Guardian God, and now that he’s dead, someone must take over! That master is the successor to the Dragon Slayer! The council sent him here to let him gain a bit of fame and shift the public’s attention. Otherwise, why do you think the council didn’t mention anything about avenging Lord Kara...? ”

”But I heard that Lord Kara died in a fair duel.”

”Nonsense! Those are just rumors. Lord Kara was so powerful; how could he have been killed in a fair duel? It must have been the deception of those liars from the Kingdom of the Holy Church, who secretly harmed Lord Kara! The council didn’t say anything because they have no proof. But this revenge, we’ll take it sooner or later!!”

As he spoke, the White Feather Cavalry brandished his weapon.

”Hmph, those treacherous and despicable people want to harm us, but we won’t surrender so easily! Only our Kingdom of Flame is the true defender of peace and freedom! Those who idolize deities are just trying to scare people with tricks!”

At this point, the White Feather Cavalry suddenly halted, pulled his reins, and slowly glanced around.

”Did you hear something... a sound?”

”A sound?”

Seeing the White Feather Cavalry’s reaction, the other cavalry also glanced around.

”I didn’t hear anything...”

”Swoosh!!”

Suddenly, a series of sharp spikes abruptly shot up from below the surface. One of them pierced through the warhorse, traveled through the cavalry’s lower body, and shot out from his head, stringing both him and the horse into a kebab!

”Huh??”

Seeing his colleague’s head abruptly explode, and the person lifted high into the air, the other cavalry was momentarily stunned. He quickly came to his senses.

”Enemy...!!”

However, before he could finish his words, the ground around him suddenly split open. Jumping bugs sprang forth, biting his head off, swallowing both his scream and head into their bellies.

”What happened?”

The advancing army also sensed something wrong and hurriedly grabbed their weapons, trying to discern the source of the enemy. However, they quickly saw countless spikes emerging from the ground, stabbing into the army like blades. With screams of rage and horror, moments later, many were lying on the ground covered in blood or impaled by spikes, hanging in midair.

Before the soldiers could recover, the ground suddenly cracked open, and tens of thousands of jumping bugs appeared around them without warning.
